When I was in fashion school one of our teachers said some fashion writers or bloggers adore red carpet events and covering the style of those, and they specialise in that area, and I remember thinking how that would be so last on my list of fashion stories… It just wasn’t my thing back then, but fast forward a few years and out of all the pieces I write, red carpet is one of my favourites and closest to my heart. I enjoy the dresses so much, the transformations, the glamour and fun, and throwing in my two cents, playing the fashion god if you will about dresses and looks, I like the commentary, the wow, the no-no… all of it.

And last but not least I used to adore seeing my fave actors and actresses on the red carpet after having watched most if not all of their movies and tv shows. Now… I don’t get to watch tv as much as I used to, which also makes me a bit ignorant as I’ve lost track of who’s who, and there’s a lot of talented and beautiful new faces out there…

2023 golden Globes were amazing and certainly not short on fabulous dresses, in fact I think it’s one of the most beautiful red carpets I’ve seen in a long time. Very glamorous classic simple kind of gowns, where ‘beautiful’ in its natural sense kind of ruled the night. Sure there was some edge which I’m always a fan of, like Jenna Ortega‘s dress, or even Britt Lower‘s slight punk vibe gown.

There were the ‘wait-what/I’m-staring-in-space-right-now dresses (aka worst dressed) like Heidi Klum‘s, and then there were those who I’m not sure about, I kinda like but then I change my mind 3 seconds after and this goes back and forth… like Claire Danes’s dress for example… or Salma Hayek‘s, both whom I love but I would tweak their gowns a little bit. No black straps on Salma’s (she was probably trying the edgy, goth vibe, but she should have added one more detail to not have them stand out as much as they did), and Claire’s dress I’m not sure about the upper part, or perhaps that’s the one thing that makes it pretty. I’m confused.

2023 Golden Globes Best Dressed

Red carpet dresses are best when they’re either classic or edgy, done in a very cool but refined way. Good fit is key. The right color is so important, and details do make or break a look. This year I was in awe of all the ladies who wore the classic beautiful dresses. Either the classic color, or cut, or fabric – but I loved the simplicity.

Jessica Chastain in Oscar de la Renta is a pure vision of natural beauty. The dress is stunning, and the monochromatic glamorous look makes her out of this world gorgeous. I think she’s one of the most beautiful women out there. I LOVE the simple cut of the dress. Monica Barbaro in Dolce and Gabbana. Yes baby! Classic and beautiful. The color and the fluid dress is so pretty! Zuri Hall’s gown is so simple but it truly is amazing. One of my faves. Simple and very sexy in a very refined way.  Li Jun Li in Dolce and Gabbana absolutely gorgeous! And Gigi Paris looked so beautiful in her gown. And Nina Senicar OMG! THAT is how you do simple, classic and glamorous! Absolutely love that dress.

Sequins were big on the red carpet at the 2023 Golden Globes with Jennifer Coolidge as one of my faves. That’s how a great fit, beautiful sexy and classic dress is worn. I just love her entirely. Abby Elliott dressed her beautiful baby bump in a gorgeous orange gown and looked so good and so sexy. I also kinda liked Jen Stasky in her very minimalistic futuristic edgy high fashion kinda way. Simple but very powerful look and dress. Angela Basset was one of my favourites if not the best dressed for me. That’s what a call a very beautiful sexy but classic gown. It’s a silhouette and style you can never go wrong with, and sometimes I think resorting to these classic looks is theeee way to go.

Of course there were also intricate edgy even weird dresses – there always are – just to keep the balance if nothing else, but you know what, with a few exceptions I really liked them, although I’m sure some of them are not everyone’s cup of tea. For instance I really liked Julia Garner‘s dress and entire look. I think she served us pure red carpet gold with this very ethereal, pretty, extremely exquisite, and equally sophisticated dress. I also liked Anna Taylor Joy in Dior, but I will say this: had it been better fitted it would have been wow. I know it’s not a look that everyone likes, but I really fell for this color and blonde hair on her, it’s so sophisticated and monochromatic in a very edgy but elegant way and I like it. Michelle Williams in Gucci. Yes baby! It’s not my style of dress, and while I do love this whole hair and skin and dress color matchy-matchy trend  – I think it might be a bit too washed out for some reason, but the dress and ruffles are stunning.

Chloe Flower‘s dress is a mood. It literally looks so pretty and soft it calms and soothes my soul. I also really liked Letitia Wright‘s dress. The color and that slit made it for me. And Lily James in Atelier Versace was again a wow moment and one of my top faves.

I also liked Anna de Armas although I think a differs hairstyle or stringer makeup might have fitted this dress better. Or maybe not. Margot Robbie is a natural beauty and her dress is pretty, not one of my faves but I like it. Stephanie Hsu‘s dress was very pretty as well. I’m not a fan of the upper part but that white lacey bottom is gorgeous. Janelle James looked beautiful but I think that a longer dress and sans the little capes would have been better. Viola Davis can wear what she wants cause she always always always looks STUNNING. This blue on her is simply breathtaking and the cut and the silhouette are so sexy and classy. I am not 100% sure on the fabric and also is that hem wet? Or is that just an effect? Anyway I loved the look. Jamie Lee Curtis… I mean wow! And I also like Jenny Slate‘s dress… it seems a bit odd for the globes but I kinda like it. It gives me 90s effortless red carpet vibe.

2013 Golden Globes Worst dressed

TBH I didn’t really wanna do a worst dress section cause I felt there was nobody that bad dressed. That was until I saw Heidi Klum‘s dress. What in the name of god is that? And why? Also Dolly De Leon… nobody would look good is that nightmare of a dress. And since I opened this section I’m gonna let it all out: Michelle Yeoh, and Laverne Cox what the hell!!?? It seems so 80s meets 2000’s prom. Not in a good way. That blue color though is fab. Also not a fan of Jennifer Hudson’s dress, I’m usually really not a fan of her red carpet looks, so maybe I’m just lazy and biased here. It’s too much without being anything. I also wasn’t feeling Selena Gomez‘s dress, or maybe the sleeves were ruining it for me. OR maybe it looked better in person.

But at the end of the day you know what I always say when ‘judging’ these red carpets: it’s easier said than done from behind the keyboard and these ladies are all talented actresses who all look beautiful and got dressed to have fun for the night. having said that I’d still wanna hear your faves and leat faves lol. Comment and share away :)

xoxo

Whenever there’s a new award ceremony I’m legit excited to watch the red carpet and see the dresses, with the my-oh-so-infamous ‘best & worst’ label. I get it, it’s so last tuesday and almost politically incorrect these days, but it’s just fashion on the red carpet, and tbh some dresses look beautiful while others not so much. It’s simply and purely about this. Is it trivial? Stupid and shallow? Oh who cares, it’s fun so if you’re into this sort of thing let’s begin. If not… just look away.

So anyway I just needed to justify myself a little bit, with the red carpet season upon us… this 2019 SAG Awards Red Carpet is only the beginning.

2019 Sag Awards – Best Dressed

Colourful dresses, metallics, slits, sheer, asymmetry – I would say the red carpet had it all. At the GG2019 I had a fave and it seems she swooned my heart yet again – Gemma Chan! She is so beautiful and that dress is simply stunning on her. Love love love. Then I loved me some classics like Mandy Moore and Dana Gurira, Robin Wright (OMG! she looked so gorgeous and sexy, I only would have loved a bolder lip colour on her.) Constance Wu does the ultimate simple and classic yet very understated glam.

Lady Gaga I loved her dress, and especially her choker and dark lip. What I’m not too crazy when it comes to Gaga is her hair color. I mean is it intentionally so brassy, or whatever? Or am I missing something?

Let’s talk about Emily Blunt‘s vajayjay inspired dress. (or so says twitter) Oh my Lord how gorgeous is she. One of my fave for sure. The more I look at it the more I love it. Then Susan Kelechi Watson she’s sooooo beautiful all the time and always wears the best gowns. I’m loving the yellow on her so much. Cara Santana STOP girl! That dress made me love ruffles and blue! LOVE IT!!! Except for that skinny bun that looks like the poop emoji… I am loving this look a lot.

The metallics were there and I loved Renee Bargh‘s dress. Simple and stunning. (scroll down for all of my fave)

2019 Sag Awards – Worst Dressed

Yara Shadid had a gorgeous fashion editorial kind of dress on, but I feel like the dress wore her instead if the other way around. Or maybe it’s just me. I didn’t care too much for Amy Adams‘s dress, or Ryan Michelle Bathe. Btw I’s not a huge fan of trumpet dresses. Are they back in fashion or something? Why not wear mermaid, that’s like trumpet only prettier?

Then I came across Sophia Bush‘s dress? WTF? Not a fan od Rhea Seehorn‘s upper part dress either, nor Emma Stone‘s outfit.

Man I could go on for hours talking about these things but I’m just gonna let the photos roll.

Never in my life I’ve wanted to be a celebrity on the red carpet (well, okay maybe it has crossed my mind a couple of times), until this year’s Golden Globes. I don’t know what it is, maybe it’s me staying home, maybe I’m growing old, maybe my tastes change, or maybe it’s just a mood thing, but men did I love the big dresses at the 2019 Golden Globes red carpet or what! Those who know me know I’m a sucker for glamorous dresses, simple, classic with a dash of sexy or old Hollywood style.

Best Dressed – 2019 Golden Globes

While I still like those I think this year the red carpet belonged to statement huge dresses, in blue, red, nude, green, white, and very little black. As soon as I saw Lady Gaga my heart stopped. I LOVE that dress so much, and the colour is absolutely amazing! I love that she coordinated with her hair in true Gaga fashion and slays it! Another big dress fave of mine was Lili Reinhart. So glamorous, airy, sexy, tasteful and high fashion but wearable and young – I loved it from the bottom of my heart. I really like her so much so I was really happy to see her wow-ze like that.

(do you ever get that feeling, of happiness when your fave pulls through and slays, and really sad when they don’t? #Iliveforthem)

Continuing the big dresses beautiful parade was Emmy Rossum. I loved that dusty pink and fairy like fabric, the minimalist sweet look. I am not too keen on the long torso look, but I’ll let it go. Jameela Jamil wore the prettiest coral princess dress ever. And while I’m usually not a fan of this silhouette I LOVE IT. And I love how the lipstick matches the dress. I feel like it does half the work.

Constance Wu was probably the prettiest lady in the prettiest dress. I think it’s so fresh, so stylish, young, elegant but effortless and sophisticated that I’m in love with this look. From dress style, to fabric, colour, and the waist ribbon I’m a fan. When I first saw Gemma Chen I let a loud Wow slip. I was amazed and in love. It feels like a painting, like some massive flower, or cake, or something really beautiful. I love the colour, and the fact that she went monochromatic with the look,  and I love the shape of the dress. Hair and makeup beautiful and simple. I wanna love Kaley Cuoco‘s dress but ever since I saw it I go back and forth between loving it or not. I absolutely adore the bottom half, but the upper part feels a bit too heavy for it… Hair is not my fave choice for this dress, BUT I do like the dress more than I don’t so…

Apart from these classic princess dresses with a twist, the night belonged to blue dresses and white mainly, and straight or mermaid silhouettes.

Giuliana Rancic and her colleague Sibley Scoles both looked so good. Beautiful and glamorous. Giuliana did her simple classic glam number, and Sibley put her edgy spin on it.

I loved Kristin Cavallari’s dress so much! Except for the too long sleeves, I adore the colour, the details the fabric, the makeup… FLAWLESS! Dakota Fanning shined like a little diamond. Beautiful dress, but I feel like her lipstick is doing all the work, cause were it not for it, it would’ve all been too washed out.

Amy Adams wore Calvin Klein so of course the whole look is super minimal. But you know what? I really like it. It’s a classic silhouette with a very hard colour to pull off, but Amy rocks it. Loving the big bracelet as an only jewellery. Regina King – simple, to the point. I like the dress, I love the fabric, and kudos to her for keeping the rest minimal.

I don’t know who she is but Jeannie Mai rocked a pretty rocknroll dress. I legit love this so much. I feel like it’s very opulent, elegant, edgy, cool, very Marie Antoinette 2019.

Yvonne Strahovski is the exact opposite. Simple, girly, sweet, elegant. She looks very nice. Octavia Spencer was among the ver few to wear black. I really like this look, it’s classic, but a little cheeky with the shorter hem.

Gina Rodriguez – I LOVED her dress. though it’s so not my style I feel like she pulls it off 1000%, from the colour, to the style, to those details. It’s pretty and perfect.

Taraji P. Hensen is the new Sofia Vergara. I mean she’s starting to wear the same dress. It’s definitely wow, and old glamour… but I’d love to see something else next time. Maybe… Thandie Newton is a great example of a great dress but not so great hair and makeup. I feel like the dress is slightly edgy so if she had done a more classic hair and makeup it would’ve made the look 100% better. Irina Shayk looked fabulous and amazing. The dress is so simple in design and cut, but the fabric is stunning! Bradley Cooper on the other hand looks like shit. A black classic tux next time… maybe… Ah Emily Blunt is one of my faves. I love the dress, the details, the fabric, the colour, it’s perfection! Very delicate but strong somehow. Kristin Bell is a vision. True beauty. The dress is amazing, it’s like the classic evening dress. The color is so pretty and I love how she did the minimal thing and only wore a big bracelet. Love the detail on the dress too. Perfection.

Julia Roberts I liked her look. Great color combo for her, loved the design, the pants, the shoes, the hair. Very chic and very elegant. Oh my god. Be still my heart. Charlize Theron is perfection. beautiful, royal, statuesque, glamorous, classic, simple. The dress is amazing, her jewellery is amazing, she looks beautiful. LOVE! Lupita Nyongo, I feel like she sticks to pretty much the same silhouette, but I love it. The color of this dress is exquisite and I feel like it might be one of her best looks. I loved Claire Foy. Maybe some of you don’t agree, but I feel like except for the tiny wrinkles in her dress, the look is pretty old school decadent and elegant. Her hair and makeup are flawless and they do DO a lot of the work. Loved the color of the dress so much. Again another fave of mine, that y’all might not agree is MJ Rodriguez. I love the whole fluid, flowy, effortless, beautiful vibe. Really like the color or the dress and her hair. Oh my God Allison Janey I LOVE LOVE LOVE this dress. From that fab colour to the style the whole look is beautiful! Jessica Chastain looks so powerful and beautiful. it’s a very strong look but I’m loving it. Saoirse Ronan looks so hot and so elegant. One of my fave dresses. And Patricia Clarkson is by far slaying it. I mean… stunning!!!

Worst Dressed – 2019 Golden Globes

At the beginning of this post I really thought there were no bad dressers this year. Ah well… I was wrong. Now some of them I feel like they really blew it this year, while others… I just didn’t like.

Let’s start easy. It was Sandra Oh’s night, and while she did look great, I really thing they could’ve done much better dress and hair wise. I didn’t like the dress. from the waist up I feel like it’s all too loud and a mess. The hair… I’m not feeling it. Please convince me otherwise in the comments section below. Dominique Jackson‘s dress I initially liked, but then I got a very night-gown-ish vibe from it. Its pretty and she’s very beautiful but I can’t get past the night gown vibe. Okay… I’m practically singing my death sentence here, but Jamie Lee Curtis missed the best dressed list by a few inches. Or should I say makeup. I feel like if she had worn red lips the whole look would’ve been better. I get what she was trying to do, with the all white look… but it’s too washed out and ageing quite frankly. The dress however was amazing. Except for the too long sleeves.

Elsie Fisher!?! She doesn’t loo too happy herself. While Judy Greer looks way happier than she should for what she’s wearing. Rosamund Pike, no no no! I feel like she realised the dress was not too okay and she threw that blazer on. Either way I don’t like it. Caitriona Balfe for the love of God!!!! From her hair all the way down to her dress it’s so sad and unfortunate. I have never in my life seen such a dress.

Lucy Liu, Molly Sims, and Heidi Klum – its like all three of them decided to wear the same shit. The dresses are not too bad (well maybe except for Lucy’s), but they’re just not very (I can’t believe I’m saying this) age appropriate, or worthy for this event. Molly’s is like a great summer dress, and Heidi’s is art-school-project-pretty.

Penelope Cruz is always pretty much wearing black classic/heavy dresses, and this time there’s no exception, EXCEPT this time I don’t really like it. I don’t get the upper part of this dress. Kerri Russell’s dress I first liked, but then I thought the upper part was not too flattering. It’s too baggie, and makes her look a bit disproportionate. Other than that it’s nice. Julianne Moore and Laura Dern are not my fave this year. The first one is too structured and boxy, and the second is too the opposite.

Janelle Monae – what the hell?! I know it’s Chanel, but NO WAY Jose! Melissa McCarthy I did not like that dress at all. It looked ill fitted, cheap and I not too keen on the color either. Emma Stone and Anne Hathaway were a big disappointment, just cause they looked meh. I feel like I’ve seen Emma in this dress before, but this time she looks worse. And Anne… oh my. Too much, let’s just leave it at that.

Catherine Zeta Jones, Rachel Weisz, Nicole Kidman – I just didn’t like the dresses that much. Or maybe I expected more. Elizabeth Moss – what the hell. And Amber Heard is so beautiful, but that dress is not so much. Okay… and this is probably unfair, but it feels as if Halle Berry is doing the same dress over and over again. And the earrings look cheap. She is STUNNING!!!! and the dress is okay, but I just was expecting more.

Your turn now.

Awkward question: is it just me, or were celebs better dressed in the 2018 Oscars after party dresses, than the red carpet ceremony itself? I know, lately I’m the odd one out, strangely alone in my sartorial opinions… but y’all can’t tell me Lupita Nyongo‘s dress for the after party wasn’t better (waaaay better) than for the Oscars red carpet?

Is there a rule to generally picking one dress over the other? Well, obviously not in Emma Stone‘s case, cause she really did 0 efforts on both occasions. (wish I looked as good with 0 efforts though.) But you know what I mean. Do the stars actually have a saying in what they wear, is it all PR, is it a case study? What is it??? Because if you ask me the 2018 oscars after party dresses were as good as any red carpet dresses, so… what’s the memo? Is there a memo?

A lot of the young squad went for short dresses, and kinda looked the best! Might’ve been the freshness of the 20s, or the perfect bodies, or the dresses, or an all around combo – but Kendall Jenner, Hailee Steinfeld, Zoe Kravitz… Perfection!

Other celebs like Emily Ratajkovski, Olivia Munn, or Jenna Dewan (dayumnnnnn) opted for the retro vampire look in deep burgundy dresses, and looked amazing! Sienna Miller, who’s a style queen anyway, and Kate Bosworth – slay!

2018 Oscars After Party Dresses – BEST

*

On the other hand I wasn’t so keen on Paris Jackson‘s dress. Too much, and a lot of elements. Janelle’s red outfit was… interesante… but not my cup of tea. Same goes with Rosie Huntington‘s dress – very… matronly somehow. (I wish I looked that good when I looked bad though).

2018 Oscars After Party Dresses! – WORST

Unimpressed. This perfectly sums up my 2018 Oscars Red Carpet feelings, almost to the point I’m thinking of making a 3 list: 1) best dressed, 2) okay ‘meh’ dressed , and 3) worst. But I’m not. I’m gonna stick to the good ol’ classic best and worst, and hope for the best, that is – my inner bitch to STFU so we can all proceed in a civilized manner.

So YES… I was not a big fan of 2018 Oscars red carpet, in fact I think some of the celebrities wore the better dress to the after party. Lupita Nyongo I’m looking at you. So between this unimpressed bored mood the 2018 oscars red carpet got me into… I’m also in awe at the awe of the entire internet about Nicole Kidman, and Lupita, and other big beautiful stars who actually, in my humble and appraently very off-key this year’s opinion, were not so show-stoppers. Some were okay, and some were actually horendous.

2018 Oscars red carpet felt like a bubble that burst too late or too quickly and left everyone (meaning me. go on, roll your eyes, I’m rolling mine at myself at this point) a bit unimpressed (for lack of better word). It’s as if you’re waiting for a sneeze all morning, and between this is it, and another missed sneeze-window… it finally happens 1,980 hours too late and it’s the lousiest piece of shitty sneeze ever. Yes, the 2018 Oscars red carpet were a sneeze.

Or… I could be the odd one out on this one. Maybe everyone did slay. I just need to wake up and smell the damn coffee.

2018 Oscars Red Carpet – Best Dressed

I am so signing my fashion death sentence with this one, but God help me if I loved Nicole Kidman’s Armani Prive dress. Y’all, I tried to love it, and actually did for a brief 7 seconds, but as much as I LOVE the colour, the design, the length (finally she got it right), how it looks against her complexion, love her makeup, hair, the whole damn circus – I can’t get pass that bloody front bow. Nicole, why didn’t you get the big one? I get it, it’s a couture number, it’s high fashion, she can wear it, who the hell am I… but it wasn’t wow for me. It was an ‘oh’ moment. Still qualified for best dressed, but I wouldn’t be *that* excited about it.

Allison Janey had one of the best red dresses ever, such a fab red carpet moment for her. Allison Williams looked incredibly stunning, as did Mary J. Blige, who I think was one of the best dressed. I LOVED Betty Gabriel’s green-turquoise dress, with that infinity plunging neckline. Perfect colour. Gal Gadot, Gina Rodriguez, who, although had one of those I-think-I’ve-seen-this-dress-before-kinda-dress on, did look beautiful. Greta Gerwing looked very pretty and simple. Maybe too so for the Oscars.

Helen Mirren and Jane Fonda shut down the Oscars. I mean… that’s how you fucking do it. Jane is 80 years old people. And she still nails it.

I loved Jennifer Garner in blue, and I liked the dress, but I think the hair was a bit overwhelming. No?

Margot Robbie was as stunning as always, I love this girl in white. But (there is always a but this year I swear) those off the shoulder straps looked like Christmas tinsel. Ah whatever. Meryl Street, Mira Sorvino, Molly Sims – all were beyond beautiful and very Oscars style, yet still effortless.

I loved Samara Weaving. I don’t know who she is, but I liked the dress.

I loved Sandra Bullock, Taraji P. Henson – who does a bit of JLO and Sofia Vergara: has found her red carpet style and sticks to it. Well, maybe the dress is a bit too busy.

Viola Davis – I LOVED her. It’s a little too candy sweet and 80s 18 year old, but something about this look I LOVE, and I don’t care if the world disagrees. If she only lost that clutch.

Zendaya – stunning! Zoey Deutch was so simple and graceful. Sofia Carson was fire!

And Saoirse Ronan... man I don’t know… I like the colour, and the dress, but I hate the upper part, I think it’s ill fitted and ruins the whole look. But it’s not an ugly dress. Maybe it photographed bad?

And Jennifer Lawrence… I cannot stand her. I mean I don’t vibe with her at all. She’s trying so hard all the time to look so carless, and free spirited, like she’s this hillbilly who’s such a misfit into the glam world, like she doesn’t give a fuck, hence she’s above it all – yes we get it JLAW… we get it. But I for one, just wanna say I ain’t falling for that crap. Be it real or not. What the fuck was up with that laughing at/with Emma Stone moment? Aaaaanywaaaay – her dress? It’s not bad, but I don’t vibe with it either. That line cut it had right at the thighs kinda ruined it. It wanted to be such a studio 54 moment, but somehow it felt like the dress wore her, instead of the other way around. Nonetheless it is a very sexy gorgeous dress.

2018 Oscars red carpet – Worst dressed

Whoopi Goldberg – what in the name of the lord are you wearing? Having a dress party all by yourself? Anyway… another death sentence for me on this one, cause the whole internet was so in awe with this look – she looked like a lizard casually visiting the Oscars, for God’s sake!!! The fit of the dress, the colour, the print, those tats, the sunglasses, the hair pulled back – were all points in one direction: not good. I get it, it’s cool, cause she’s such a badass, but the dress is fucking ugly.

Lupita Nyongo has the world of fashion wrapped around her finger. Uh-huh, not me. I didn’t see what the hell was so great about that dress. That’s the thing about lame fabric – it can look so cheap and dated it’s a very dangerous look to go for if you’re not an 80s icon, a studio 54 goddess, Rihanna…

Emma Stone looked like she came from the office, snatched a pink ribbon from some curtain somewhere and said, I’m off to the Oscars. Good for you.

Emily Blunt on the other hand wanted it all. And so she wore it. Are you still in there Emily? Sorry I can’t tell if you’re swallowed yet but all that fabric?

Haley Bennett decided to glue some dog hair to her dress. And Salma Hayek well… how much time you got? Lord have mercy, there is not one great thing about this look, except her beautiful self, but we’re talking dresses, and her’s is absolutely horrendous, Gucci or no Gucci.

Last Sunday was a good day. I ate like a normal person, I had a good outfit on,  2018 SAG awards red carpet happened, and… 1) it was absolutely gorgeous, with metallic gowns and bold colourful dresses being centre stage, 2) ‘This is us’ being the winner of the night, and 3) The Pearsons killing it in blue. I truly think, from the bottom of my heart Mandy Moore looked beyond stunning. Glamorous simplicity in blue! Best of the night and one of my fave looks on the red carpet ever!

2018 SAG Awards Red Carpet – BEST DRESSED

YES, Mandy Moore owned the red carpet, or maybe it’s just me on this one, but that Ralph Lauren blue sequin simple dress was stunning. It’s her colour for sure. I loved the makeup, the hair, so simple, so effortless. Altogether she looked like she just woke up, stood in a makeup chair for 15 minutes, finger-combed her bed-head hair, put some perfume on and slipped into the most seductive dress ever. I used to hate blue… now I don’t anymore.

Actually all the Pearsons on the show showed up in blue dresses and looked gorgeous! Like Susan Kelechi Watson. She’s one of the most beautiful women out there, she can wear whatever she wants, she’ll nail it 100%, but this cobalt blue dress…. shut the front door.

The moment I saw Kristen Bell’s dress I let a loud ‘oh my god’ slip. BEYOND beautiful. It’s not the dress as much as that colour that is making this look a show stopping moment. It’s so princess style but somehow it doesn’t bother me because it has that glam simplicity to it, and it’s all complimented by the hair, makeup and spot-on jewellery. LOVED it.

Reese Witherspoon continued the colour explosion with the most beautiful and cold shade of green, a very tricky colour if you ask me, but it fits her like a glove. Again, I think the colour is the star, not necessarily the dress. A clean, simple, elegant red carpet look. I didn’t really like the upper part, but I kinda like the whole vibe. So…

Another dress, another colour. Again… I might be alone in this, or maybe I’m losing it or something but I kinda liked Sydelle Noel‘s dress. Man, that yellow is killing me, and that Beyonce Lemonade vibe the dress has, it’s giving me life! I would’ve liked the upper part to be less ruffled, but I don’t care. The colour and that flowy bottom part, the no necklace (naked jewellery statement), and big hair – they’re making this look a best for me.

And then there were the cape dresses. Y’all know I’m not like a massive fan, but if it’s beautiful and dramatic, and I sigh… I’m sold. I don’t know who she is, but Renee Bargh is one powder blue goddess! That dress, that cut, the front cut, the brooch, the way the dress drapes and falls, how it’s fitted but it’s flowy… I wanna go and literally buy everything in baby blue right now and wear it.

Laura Linney looked so elegant and dainty. That pink shade goes perfectly with her complexion and her hair.

Of course Tracee Ellis Ross killed it! She’s such a red carpet queen. I love white dresses. Period. And this particular one I loved that it’s simple but intricate, with the front slit, and the half cape. The fact that she went for white shoes and white clutch is making an even more elegant statement. She’s glowing and looks incredibly old-school elegant with a dash of edge.

It’s not a cape, and it’s not a train, but it turned heads and made my heart skip a beat. Yara Shahidi was one of 2018 SAG Awards red carpet’s queens of style. Again simplicity, minimal jewellery, natural beautiful hair – the whole look will remain a red carpet moment, I think. It’s a simple (maybe too simple) black pantsuit that just slays! Period. She’s absolutely gorgeous, insanely beautiful, and looks so fierce, which helps too, cause it looks like she’s wearing the gown not the other way around.

And who doesn’t love Millie Bobby Brown‘s look. Red carpet and sneakers. If anyone could rock this it’s her. She’s still a kid, so this look is pure perfection, as she’s just having fun and not bothering with high heels, grownup accessories, yet she’s still doing a red carpet dress. Cape dress that is. Ish. Sort of like a train. Again – simplicity, minimal jewellery, and pastel colours. LOVE this little girl and her fashion sense.

Another pastel and draping moment is Goldie Hawn. Any particular thoughts on this look? While she went for one of the most beautiful shades of pastel, she didn’t hold back on jewellery, and that’s cool. The dress is nice, and she’s a best dressed because she’s truly an icon, and the whole look is a moment. While it might not be her best, it’s still elegant and romantic.

And now… the gliteratiiiiiiii moment. YES there were a ton of glitter, metallic liquid, and sequin dresses at the 2018 SAG Awards red carpet, and almost all of them looked amazing. One of my favourites were Giuliana Rancinc and Lupita Nyongo. Giuliana’s dress was pure statement but not in a big over the top kinda way, it was elegant, and modern, refined and of course sexy. Perfect match with the hair. Lupita looked so sexy and sleek. Minimal jewellery, simple look as if she and that liquid metallic dress did all the work. Well, they actually did.

Who says you can’t do sequins a la beachy style. What am I even saying?! Tanika Rey‘s dress is just that: the effortlessness of the summer dress, simple cut, flowy, un-pretencious, yet the fabric is super glamorous. A nude elegant colour is perfect fur such a dress, that might have not worked. But it does somehow, with the no necklace trend, and tons of rings, bold lips, minimal makeup, natural hair. I like it.

Erin Lim is a red carpet beauty. The fringes are kinda cabaret looking but the dress is very beautiful. Now I love nude sequin dresses, so I might be biased, but this look is very simple and sophisticated. Danielle Brooks, wore such a beautiful dress. Perfect colour and cut.

Natalie Zea and Allison Janney were like metallic statues and that’s not so bad. Maybe it was all just too sleek and un-interrruped or something (if there’s even such a thing), but it was glamours without being ostentatious. Marisa Tomei – I kinda liked it, very simple, tea-length dress, column straight, sequin and glam but very relaxed at the same time. She looks tres chic.

Nicole Kidman was okay, but certainly not wow. She rarely is for me, in fact she’s always somewhere in between nice and okay. The dress itself sucks, and the colour is ugly (at this point I’m not even sure why she’s on the best dressed list), but the hair and makeup are great and she somehow works this dress. Olivia Munn – gorgeous. Very sophisticated.

Halle Berry was one of the most gorgeous women out there. I mean she’s like that by default so… I love it, I love it, I love it. Even with that black see through curtain that was totally unnecessary. She is a goddess.

Leslie Mann was very beautiful in her simple mermaid blue sequin gown. Elizabeth Moss looked very French chic and elegant. Selenis Leyv was very sexy.

Madeline Brewer looked like she came from a high fashion editorial. Insanely gorgeous and so chic, in this very icy-cool-high-glamour sort of way. Perfect lipstick and shoes. Like perfect!

Amanda Warren was one hot gal, and while there’s a lot of tulle going on… it’s not bad. Not very high-sophisticated either, but I think she looks beautiful. A bit of sequin or glitter somewhere on that dress might have made it look more high fashion somehow, and more glamorous.

And the 2 princesses that were so pretty and so glamours: Dakota Fanning and Margot Robbie. I loved Dakota’s dress, and even her monochromatic overall look. She looks stunning and very red carpet worthy. Margot… I was first thinking what the hell? A feathers belt? But I sat on it (figuratively speaking) and now I love it.

Taryn Manning is the picture of edgy and drama. It looks good, and she looks beautiful. And that black and white combo of the dress and shoes is kinda cool. Alexandra Breckenridge‘s dress was very wow at first sight. Then I didn’t like it, but now…. I think I like it again. I know, I’m such a pillar of consistency. Something about it is maybe too matronly, yet the metallic detail, her tats, and the colour of the dress are balancing it out. I would have liked it more fitted, like mermaid style… Shocking I know.

2018 SAG Awards Red Carpet – Worst Dressed

Okay everyone, let’s begin with the big debate: Kate Hudson‘s dress. The internet was so split between loving and hating it that I too have to give my ‘oh-so-savvy-sartorial-opinion’ (*rolls eyes). Her look is so beautiful, her hair and makeup are absolutely gorgeous. Too bad that old-maid’s-wanna-look-glam-dress is absolutely horrible. She looks like a fucking cupcake on steroids. I can tell from the photo the fabric is absolutely fantastic, so delicate and fluid and flowy, moving with the tiniest bit of wind. The color is great too, but it’s just too much. I get it. Like, in the world of high pretentious fashion, I get the dress. Valentino went for this romantic edgy queen, with a dash of punk and some dainty princess vibes too – but IRL it does’t really do it. Maybe without the upper part, the black lace… Or maybe without that black ribbon… Oh I know. Maybe a different dress! Yes.

So I don’t like it. Nevertheless it’s a look and a bit of statement.

Allison Williams… same story as the above. Too magazine editorial rather than ready to wear for the red carpet. Or maybe the dress wore her instead of the other way around. Oh… and I also think it was a too dark look for her. I do love the dress thought. A lot. But overall I think it was too harsh for her.

Natalie Dyer – I didn’t like it. The dress looks undone somehow, with the upper part too tank-top-wanna-be-fancy and the lower part too playful somehow. I don’t know. I did not like it. Same goes for Ryan Michelle Bathe – pretty, with a dash of too pretty, and then some 80s prom vibe. They’re not ugly dresses per se… but something is off.

Abbie Cornish just like Kate Hudson probably wanna start some cool-romanic red carpet dresses vibe, but it ain’t working. Actually I love the dresses – in that fashion sort of way… but I just don’t see them for the red carpet.

Yvonne Strahovski – why? So she wants to look romantic but glamours, and also like she’s teaching something, but is kinda sexy too, while rocking the red carpet. Kudos to you. It’s exactly the same type of dress as the above – looks great on the runway and in magazines, but looks off IRL red carpet.

Natasha Lyonne what in the name of God is that monster around your hands? It’s such a 90s red carpet style… The dress is okay, but the rest just ruined it. Kelly Marie Tran you are beautiful but that dress is not so much. It would have looked great mermaid or column style, no hoop earrings but instead something more high class, and maybe without a double fold at the chest.

Continuing the romantic goth princess style is Kate Nash. Evidently these dresses were a trend. The thing is I love them. Like I’d wear them to a fashion event, with high heels and a leather jacket on top… certainly not at the 2018 SAG Awards red carpet.

Maya Rudolph, for the love of God no. Odeya Rush – she looks okay but too structured and geometrical. Un-human somehow. Not feeling this look at all. Susan Sarandon you are a queen, but seriously, it’s a no for this whole look. You can’t possibly resort to sequins to save the day… it does’t work like that. I first put Lauren Dern on this list too, but now she ain’t that bad. I didn’t like the fit of the dress tbh, nor her hair.

Molly Sims. Okay bye. Brie Larson, why! It’s such a ridiculous dress I’m speechless. The fabric looks cheap, the print looks tacky, it looks like it smells of old age and about 100 year old passing of time. No.

Saoirse Ronan… is pretty much dressed like those old-school monks. Except in pink. Mary J. Blige was a swan. And Sally Hawkings was a 70s psychedelia. The dress itself is kinda cool, but if it were shorter, and with a belt it’d have worked better.

And now it’s your turn to share your faves or least faves in the comments below.

xoxo D.

Never in recent years has there been a red carpet event so talked about, for other reasons other than fashion per se. This alone is a massive milestone in everything 2018 Golden Globes Red Carpet stood for: Time’s up and #MeToo movements supported and voiced loud and clear, bold and beautiful by women and men alike.

Like never before all celebrities stood together (with a couple of exceptions from the colour code rule) and wore all black outfits in support of equality and truth. Saying no to sexual harassment, gender pay gap, discrimination of all sorts, racism, power play, and all the negative issues women have had to deal with for decades – was all in the spotlight. Celebrities were telling it like it is, putting a name on it (Debra Messing addressing the E! situation of Cat Sadler’s leaving the network) for the first time ever. Live. On the red carpet. United through a dress code – all black – by the same movement and beliefs.

Amen!

Oprah Winfrey summed this all up into one of the best speeches ever, whose aftermath has everyone begging her to run for president, and according to this morning’s news… for the first time she didn’t say no. It was compelling, heartfelt, pure truth, strong, empowering and so so emotional.

Basically good people are sick of bullies, keeping their mouths shut, and playing polite over truth to save appearances, in the film industry and all over the world, from the top A celebrity to the cleaning lady in your office building. Time’s up, and we’re done with turning a blind eye to casual insults, discriminatory behaviour and what not.

With everything happening in the world out there, and with all that went down at the Emmy’s 2017 #womenrock, the great speeches, amazing, talented women being awarded and celebrated after having had fantastic opportunities to play great roles so they can showcase their talents, talking about the Emmy’s 2017 red carpet of all things, is the most trivial thing one could do. Yet here I am. Truth is, I have given a few thoughts to whether or not I really want to go on my usual red carpet rants, cause I feel like that idiot that stays behind and argues a point when everyone else has moved on. #ilovetoembarassmyslef

But, here’s the thing: 1) I have no possible way of watching the show, except for the red carpet on E! (which is aired in Europe later than live obviously), so this alone puts me in a very red carpet-ish angle, and the rest of the story, the best part, aka Nicole Kidman’s speech, Reese’s speech, the winners, the faces, the host, the comments, the vibes, how women rocked this year, and what a milestone it all was for empowerment and equality, and celebrating talent all around (also known under the name of feminism) – I can only access online, dispersed and biased already. So there’s that, and 2) while I’m all for the above 1,000% I LOVE talking red carpet fashion. Period.

Emmy’s 2017 red carpet was one of the most stylish carpets I’ve ever seen. Maybe there was something in the air cause everything just came together that night for everyone there. Well, except those who did’t win, and really wanted to, and those who were not so best dressed, in case they wanted to be. Scrolling through all the photos I was actually “worried” I’d have no worst contenders.

Turns out, there are a few who took one for the worst dressed team. So let’s go.

Emmy’s 2017 Red Carpet – Best Dressed

The whole cast of Big Little Lies has got to be here. Maybe Shailene Woodley not so much, I mean I loved the dress but I felt like the hair was very peasant-praire style inspired, colour and texture as well. Nicole Kidman finally shut it down!!!!! I gave up on her red caret efforts long time ago, but this year her dress was beyond perfect for her. She looks stunning  in red, that’s a fact, and the silhouette was great. I would have freaked out if they tried to put me in that length, so… I love that she went for it,  but I was also scared for Nicole. Hair – stunning. Makeup – fab! The upper part of the dress was insane.

Reese Witherspoon is one of my faves and her choice of that blazer dress was not bad. I think she made it look amazing, she wore it fab with her long blonde hair that popped against the colour of the dress. I really liked it. And I do think she wore the dress not vice versa, and any other person would not have pulled this off so great.

Susan Saradon. Perfection. Can I look like that when I grow up? The cut, the style everything was classic,  simple, and glamorous.

Gugu Mbata Raw – stunning!!! Everything about this look is show stopping in the most natural and effortlessly beautiful way possible. The dress is glitter, liquid glitter and sequins, and it’s so simple and flattering on her it’s amazing. I love that she kept it all simple and accessorised with earrings of the same dress colour.

Zoe Kravitz looks like a beautiful bird. A lot of women went for the ostrich feathers look, but few pulled it off. Zoe’s edge mixes perfectly with the super glam and sweet side (possibly tacky) of the feathers. I love the pearls, cause it makes it all so eclectic but feminine in a very edgy kinda of way. Rocknroll with a girly twist. So if course she was the only one who pulled off this look. It’s one of those looks that the more you look at, the more you love it.

Rashida Jones was beautiful. I loved the dress and felt it had so much movement and silky slippery kinda texture to it. The design, the cut, how she looked it in it – pure flawlessness. Vanessa Kirby – not to crazy about the hair, but the dress!!! Oh my. One of my faves.

Viola Davis stunning!!!! She always always always looks beautiful on the red carpet. The colour of the dress is so good on her it’s absolutely gorgeous.

Somebody call the firepolice or something. Hello Gina Rodriguez! Oh my god. This is so sexy it’s almost impossible to look at. The plunging neckline, the fabric, the long sleeves, the hair pulled back, those earrings, natual makeup – it’s all pure glamour.

Emmy Rossum looked so red carpet glam, old-school meets 2017 classic. Loved the simplicity of the dress, and the hair was beautiful, side parted, old Hollywood style, with the perfect earrings. I’m not really a fan of such big dresses, but this one I love.

Michelle Pfeiffer… everyone was blown away by how gorgeous she looked. I thought she looked ok. |The dress is beautiful, so is she, but let’s not get carried away here. Julie Bowen was superb. I love that she chose a dress that was simple, but not really, and went for full on classic bling. It seems it’s all about the classic jewellery this year.

Madeline Brewer was very stunning and high fashion. The high big shoulders and that earring were like fashion editorial, and the dress so so glamorous and beautiful.

Susan Kelechi Watson is one of my fave women. I absolutely adore her on This is us, and she slayed it at the Emmy’s 2017 red carpet. She looks like a goddess in that dress. I’m in love with that dress. Perfect cut, slit, upper part, shoes were great, hair and makeup brilliantly natural… maybe I would have picked more diamond like earrings.

Sofia Vergara is ok, but I am a little bit so over her red carpet looks, because they’re literally so did done did it’s crazy. Okay the dress is more birdie style, with the ostrich feather being a trend I guess looking like a bird was the go-to thing this year. It’s a beautiful dress, she is a beautiful woman, but come on! I would have picked more classic jewellery, nothing too chandelier-y, and I would have done a side part hairstyle with old Hollywood waves. I think that would have made wonders.

When I first saw Mandy Moore, i was like what the fuck woman, but then seeing more photos from different angles i am loving this dress. it;s so ‘oreo’ dramatic and fun i adore it. and the lipstick is amazing on her. LOVE.

Felicity Huffman looked beautiful and classic. Laverne Cox hot as hell as always.

Speaking of hot… Yonne Strahovski dayum woman!!!! She is one of the most beautiful women I’ve seen. That dress is like held together by invisible little birds (again with the birds). It’s so sexy and so revealing but also incredibly beautiful, without being tacky. Love the hair the make up and that choker.

Also Tessa Thomson looked so good. It was a heard look to pull off, so colourful and so MTV-like awards, but I think she rocked it. Sarah Hyland was stunning, I love her. Erin Lim was shut the front door. I love  this busy opulent Dolce and Gabbana Sicily inspired style so much. it’s perfection for me, but I’m aware it;s a not an easy look to digest.

When I saw Padma Laksmi I was literally blown. Wow! she has unleashed her sex-bomb persona and I love it. the sultry make up, the cleavage, that pink against hair hair and dress. it was a bit too much at first, but why the hell not. she seems to love it, and i love it for her. btw her hair looks amazing.

Nina Kiri very effortlessly beautiful, young, edgy but fresh. Kristin Cavalari very simple (maybe too simple) and cute. Liliana Vasquez looked so good, very beautiful and classic with a bit of drama courtesy of the black belt and accessories. Loved it.

Emmy’s 2017 Red Carpet – Worst Dressed

Please hate me if you want, I don’t care, but Jessica Biel wore the ugliest dress ever, and she topped it all with the ugliest hair ever. I really don’t know which is worse, the hair or the dress, but she looks like she stepped off some 80s prom situation. Oh my god, I keep looking at it, and I don’t get it. what is with that pink fabric over the sequins?

Anyone?!

Heidi Klum please clap your hands for me. Oh wait, don’t. You’ll hurt yourself and wake up half the world with those bangles girl. and as if those weren’t enough you popped a few earrings in there too, of all styles – chandelier. And you’re giving us major cleavage and major slit #vajajayalert, and a bright tan… I’m so tired right now from this look. The dress is very maxi summer inspired, and it’s not bad, but not for red carpet, and not with those bangles. What is this, 2000’s?!

Vanessa Bayer somebody just threw up all over you. Oh wait, no, it’s your dress.

You guys, what happens when an ostrich meets a disco ball? They have a party and it looks like the dress Tracee Ellis Ross wore. My oh my. What happens when too much is too much.

Ariel Winter is more like Ariel Summer hot but not in a good way. it’s too much for me. those slits are like the dresses you wear in latin dance competitions, not red carpet appropriate, it’s too tight, too sexy-in a try-too-hard kinda way.

Samantha Bee looks too harsh. It’s not bad, but something about that dress makes me feel so uncomfortable. It’s too structured and blazer inspired and too green. I don’t really like it. I love her hair and her smile and her jewellery.

Lea Michelle she should not be here on the worst list, which in itself should be more like my least fave list, cause she looks beautiful, but i just feel like the belt ruined the look entirely. It looks like a jeans belt, and that is a sequin red carpet dress. I’m also not a big fan of that type of cleavage and straps.

Amanda Crew – I’m still not sure about it. I wanna love it, but I dont know. Is it see-through and is that a peak into her naked body? Not that there’s anything wrong with it. Really now, I just think it’s ok but she looks like a bedazzled condom.

Leslie Jones she’s so great and I love her but I don’t like her dress and I wanna love it but I can’t. Crying right now. I don’t know why i don’t like it. maybe there should be no slit? Or maybe those earrings are too bedazzled for that bedazzled dress? Help!!!

Debra Messing is messing around in nylon. No, actually she’s lost in a not so pretty dress. Samira Wiley I love the dress, but the upper ruined it: it’s too much. it should have stopped at the cleavage.

Priyanka Chopra why?!!!! So she went with the bird trend, and that dress ostrich train or trumpet ruined it. also it felt like the dress was more like a cotton thick restraining jacket. it does look good, but certainly not what I expected. maybe it would have worked better without those shoulder-arm details. or maybe no feathers.

Laura Dern – tomato tomato. #ostrichalert

Oh my god, somebody call the sheriff! Evan Rachel Wood is in the house. She’s always going for masculine lookms but this is a no no for me. is that a cropped jacket, it that a long vest underneath? Why not a simple blazer?

Mackenzie Davis – well… she is so beautoul but she fucked it up. I have nothing else to say. I don’t wanna say anything. #crying.

That was not at all my long rant, but I’m so excited to read your comments, cause guess what: they’re working! So please feel free to let me know who was your fave or least fave and let’s talk about it.

Can we all agree that the 2017 Oscars were a bit awkward and not what we expected, hence the tons of opinions on the fashions, the winners, the losers, and the La La Land versus Moonlight situation/stunt?

What the entire universe can agree on through is that the Oscars after-parties had celebrities looking much better than the actual red carpet. To a certain extent it’s understandable, they’re more relaxed, they just wanna have fun, party, drink, and dance, and meet with their friends. You know… a regular Friday night, only in designer clothes and rubbing elbows with Ryan Gosling.

Photos of Reese Witherspoon taking selfies with her friends and laughing while looking amazing is all of us when we go out. Well…. sort of. Viola Davis wearing sneakers and a fab pant-suit is beyond cool and elegant at the same time. Emma Stone‘s relaxed outfit just screams ‘I just wanna have a drink and enjoy myself now. Who cares about fashion.’

Then there was Demi Lovato. Stop. The models. Stop. Sofia Vergara, Kate Hudson, Jessica Alba – everyone looked insanely hot and pretty.

But is there a code to the sartorial choices of the Oscars dresses for the red carpet versus the after-party?

According to Vogue there is, and it’s all about glaming it all up on the red carpet and going for a more laid back version for the party. A second dress should not up-stage the actual Oscars dress, and should be just that, a quick change of outfits that goes with letting your hair down and enjoying yourself. It shouldn’t look as if you could not decide between 2 dresses.

Well now… makes sense doesn’t it? According to this rule Vogue named the best after party dresser Alicia Vickander.

Now go grab a drink, a mojito, a coffee, champagne, water, whatever floats your boat and look at how the stars party.

Who was your fave?

{photos via Vogue, Elle, Eonline}

Last night was one of the biggest and most eventful nights in Hollywood Oscars’s history. Viola Davis won her Oscar being the first black woman to win an Oscar, Emmy, and Tony award for acting.  Mahershala Ali won best supporting actor being the first muslim to win this award, La La Land won best picture. Oh, sorry, no, scratch that. It was Moonlight. That’s how it went down. Oh… and the red carpet seemed poor in ‘wow’s’ and stunning best dressed.

I decided to not sugar coat anything. I’m already having major sweets craving, I don’t need such temptation in my life. So I will be direct and subjectively honest when it comes to 2017 Oscars red carpet. It was one of the worst red carpets. Yes, there were obviously best dressed actresses and those who were looked beyond amazing and stunning and my heart literally skipped a beat, but there were too few.

I also felt like everyone was waiting for this carpet to make a fashion statement be it edgy or classic and most didn’t. They actually blew it. It’s like they stayed for so long in anticipation mode that they eventually got bored and didn’t bother too much.

Best dressed – Oscars 2017 Red Carpet

Viola Davis looked beyond perfect. The dress was a simple gorgeous mermaid in the best colour ever. Red looks insane on her and she pulled it off like a winner! I loved the entire look, form dress to hair and makeup. She looked beautiful. Emma Stone in Givenchy was the perfect image of how to wear gold’ish tones. I LOVED the contrast of the dress with her darker red hair and bold makeup up. So fashion and old Hollywood. Continuing the golden love was Jessica Biel who pulled off a very risky look if you ask me. She looked amazing, but the dress as gorgeous it is, has a bit of that army/ripped fabric effect. Even a bit of Flintstones fashion vibe. Nevertheless I loved it. I’m loving long sleeves on red carpet dresses more and more. It also had this 70s glam vibe to it.

Olivia Culpo – OH MY GOD! Stunning. Perfection. Beautiful. It’s simple, dramatic, very sexy in such a classic 20s roaring dazzling way it’s irresistible. I love the black belt and the contrasting dark nails. Love her hair and makeup. Ah…. I am in love with this look.

Ruth Negga. Are you kidding me? SLAY! This is beyond perfect and I think she took a massive risk here to go for a full on dramatic look, so powerful, and visually so strong for the Oscars, when everyone plays it safe, that it’s insane she did that, and pulled it off 100000%. LOVED the dress, the boho-romatic-dramatic-high-fashion style, loved the hair, the makeup. Beautiful.

Sofia Carson was wow. Simplicity and classic to the core and done with supreme perfection. I love how she was not afraid to keep it minimal and simple. That red lip was the only extravagance she went for and it payed off big time. Gorgeous.

Isabelle Huppert looked so elegant, beautiful and effortless. I love that she went for a very glamorous but relaxed dress, in which she looked comfortable. She killed it.

Okay, Darby Stanchfield looked amazing, but what the hell is up with the cape dress. My friend and fellow blogger Vanessa, over at Budding Fashionista blog said so well: ”the white cape dress. Is Hollywood not over it yet?”. Apparently not, but I’m over it. I love everything about this look, from the dress, to the colour, the cut, the upper part, the flowy rich bottom, the earrings, the hair, I even love the damn cape, but WE ARE OVER IT. Karlie Kloss, really?! Yes it’s all nice and rainbows and butterflies, but I don’t get the cape. I never really loved it, it always felt it was a bit shoved down my throat, but I took it cause it was different, classic, high fashion whatever… Now I’m done.

Emma Roberts looked very pretty, but what I didn’t really like was that dirty yellow’ish white part of the dress. It was a good look, a very classic with an edge style and she pulled it off.

Taraji P. Henson. STOP. Bow down bitches. I love love love love love this dress, and how she was feeling it too. Massive style crush and hotness. Love that she kept it sexy and simple, with just a statement necklace and high slit. It’s the classic red carpet sexy dress that we haven’t seen in such a long time, and I’m so glad she did this look.

Giniffer Goodwin had another version of Ruth Nega’s dress. Different style, same dress sort of. Major faux pas. But she looked good. Ava DuVernay stunning!!!! Again the long sleeves rule. Perfection.

Kirsten Dunst was oh. my. god. Too beautiful. She owned this dramatic very glam style. Chrissy Teigen… cape. And she’s like so in our face lately. Literally speaking. She always looks good. That’s all imma say about it.

Nicole Kidman… Can we all take a moment and say a big thank you and a standing ovation. She finally nailed it. My God, it took only like a 1,567,046,944 red carpets worst dressed lists but she did it. It’s all in the simple choices.

Priyanka Chopra she’s so stunning this woman can wear anything. I don’t know how this dress looks from the side, but from the front I love it.

Brie Larson looks sooooo pretty and refined. She looks like a designer’s stunning sketch. It’s glamorous, elegant, classic, beautiful. Love the hair and makeup too.

Naomie Harris looked sleeked and elegant and beautiful but I still think it was not very Oscar’ish. What the hell do I know?

Worst dressed – 2017 Oscars Red Carpet

[[[[ I am so curious to watch E! red carpet show and Fashion Police and find out what the hell is up with Giuliana Rancic’s dress. I am devastated. I don’t get it: the design is – what the hell is it? the fabric looks like shit, and the colour is great but not on her. Bad photo?! ]]]]] ;’*you guys…. this was my first thought. I have just caught a glimpse of her on E! red carpet talking about the dress and I love it. It was a bad photo. #happyagain

I know everyone was so excited over Zuri Hall‘s dress. I just think they’re all insane. That long waist is horrible, and while the dress is pretty colour wise and those appliqués are amazing, and the colour is fantastic on her, and her hair and makeup are great – that design  looks off on her (and on anyone else for that matter), a bit ill fitted, and not right, I don’t care how high fashion it was supposed to be.

Stacy London. Are you fucking kidding me? I have no words. The hair is great, the earrings are amazing, the colour of the dress is perfect for her… but all of them together, for the Oscars… did she lose a bet or something? And what in the name of the Lord is up with those shoes. Is this like a social experiment?

Blanca Blanco… …. …. you guys am I crazy or is this dress a bit great and hideous at the same time? I adore the sandals and the dress is major high fashion, that slit is perfect, but something makes me hate it. Maybe the overly puffy shoulders or that red belt…

Felicity Jones and Raphaela Neihausen… girls, we know Alicia Vickander wore that yellow dress at the Oscars last year or so, but that doesn’t mean it’s a ticket to winning best dressed. Hence your situation this year. I don’t like the dresses. Simple as that. I’m not a big fan of tea-lenght and certainly not at the Oscars. They’re not ugly of course… but I’m not feeling them.

Teresa Palmer – long waist, belt? What?! It’s like stylists and designers have agreed to make some people at the Oscars look not so flattering. She’s stunning either way… but that dress is not.

Leslie Mann shut down the internet with her dress, and everyone in fashion was in awe of how amazing she looked. I was un-impressed. It was wrinkled, and she looked like she ran off from a fashion shoot before they finished up her look.

Janelle Monae did exactly the opposite – she stayed with the glam team and the designers way too long, until they added all they could and then some on her dress and her look altogether. She looked too done, overly embellished, busy, too much.

Okay, can we all please talk about Dakota Johnson‘s dress, but without the pretentious fashion bullshit? Again the world’s sartorials died and said she killed it. She killed us, that’s what she did. Did you guys like it? I thought it looked hideous. I mean… yeah very cool and edgy and editorial FOR AN EDITORIAL. But it was wrinkled, it was sad, it was willowy, it was crying on her for God’s sakes. No?! Am I alone here?

Michelle Williams… she’s a very pretty girl but her style is so not my style, and I can’t for the love of me like it. Where’s the makeup, and the glam? It’s the Oscars for the love of God. I know she is wearing makeup, and jewellery, and she looks simple and pretty but something about this look I’m not feeling.

Alicia Vickander came out of the shower put on some dress (again the long waist), some diamond necklace and showed up. Btw… you forgot your makeup and you left your hair in your bun.

Scarlett Johansson was a no no. What the hell did she wear, last Tuesday’s vomit? She’s in this rockroll edgy phase I think. I don’t like it. Salma Hayek just wore her glam nightgown and didn’t bother too much. Ah well… we were all in pyjamas too at that point, why bother.

Charlize Theron and Halle Berry. Why? Maybe it’s just me but I thought they looked kinda meh. Bored. Not wow. Charlize Theron’s dress was too much fabric, and wrong hair, and colour of the dress. Bad styling. And Halle’s was great, but I think the hair ruined it. There I said it. You can now judge me and hate me.

Your turn.

xoxo
