met-gala-2014-red-carpet (13)Judging by the red carpet excitement I woke up with this morning, you might as well have presumed that hell has frozen over. Or I bumped my head or something. Although I’ve no recollection of the latter, who the hell knows what’s going on at night. Actually the bump would explain why I so eagerly awaited for the 2014 Met Gala Red Carpet, when in fact I usually hate red carpet posts. Watching the shows and looking at the pics… well, that’s a different story. Who the hell doesn’t wanna play fashion police with their friends and destroy celebs as if pffff they’re so last Tuesday for not dressing the way you expected them to?

Also, it kinda feels like it’s been a while since a proper red carpet happened, and this one, well… was worth the wait, let me just say that. The biggest night in fashion was definitely marked by super high highs and oh some nasty lows. met-gala-2014-red-carpet (30)Worst Dressed at The 2014 Met Gala

I mean, PEOPLE, (1) it’s bloody fashion, not rocket science, and (2) are you not suppose to have stylists when you’re saaay – Solange? Or Margot Robbiemet-gala-2014-red-carpet (36)"Charles James: Beyond Fashion" Costume Institute GalaAnd LUPITA!!!! what were you thinking? Why? The same emptiness must have been going through the Olson‘s minds (all three of ’em), and Shailene Woodley & Kristen Stewart. Crissy Teigen‘s boob had its own moment. Quite surprisingly it managed to outstage that ruffled peacock neck. "Charles James: Beyond Fashion" Costume Institute Gala - Arrivals"Charles James: Beyond Fashion" Costume Institute Gala - Arrivals

Even. Get me started. On Lena Dunham. I will not even dignify her dress with a capital-letter wtf. I get she’s like trying to be quirky and not give a shit about what she looks like, or what the world thinks of her, cause all this can’t-be-bothered-thing is so blase, it’s cool, but really stop it. Or just go all the way on this infatuation and don’t bother waxing, shaving, perfuming, or washing all together. That’ll put you on a quirky pedestal. Oh wait. You can’t do that, cause actually you do care. So. Cut the fucking bullshit and man up to your status. Learn how to pose, listen to the stylists, and cover your fucking arms and upper body. Yes I just said that. Y’all can hate me now, but the girl looks bad in all these strapless things she’s wearing. 1. She can’t pose for shit. 2. A different dress shape would do wonders on her (cap sleeves, cinged at the waist, long, forget bloody ruffles and girly details, you’re fucking 20, not 12.) And do something about your hair. met-gala-2014-red-carpet-lena-dunhamOther than that, I love her. And I think she’s brilliant. Somebody just needs to tell her it’s okay to wanna look pretty.

Well, if there’s one other thing this rant has guaranteed (besides haters) it’s that Taylor Swift is off the hook today. Yeah, yeah. She looked great. Hate the hair though. Did somebody say glam-granny? met-gala-2014-red-carpet (33)And if you think these were bad, wait till you see Kate Upton. What in God’s name is that? Didn’t anyone tell her Met Gala is not Costume Freak Show. (well, it is a little bit, but not literally). Clearly, she was at the wrong party. Great laugh though. Thanks Kate. Better luck next time maybe. If not, we’ll still love you. met-gala-2014-red-carpet-kate-uptonOoopsy, looks like the post’s started off on the Worst Dressed list, so why not give in to the impulse, and continue. Rita Ora is one hot beautiful woman, no argue there, and when she nails it, boy she stuns. Not the case last night. Beautiful she looked, loved her hair and makeup, but that dress was hideous: gladiator bride broke an arm and came to a party a little too late. Could’ve worked sans le Xena the warrior princess boots, lose the arm bandage, and that white bridezilla tulle. met-gala-2014-red-carpet (2)And Naomi Campbell, we get that you’ll never age and will always be gorgeous, but that dress? No. No. No. What the fuck was she thinking with those feathers? I have an idea. It rhymes with ‘brushing’. met-gala-2014-red-carpet-naomi-campbellOther girls I didn’t quite like were: Alexa Chung (hated the dress and I’m too bored with the same hair and makeup. I know, why fix it if it ain’t broken, but do something different. At least once a year. You are considered a style icon, after all.), Karlie Kloss (too bloody matronly, with a glam granny hair), Hayden Pannattiere (she was okay, I’m just not too sold on these massive ball gowns, that SJP was doing as well, hence my meh comment for her too.) Sorry. Karolina Kurkova looked like she could sting somebody with that dress, while Reese Witherspoon looked like a very very very very sweet desert. Cheap candy, more like it. Loved the silhouette, hated that I-just-threw-up-in-my-mouth pink and her hair. "Charles James: Beyond Fashion" Costume Institute Gala - Arrivals"Charles James: Beyond Fashion" Costume Institute Gala - Arrivals"Charles James: Beyond Fashion" Costume Institute Gala - Arrivalsmet-gala-2014-red-carpet (34)karolina-kurkova-marchesa-dress-met-gala"Charles James: Beyond Fashion" Costume Institute Gala - ArrivalsBest Dressed at 2014 Met Gala

Saving the best for last, I swear – the best – was by far the best red carpet I’ve seen in a while. That, or I really must’ve bumped my head or something. Assuming it’s the first situation I’ve got a top 3 favorite, without any particular order, just cause for the past 3 hours, they kept switching between themselves, so I’m just throwing my faves out there as they come.

Emma Stone was ravishing in that bright/pale pink dress (well, crop top and high slit skirt). The hair and makeup were pure perfection with the whole look. Loved. It. "Charles James: Beyond Fashion" Costume Institute Gala - ArrivalsRihanna! She always nails it and I’m always the most excited to see what she’s gonna rock. She is my girl crush after all. Following the same design pattern as Emma, only edgier (doh) and sexier (no surprise there either) she looked absofuckinglutely stunning. Loved the white combo against her skin, loved the mermaid skirt and the long sleeve super crop top with those glam details around the neck. The hair… not my fave. I would’ve gone for a more sleek hairstyle. "Charles James: Beyond Fashion" Costume Institute Gala - ArrivalsRihanna-Met-Gala-2014 (1)Also, did you see her dress at the after party? Dayum. met-gala-2014-red-carpet (14)If there’s a woman who’s got perfection and elegance in her bones that’s gotta be Charlize Theron. Oh. My. God. That dress was amazing and the way she chose to wear her tuxedo jacket as a shawl/cape – perfection! That’s how you do it. met-gala-2014-red-carpet (20)And although this time Beyonce looked soooo good (was about time), I’m still sticking to my 1st impression: somebody’s copying Rihanna’s bedroom-red-carpet-white-dress-look. Just saying. Other than that Bey looked smashing hot: makeup, hair, veil LOVED them all. beyonce-givenchy-dress-met-gala-2014beyonce-met-gala-2014-red-carpetEven Kim Kardashian looked so good this year. ;) kim_kardashian-met-gala-2014-red-carpetkim-kardashian-balmain-met-gala-2014-red-carpetAlso loved Jessica Alba, Kate Mara, Cara Delevingne, Olivia Munn, and the beautiful Blake Lively who just gave the whole world a lesson on how to do old-Hollywood-style in a fabulous way. met-gala-2014-red-carpet (37)georgia-may-met-gala-2014-red-carpetjessica-alba-met-gala-2014-red-carpetKate-Bosworth-met-gala-2014-red-carpet"Charles James: Beyond Fashion" Costume Institute Gala - Arrivals"Charles James: Beyond Fashion" Costume Institute Gala - Arrivals"Charles James: Beyond Fashion" Costume Institute Gala - Arrivals"Charles James: Beyond Fashion" Costume Institute Gala - Arrivals"Charles James: Beyond Fashion" Costume Institute Gala - Arrivals"Charles James: Beyond Fashion" Costume Institute Gala - Arrivals"Charles James: Beyond Fashion" Costume Institute Gala - Arrivals"Charles James: Beyond Fashion" Costume Institute Gala - Arrivalsmet-gala-2014-red-carpet (21)"Charles James: Beyond Fashion" Costume Institute Gala - Arrivals"Charles James: Beyond Fashion" Costume Institute Gala - Arrivalsmet-gala-2014-red-carpet (31) "Charles James: Beyond Fashion" Costume Institute Gala - Arrivals"Charles James: Beyond Fashion" Costume Institute Gala - Arrivalsmet-gala-2014-red-carpet (32)met-gala-2014-red-carpetmet-gala-2014-red-carpet-kate-maramet-gala-2014-red-carpet-rachel-mcadams… aaaaand that’s a wrap. Who was your best and worst?

oscars-2014-winners-photos__140303075535The much awaited film slash red carpet fashion event of the year came and went, in what felt like a heartbeat. And it was great. In fact, fashion wise it was one of the best I’ve seen in a long time. As a film geek and a fashion addict I enjoyed it tremendously sans le Oscar snub Dicaprio was yet again faced with. Seriously? Let’s not go there though. Maybe in a next post.

Another ‘seriously! wtf?’ moment for me was Jennifer Lawrence fall. Cooooome ooooon now. You can’t tell a good joke twice and hope it has the same laughing effect you know. That’s what I thought of the fall anyway. And the back necklace. It was Oscars 2013 re-run, that may have us like her even more, or not so much. Great timing that Daft Punk was there to give her a hand. Not. But that would have been hilarious. Oscars_2014__Jennifer_Lawrence_falls_over____againLupita Nyong’o was the belle of the ball, nailing the award for best supporting actress, delivering an emotional, very endearing and inspiring speech while looking incredible in her duck egg blue flowy dress. Ethereal and so feminine. lupita-nyongo-2014-oscars-red-carpet-And speaking of speeches – Matthew McConaughey’s was by far my fave with the already coined phrase ‘alright, alright, alright.’

Let’s talk fashion though. It was all white, ivory, metallics and dusted feminine colors. Even tux wise, so many men opted for the retro classic white tux jacket. Jared Leto, Matthew McConaughey, Ryan Seacrest I’m looking at you. 86th Annual Academy Awards - Show1972409_10152320229985127_434643368_nI know the title of this post is about best AND worst, but I’m having a very kind moment right now, and really feel that this year most actresses nailed it. It only comes to show you if you keep it simple and classy, and go for feminine styles you’ll probably so effortlessly land on the best dressed list. Although, honestly I don’t know how much they actually give a crap about these lists invading the internet post-Oscars, but for the sake of conversation we’ll keep doing them.

Best Dressed at the 2014 Oscars.

Everyone. Well almost. Lupita stole the show in that Nairobi blue custom made Prada dress and her headband. Regarding the latter… (please don’t hate) I’m not very sold on it. Yeah, she pulled it off. She’s incredibly beautiful, feminine, young, fun, elegant, so a sack on her head would have had the same effect. To me that tiara was a bit of a last minute bling. 2014-oscars-red-carpet-lupita-nyongoAnd then there were the ladies in whites and dusted ivory colors with sequins, crystals beads and metallics. Angelina Jolie: OMG. I’m never so in aww with her granny dresses, but this… this Elie Saab gown was perfection. angelina-jolie-2014-oscars-red-carpet-Cate Blanchet: a HIT! It was so her, in that understated glamorous way. Beautiful. cate-blanchet-Jessica Biel was the epitome of simple elegance in an ivory metallic strapless gown and side parted old Hollywood hairstyle. Loved her look. jessica-biel-2014-oscars-red-carpetNaomi Watts: ah! Stunning in an effortless way. White, sparkly, cap-sleeve Calvin Klein. Loved her look and that necklace. naomi-watts-2014-oscars-red-carpetWhite goes a long way apparently. I wonder, do they all chat before and decide to start a red carpet trend? Who knows… but really those who went for the white’ish dresses rocked it. Kate Hudson shines on the red carpet. All. The. Time. She’s one of my faves. This year she opted for a gorgeous old Hollywood style in a white, plunging V-neckline, semi-cape-draping in the back, Versace frosty look. kate-hudson-2014-oscars-red-carpetKelly Osbourne’s always a favorite in my eyes. Loved her white dress. And her black one, in which she changed afterwards. Kelly-Osbourne-2014-oscars-red-carpet-And last but not least… Camila Alves. Simply beauty & perfection. Loved the dusted pink dress with a bit of draping. camila-alves-2014-oscars-red-carpet-matthew-mcconaghey-camila-alves-2014-oscars-red-carpetThen there were the black/red/dark-ER colors. It is said those do not photograph that well, and are not so wow-ing for the Oscars, but… whatever. I mean, did you see Charlize Theron. That’s how you do fashion on the red carpet. LOVE. That Dior dress fits her ridiculously well, and her short hair and minimal jewelry compliment this ultimate elegance. charlize-theron-2014-oscars-red-carpetAmy Adams went for a very simple, clean cut dress. The exact opposite of her character, and her past choices. She did say she chose this dress for herself, cause she wanted to feel comfy classy simple and chic. Loved the earrings and all this clean elegant look. may-adams-2014-oscars-red-carpet-Kerry Washington – amazing! Perfect dress. Loved the hair & the dark lips. kerry-weashington-2014-oscars-red-carpet-Jennifer Lawrence. Okay she’s beautiful and fun no matter what. I really liked her Dior red peplum dress, although I thought the peplum was placed too low for her long torso. But maybe it was just a bad angle. Love her new hair and the classic elegance it oozes. The back necklace? Been there done that. By her. Last year. As was the fall. jennifer-lawrence-2014-oscars-red-carpet-Sandra Bullock did her own thing and wore a simple but slightly sophisticated dress in dark blue. Minimal bling and just let own self and inner elegance and beauty do the work. And it worked. Simple and beautiful. movies-oscars-2014-sandra-bullock-red-carpetOlivia Wilde – gorgeous! As most actresses she too went for simple, classy and time-less and nailed it 100%. Loved her earrings and her makeup. Speaking of makeup, it was all about natural: nude lips & pale skin. 2014-oscars-red-carpet-olivia-wilde2014-oscars-red-carpet (2)olivia_wilde_2014-oscars-red-carpetAnne Hathaway is one lady I’m not always so keen on fashion wise, but this year against most people’s dislike in her armor chest dress – I liked it. It had slightly more edge and overall looked classy and pretty. Emma Watson kept it classy and chic and Jennifer Garner looked beautiful as always in the trend of the night. But those platform shoes!!! Hideous. ann-hathaway-2014-oscars-red-carpetemma-watson-2014-oscars-red-carpet-jennifer-garner-2014-oscars-red-carpet-86th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivalsportia-de-rossi-2014-oscars-red-carpetWorst Dressed at the 2014 Oscars.

Well, I’m not sure about the worst pre se, except Liza Minelli maybe. Once a drama queen always a drama queen. Everyone was sold on her look. Not me. What in the name of God is up with the blue hair? Oh… I get it. She wanted to color coordinate with that cobalt blue thing. I mean dress. Jumpsuit. Whatever. Hobbit alert. The thing is that silk satin fabric does not photograph well at all. It rarely looks great on 6ft tall skinny models. I guess if anyone could have pulled it off, that would have been Liza. Or maybe she just needed a mirror. And a bra. liza-minelli-2014-oscars-red-carpet-The rest of the ladies were OK, not necessarily worst. Julia Roberts looked great – hair and makeup, and even the dress is OK on her. Frankly I don’t like the fabric, it looks like cheap lace, too thick, too stiff, a bit too boxy from the waist down. julia-roberts-2014-oscars-red-carpet-Anna Kendrick. First of all kudos for choosing a black, edgier style. Didn’t quite nail it, but it’s only the 1st time. anna-kendrick-2014-oscars-red-carpetMargot Robbie looked like crap. She’s probably doing the dark hair for a movie role (thank God) but that dress looked hidious on her. The back was pretty interesting, but the front looked square, dull, unfitted and I don’t know… I like her more as a blonde. margot-robbie-2014-oscars-red-carpet-rogbbie-margot-2014-oscars-red-carpetOh… wait. I just realized there are a few worst dressed winners. We love them all, but there’s no show without a few misses, right? So there you have it. lady-gaga-2014-oscars-red-carpetoscars-2014-worst-dressedworst-dressedAll in all it was a fantastic red carpet, all about understated glamour, classic sophistication, nude lips, ivory shades, crystals, beads and metallics in a very subtle timeless way. It was the year of less is more. :)

rihanna-pre-grammy-2014miley-cyrus-pre-grammyOh, Miley! Where were you? And Rihanna! A red carpet is never fun without these 2. (the above pics are from the pre-Grammy-gala). Having said that, the 2014 Red Carpet at the Grammy Awards was all about glamour and playing it safe. That’s what I thought anyway. Not that anyone cares. Thank God for Beyonce’s performance with hubby Jay-Z. Pure HOTNESS and talent. And for talent meets awkwardness there was Lorde, of course. beyonce-2014-Grammy-red-carpet-dressesOkay, let’s focus on what we give a shit about: fashion on the red carpet. Truth is, most of the dresses were great, only a few having landed on the worst dress. As for the looks, there seemed to have been 2 teams: au naturelle versus dark heavy makeup, both styles being exquisite.

As for the dresses, most ladies opted for mermaid cuts, sheer, lace and all the glam that comes with it. Less edge & wacky looks, which is OK I guess, although being a music event I would have expected so much more craziness from the pop & rock stars.

Best Dressed – 2014 Grammy Awards

My favorite dresses and looks were, in no particular order: Kelly Osbourne (also adored the moment when her dad, Ozzy arrived on the red carpet with Black Sabbath and chatted with his beloved fashionista daughter over the mic. Aww!), Beyonce, Rita Ora, Pink, Giuliana Rancic, Taylor Swift (yeah, you heard me), & Amber Rose… 2014-Grammy-red-carpet-dresses-kelly-osbourne2014-Grammy-red-carpet-dresses-beyonce2014-Grammy-red-carpet-dresses-rita-oragiuliana-rancic-2014-Grammy-red-carpet-dresses2014-Grammy-red-carpet-dresses (9)2014-Grammy-red-carpet-dresses22014-Grammy-red-carpet-dresses-taylor-swiftciara-2014-Grammy-red-carpet-dressespink-2014-Grammy-red-carpet-dressesparis-hilton-2014-Grammy-red-carpet-dressestamara-braxton-2014-Grammy-red-carpet-dressesThen there were a few edgy ones, the ones you either love or hate like: Zendaya or Bonnie McKee2014-Grammy-red-carpet-dresses (4)Bonnie-McKee-2014-Grammy-red-carpet-dressesThe classy (borderline boring for some) ones like Anna Faris2014-Grammy-red-carpet-dresses (7)The unexpected great dressed ones like Anna Kendrick. She looked great, I thought, given she always kinda misses the style on the red carpet. This time she looked glamorous, fun & young. anna-kendrick-2014-Grammy-red-carpet-dressesThe ones I still don’t know if I like or not: Katy Perry I’m looking at you. Alicia Keys: great color, not sure about the dress though. That V cut was a bit too… deep cut. Also Natasha Bedingfied, I actually liked her dress, and the color was amazing, she just ruined it all with that hairstyle. 2014-Grammy-red-carpet-dresses-Katy-Perry2014-Grammy-red-carpet-dresses32014-Grammy-red-carpet-dresses (6)The super cute: Ariana Grande. lu-590x564Just finished catching up on 2014 Golden Globes and a few things linger in my head as highlights:

  • Elizabeth Moss giving the middle finger on the manicure camera. Finally some fun, right?
  • Beauty looks (read make up & hair) reigning over dresses this year.
  • Tina Fey slams Taylor Swift yet again. Excuse the gloating, just can’t help myself.
  • The cape of Lupita Nyong.
  • The winners. (Leo, with the supermodel joke making it even better. Jennifer Lawrence, though I’ve heard complaints due to her role being so little. She did win for supportive actress, right?)
  • Still don’t like Lena Dunham. There I said it. I have officially self subjected myself to world’s dismay.

2014-golden-globes-red-carpet-beauty-lookselisabeth-moss-middle-fingerlena-dunham-2014-golden-globes-red-carpetDebuting the red carpet season, a few trends were making quite the wave: metallics, colored dresses & bare backs. Or intricate backs. amy-adams-golden-globes-2014-dressBest Red Carpet Dresses & Looks at 2014 Golden Globes.

My faves include: Olivia Wilde‘s metallic slash sequined dark green long sleeve half bare back and cute tummy dress. Loved her simple side parted hair (biggest red carpet hair trend) & smokey yet natural makeup.

Kelly Osbourne looked HOT as hell, stating herself she did not feel this sexy on the red carpet ever. Loved her dress, her gold details on the gown and on her stiletto nails, which may be losing spotlight this year, but if you love it and can pull it off, do it! I’m all for over the top details and extravagant accessories.

Naomi Watts was the definition of simplicity, glamour, elegance and style in her light grey metallic gown and simple beauty look.

Never have a seen such a beautiful woman. Flawless & gorgeous without even trying. Simplicity at its best. Yes, I can acknowledge its interesting’ness and high fashion trait, (it was the talk of the event after all) but if I were to speak the truth and nothing but the truth: I wasn’t sold on it. Lupita Nyong'oNBC's "71st Annual Golden Globe Awards" - ArrivalsElizabeth Moss was most definitely the star of the mani camera for flipping the bird so unexpectedly. Kate Beckinsdale went for a metallic look and pulled it off, sort of. The woman could wear a sack over her head and still look hot, but it was the same ol’ type of gown (mermaid, strapless etc). If Sofia Vergara opted for a different silhouette this year, it could only mean 2 things. (1) It’s OK if we all follow her example, or (2) The world has come to an end. The latter though makes more sense. At least if we’re to talk about her dress per se. Seriously, Sofia? She’s a beauty and a hot mama no matter what, but I’m not gonna mask my disappointment on this one. For no reason, just Taylor you know. Although this year I’ve been done a little justice by Tina Fey’s slamming of the young pop star and by Jennifer Lawrence who said she was about to push her over the stairs. (joking of course). I hear you sista’. Sans le joke. Doh. Poor thing (the Swift) taking so much crap from so many people., even those who don’t know her. Although I guess knowing her would barely change a thing. Fashion wise: the dress was a love it or hate it situation. In my case the obvious being the latter, due to all the back strangled fabric of that damn dress. She looked like she sat on a massive marshmallow that was now stuck up her ass. While she’ll struggle pulling it out, she might as well take the stick outta there as well. rihanna-american-music-awards-2013-red-carpetYou know how I always bitch about covering red carpets events, and tend to avoid posting about them too often, just cause it always seems to be a case of best & worst (guilty as charged) and been-there-done-that lists, glamour and all that crap. So it all feels futile. And I swore to not do this shit again until the Oscars, but… so much for this promise. After looking at the red carpet photos from 2013 American Music Awards, and watching the performances… I gave in. I’m only human after all. So… I thought I’d share all my faves and not so faves with you, my lovelies.

Aside from this year’s fabulous dresses, gotta say… some of the performances were beyond mind blowing. Yes, Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga featuring R Kelly, I’m looking at you on this one. katy-perry-performs-ama-awards-2013These days it’s all about Miley Cyrus – but boy did she deliver big time. A heartbreaking performance on a background that had the sweetest cat in the whole world (and I don’t even like cats), with the saddest most beautiful eyes, that were all tears at some point, the exact point when Miss Cyrus’s performance was incredibly intense, honest and raw. Loved it. As I loved Miley Cyrus’s red carpet outfit: white suit & natural look. Simple, chic, sophisticated and incredibly feminine. miley-amas-2013Lady Gaga was stuck in her Donatella Versace mood and showed up in a dress similar to the one from her recent add. I thought she was stunning and (not that often I get to say this in regards to Gaga) beautiful. Her performance was amazing, with tiny subtle (or not) references to America’s thirst for scandal: see JFK & Marilyn Monroe, or Bill Clinton’s sex scandal, or the pressure she got from the press (Gaga’s fat, she’s over, she’s on dope etc). And she looked fabulous. In that Marilyn Monroe little costume, comfortable in her body and singing the shit out of her. Beautiful performance. Lady-Gaga-in-Versace-2013-American-Music-Awards-AMAs-PerformingAnd… saving the best for last – Rihanna – she was in my eyes (no surprise there) the star of the night. From her look, to her brilliant performance, all down to her speech as she received the Icon Award (first time in history) at the AMAs 2013, straight from Monica Fenty, her mother. And while I’m always a bit skeptical and not so blind when it comes to her performances, cause she’s no Beyonce or Lady Gaga (no offence) I must say – Rihanna is all grown up. Her voice, her giving in to music & to the night were phenomenal. She sang her heart out, with so much intensity and emotion like I’ve personalty never seen her. It was her night and she owned it big time! And that Gaultier bustier & skirt… OMG! My favorite. rihanna-2013-amas-awardsThe night was definitely not short on amazing moments and performances, like Katy Perry’s & TLC’s performance, which took me back in time, and I loved every minute of it. Enough about the music, it’s Fashion’s time to shine!

This is my list of BEST & WORST – 2013 AMA’s Red Carpet!

Best Dresses – 2013 AMAs

If I had an award to give to just one person last night, for best dressed, drumrolls please… it would have gone to Rihanna. Professing my love for her style is already starting to sound redundant, so I’ll got to my next faves. In no particular order this time (except for Taylor Swift maybe, just cause you know… she’ll never be my fave as much as she’ll top any other. Pure personal dislike. Other than that I’m sure she’s a great gal.) here are the winners: Aimee Song (yes the fashion blogger) killed it in that grungy glam black mini dress. Perfect hair and makeup as always. Alicia Silversone (is she still alive? What the hell was she doing there anyway?) looked kinda OK. Loved the dress. It was perhaps the awkward pose that led to my only-OK vote. rihanna-backstage-amas2013-red-carpetaimee-song-american-music-awards-2013-red-carpetalicia-silverstone-american-music-awards-2013-red-carpetgiuliana-rancic-american-music-awards-2013-red-carpetnicole-richie-american-music-awards-2013-naya-rivera-2013-AMAs-red-carpetNicole Richie looked stunning in white. Seems to have been last night’s red carpet theme. That and the metallics. Oh and JLO, going as… Jennifer Lopez in her mermaid, glamorous, see through, sequined/beaded dress. Katy Perry was beautiful, but then again she always is. Miley Cyrus went for the white look. Fantastic. And again… love her. So, had she gone for something less generally beautiful, chances are I’d have liked it as well. jennifer-lopez-casper-smart-american-music-awards-2013-red-carpetkaty-perry-american-music-awards-red-carpet2013 American Music Awards - ArrivalsNaya Rivera… let’s all go and kill ourselves. Hot as hell. And beautiful. Zoe Saldana was stunning, but what she was doing there is a total mystery to me. And one of my faves of the night: The Jenner/Kardashian Sisters. The juniors are all grown up, hot as hell and so beautiful. Each went for different looks, Kendall Jenner for a very sexy feminine white look & red lips, and Kylie Jenner for an edgier style, with cool bangs & cool attitude. naya-rivera-2013-AMAs-red-carpetkendall-kylie-amas-2013kendall-jenner-american-music-awards-2013-red-carpetkendall-kylie-jenner-american-music-awards-2013-red-carpetkylie-jenner-american-music-awards-2013-red-carpetzoe-saldana-american-music-awards-2013-red-carpetariana-grande-american-music-awards-2013-red-carpetbrandi-cyrus-american-music-awards-2013-red-carpetciara-american-music-awards-2013-red-carpetjordin-sparks-american-music-awards-2013-red-carpetwell, these were not best, but not worst either… so I guess OK. jennifer-hudson-american-music-awarsd-2013-red-carpet

Don’t feel like ruining my mojo right now and going all bitchy on these hot ladies, cause after all you know, we all got good and bad days. Or stylists. But Emma Roberts? What the hell girl. Don’t you have a mirror or something? Ah… if I had your money I’d have killed it. Just saying you know. (when in doubt go for a simple black dress. Or red, or white. But SIMPLE.) Same would go for others, but why bother. There’re always gonna be those to make it to this list anyway. emma-roberts-american-music-awards-2013-red-carpetheidi-klum-american-music-awards-2013-red-carpetjoan-jett-american-music-awards-2013-red-carpetkeltie-knight-american-music-awards-2013-red-carpetlil-mama-american-music-awards-2013-red-carpetred-carpet-2013AMAsChristina Aguilerra… thought she was Marilyn last night. Emmys-2013-Hair-Makeup-Red-Carpet-beauty-looksAs all red carpets before and those to come, the 2013 Emmys were a celebration and mirror of beauty & fashion, with most ladies looking stunning in their designer gowns, all dolled up, excited, a bit nervous yet relaxed at the same time. After all, it is to us these events bare the wow factor, to them, it’s just another working day with the inherent beauty & style top notch requirements. I don’t know what t is about these red carpets events but they get us hoked on the fashion critique chats every time. And though we love to see those who nailed it (and there were so many this year), ah… I swear the bitch persona sleeping in all of us comes to live when a famous face wears the worst dress ever. Must be the confirmation & satisfaction we get that we’re all but mere mortals, subjected to fashion failure every now and then, and that not even the stars with they’re array of stylists and beauticians can escape landing on a worst dressed list at least once. Feels good doesn’t it? Though let’s face it girls, everyone, and I mean everyone looks all prepped up for the event, and good, and they’re all there for a reason (talent and hard work) so we’re just playing a Fashion Guru pretend game over here. emmys-2013-dressesHaving said that, the 2013 Emmys Red Carpet came with a few trends we might want to keep an eye on if we’re to attend red carpet events ourselves this year. Ha! Read weddings, cocktails, dinners et all. :) Muted colors in those powdered ice-cream shades (light blues, pinks, whites) alongside strong shades of purple and cobalt blues were pretty big. Emerald green took the spotlight in dresses and jewelry. Sheer fabric, a bit of glam goth and red-orange lips were a few repeated looks among the stars.

Best Dressed 2013 Emmy Red Carpet

The white dresses were (to me) the winners of the night. Taylor Schilling looked stunning in her simple white Thakoon dress with her one-strap sandals. Sofia Vergara did her ‘why fix it if it ain’t broken thing’: mermaid, cleavage, Vera Wang, va va voom spin. She’s a knock out, anyway, but I would have loved to see her with less jewelry this time and a different hairstyle. Maybe. Christina Hendriks looked beautiful in her simple yet dramatic Christian Siriano black dress and emerald green earrings. Fabulous look! Though I’m not a fan of all the structured ruffles on a dress, Rocsi Diaz was simply beautiful in her blue cobalt mermaid dress. Perfect silhouette, hair and makeup. taylor-schilling-emmys-2013-red-carpet-dressemmys-2013-red-carpet-dresschristina-hendriks-2013-emmy-red-carpet-dressemmy-red-carpet-dressSheer wise, Julianne Hough and Lena Headley rocked big time. Again, I was proved wrong, as I really dislike sheer on the red carpet, but they looked fantastic. E! stars Giuliana Rancic and Kelly Osbourne nailed it this year. julianne-hough-red carpet-dress-2013-emmys2013-emmy-red-carpet-dresses-12013-emmy-red-carpet-dresses-giuliana-rancickelly_osbourne-emmys-red-carpetOther Best Dressed ladies I thought were: Sarah Hyland in her emerald green dress. I do think the dress is a little too safe and old for her, but she did however looked more than stunning in this color. Rose Byrne, Kerry Washington & Malin Akerman make it to the best dressed list as well. 2013-emmy-red-carpet-dressesrose-Byrne-2013-emmy-red-carpet2013-emmy-red-carpet2013-emmy-red-carpetThen there are the OK girls: Elizabeth Moss, Tina fey, Zoey Deschanel, and maybe Heidi Klum. She’s so gorgeous all the time, but I’m not sold on her looks very often. I guess it’s just a matter of taste. I thought she was trying too much, she looked like a stiff statue desperately seeking attention… Just saying. elizabeth-moss-2013-emmy-red-carpet2013-emmy-red-carpet2013-emmy-red-carpetheidi-klum-2013-emmy-red-carpet-dreess2013-emmy-red-carpet-12013-emmy-red-carpet-dresses-january-jonesWorst Dresses 2013 Emmy Red Carpet

Ah… and the fun begins. With Lena Dunham. What in the name of God is that? Oh… wait Prada. Well, if Prada can’t save you, then you’re way off. Bad color, bad style, too big, too much. And what the hell was going on with her makeup? Next! Connie Britton – she wasn’t as bad as Lena, but she did come across as if she just stole an ancient Byzantine curtain and made it to the event. Anna Faris looked ridiculous in that yellow dress. The gown was fabulous just not for her hair and complexion. And then there was Claire Danes. I’ll refrain myself from swearing this time (though a **** is way called for), but despite the good reviews she got for that dress, I thought she looked so bad. Yes the dress was nice, amazing fabric, beads, lace et all, but, I did not like it on her. At all. And the rest of the looks speak for themselves. Or not. Feel free to disagree and let’s chat over all this (hot) mess. :) lena-dunham-2013-emmy-red-carpetconnie-britton-emmys-2013-red-carpet-012013-emmy-red-carpet-dresses-anna-faris2013-emmy-red-carpet-dresses2013-emmy-red-carpet-dresses2013-emmy-red-carpet-dresses2013-emmy-red-carpet-dresses2013-emmy-red-carpet-dresses2013-emmy-red-carpet-dresses

Thought I’d stay away from all the hot mess that happened at the VMA’s this year, for no other reason than a tiny laziness to do a red carpet post yet again, and think well whether I should or should not take a stand on all of Miley’s bombshell persona coming out. The event per se will not even be up for discussion right now for the simple reason that I forgot to watch the awards this year (yeah I know, how ignorant of me. rolling my eyes right now), but I did browse the marvelous world wide web for red carpet infamous pics (kinda disappointing, I mean “dear celebs, y’all knew this was the VMA’s on MTV, not the Oscars or the likes, right?”), and my fashionista slash style-critique persona just couldn’t shut the hell up. So I had to do this post. :) 2013-vma-red-carpet-taylor-swiftIf I hadn’t known any better I’d say hell has frozen because (as much as it pains me, and it does) I’m gonna say it… best dressed at 2013 VMA’s was none other than Taylor Swift. From the design, cut, color, simplicity of that old Hollywood dress, to the hair and makeup (kinda same old same old, but I’ll let that one slide, as I’m in a good mood today), Miss Swift was stunning. There I said it. Why ”all the love” for the young artist? The poor thing has never done anything to piss anyone off, tbh with you, but I. Just. Don’t. Like. Her. And I think we’re all allowed to have that one person (whom we may not even know personally) who we just can’t see eye to eye with. Aaaaaanyway… her bff Selena Gomez was all super stiff stylish in her Atelier Versace gown… I’m OK with the dress, though I thought it was a bit too much, too matronly, though it might as well be one of those gowns that does not photograph well from all angles, cause I’ve seen a few pics in which I actually loved it. Continuing our best dressed (read OK) list is Katy Perry and her grillz. Will not got there today. Someday though we’ll talk grillz. katyperry-grillz-2013-vma-red-carpet2013 MTV Video Music Awards - Red Carpetselena-gomez-2013-vma-red-carpetI don’t know if it’s just me, or what, but I just think all the girls were too Golden Globes/Oscars for the VMA. Too much, too red carpet’ish. FYI, every now and then, our dearest idols, you might want to pull that stick out of your asses and take yourselves less seriously. For instance Ciara, Rita Ora, or even Naya Rivera, while they all looked so hot and beautiful, I just thought it was too much for the occasion. 2013 MTV Video Music Awards - Red Carpetnaya-rivera-2013-vma-red-carpet2013 MTV Video Music Awards - Red Carpetmiley-cyrus-2013-vma-red-carpet2013 MTV Video Music Awards - Red CarpetOthers like Miley Cyrus or Erin in her see-through-looks-like-sandwich-wrap-dress, were having just a bit too much fun. It was nice though to see Lady Gaga back, looking great and shocking us all with a normal black pretty nice dress. She did however went all the way in her sea-shells-costume ;) later on. Good for you girl! 2013 MTV Video Music Awards - Red Carpet2013 MTV Video Music Awards - Red Carpet2013 MTV Video Music Awards - ShowAnd the rest were… bleah-borderline-OK. Oh… Ellie Goulding, now I thought she looked very MTV’ish VMA appropriate. (think posh/glam) and also Coco Rocha & Rihanna. Perhaps too simple, and everyday like looks, but the others should get a few notes from these gals: effortless, cool, sexy without even trying & fun. Just saying. ellie-goulding-2013-vma-red-carpetJennifer-Hudson-2013-vma-red-carpetshailene-woodley-2013-vma-red-carpetcoco-rocha-vma-red-carpet-2013rihanna-2013-vmaI remember the oh-so-present-today-90s, when I wouldn’t miss a single VMA or EMA, glued to MTV. That was a true celebration & party for the stars. Funky fun fashion forward looks in the same room with those musicians who couldn’t care less if they showed up in they bare bums, pajamas, or jeans. Nobody gave a fuck, yet it was this je m’en fish‘ism that had us all emulating rockstars & popstars like mad fans. All of the sudden with the naughties settling in we’ve all become too politically correct, too stiff, boring and bored. 2013 MTV Video Music Awards - Red CarpetPreoccupied more on what some websites or bloggers are saying about some event, dress, dance or Instagram pic, than about what they’re actually doing – celebs are giving us plain shallow eye-candy blog material for the Ka-ching! sound they get at the end of their day. And we the crowd… are so appalled by a 20 year old girl’s twerk. Seriously? We never had any problem when Oasis after winning their MTV awards would grab the mics to chat about A class drugs, getting wasted or banging some TV presenter. How come that never triggered the public’s dismay? 2013 MTV Video Music Awards - ShowSo what, Miley was shaking all her horny bits to some dude I don’t even like, dancing and singing her thang up there, while the Smiths were in shock (lol) and all of a sudden the world was a different place. Really now? Isn’t that what happens at most clubs, isn’t twerking and shaking asses and boobs so common these days? I would’ve imagined Madonna’s shows cured us of that puritanical hypocrisy a while ago. Besides, (this may come as a news flash for some) Miley is not Hanna Montana, and she’s not 10 anymore, she’s 20. She does get laid, and in this process of discovering all her woman-whatever-persona, she’s doing her own thing. It’s all zoomed in due to her VIP status, that’s all. Today she’s doing the Teddy Bear meets horny bitch theme, tomorrow she may turn all grunge, or boho-chic. miley-cyrusOh… and just for the record, while I couldn’t care less about what Miley‘s doing, the dance didn’t bother me a bit (reading all the tweets I was expecting it to be SO out of place, but after watching it on Youtube, I was like ”oh… is this it? wtf is the problem then?”). Other than that tongue, that is. That thing had a mind of its own and would just not stay in the bloody mouth.

And now let’s chat…

JoanSmalls-carousel_parties-met-galaThis year’s Met Gala sure had some controversy – fashion wise – with so many of you taking the Hate It or Love It side of the red carpet dresses. Was it too much? Too over the top? Too ridiculous? Or did the stars finally let their hair down on this one and got crazy style wise? I know most of you hated the looks and who can blame you/us, I mean did you see FashionTag‘s WTF Dresses list? (click here). OMG! But I have to be honest with you dolls… aside from the bad ones (which were utterly horrendous) I sort of liked the Red Carpet at the 2013 Met Gala. It was funky, crazy, edgy, fun and lots of stars chose to play up the punk look with uber wicked accessories: earrings, rings, nail art, hairdos, makeup, shoes... It’s the Oscars of the fashion lot so a little bit of weird is to be expected. Besides they’ll always gonna have the classic red carpet events for the more classy looks, right? Anyway… love it or hate it has sure got us talking about it and putting on our fashion critics hats on… so let’s just work with that. celebs-metgala-afterpartyThey came, they did the poses, the crazy faces, the punk & rock signs and then… they partied! And there’s nothing more delicious after a red carpet event than watching the stars backstage at an after-party. One more look at their hair & makeup and the dresses from a whole new angle. Who talked to who, who sat next to who, who photo bombed who? (we all know by now Jennifer Lawrence did it again lol. click here) Who got drunk? Who looked better or worse? Did Madonna try too hard and ended up looking ridiculous? Was SJP too over the top with that hat and dress? madonna-met-gala-afterparty-2013sjp-met-gala-2013-tablemetagala-carousel_party-table-settingBy the way, did you see the table setting and the food? Don’t get posher then this… Oh… and speaking of food (well sort of) how about that Alexa Chung’s kinky cream finger, Gerard Buttler was sucking on? I wonder what his gorgeous Romanian model, Madalina Ghenea thought about it? Anyway… the Brit It girl has got nothing on the Latina looking model. Sorry Chung! AlexaChung-gerard-butler-metgala-partySpeaking of the Brits… they sure stuck together backstage and stayed true to their party animal cool looking personas: Rita Ora, Cara Delevingne, Jourdan Dunn, Alexa Chung et all. JLo was having the time of her life dancing the night away next to her hot young man. She looked stunning. My favorite by far. Gisele Bundchen stuck close to her gorgeous man and looked super hot. Though I’ll tell you something about the Brazilian model: men seem to think she looks like a man!!! Wait what? Just today one of my lovely readers pointed out to me that, when seeing her, her hubby said she looked quite masculine. Funny? My BF and quite a few other people over time have pointed that out. tom brady and gisele-red-carpet-met-gala-2013Not too long ago I was bitching about covering red carpet events, though nobody held a gun to my head, and now here I am, overly excited to share with you last night’s Red Carpet Best & Worst looks from the 2013 MET GALA. I know, can I be more inconsistent? I guess it just comes to show you how every now and then we get an urge to love and hate those uber expensive gowns and gossip over who nailed it or not. Nothing wrong with it. Oh… and one more thing: all that Anna Wintour raining on Vivienne Westwood‘s parade talk (read the whole story here), plus the much gossiped about Kim Kardashian & Kanye West dinner at the Devil’s residence has indeed stirred my curiosity just a tiny bit. So just to set the record straight: fashion’s guru – Anna Wintour – banned an homage to the Queen of Punk, Vivienne Westwood, on the very MET GALA Punk: Chaos To Couture edition, and to top that cherry allowed Kim K to attend after banning her last year. Wintour, I guess somebody’s got a case of vagary. Or could it be that the Triple K’s needed some fashion advice? Which is not remotely an inappropriate question given the sofa looks on both Wintour & Kardashian. The 60 year old diva probably had to wear that Chanel dress (just to spite Westwood if not for anything else) and even she could tell it will not be her style night… so ‘who shall I call to make me look less stupid‘. Ding! And so the story unfolds with a beautiful Kim Kardashian draping herself in granny prints to sort of match the sofa & curtains on a spinster’s cottage in the woods. Why Kim? Why? And those gloves? And that Angelina leg? OMG. Don’t get me wrong now, I am not critiquing her pregnant style or whatev. I think the media should just back the fuck off and stop calling her fat. She’s pregnant! But she so could have gone for another look last night… Anyway. Enough about these two. wenn20322140"PUNK: Chaos To Couture" Costume Institute GalaWhen a friend of mine said to me just a few weeks ago, on a shopping spree which ended in me crushing yet again over spikes and studs, that the rock & punk attire is so last Tuesday I was like talk to the hand girlfriend. (1) Contrary to what some might think, with me always dropping the trend reports all over the place, I do not necessarily feel that one should take trends literally, as much as adapt them to their personal style. (2) I tend to disagree with her on this one. OK, so we might have had just a bit too much of spikes and studs (though I honestly do not believe it) but I think they’re still IN and if this PUNK: Chaos to couture MET GALA is not a clear sign, I don’t know what is. And indeed it was a cool display of classy meets Punk on the red carpet. Did you see Madonna? Wherever you stand on that one you gotta give the woman kudos for pulling off a total punk look a la Vivienne Westwood. It was shocking and very Madonna’ish. So was the red carpet at the 2013 Met Gala invaded by PUNK fashion: mohawks, chains, studs, pins, spikes, leather, lace, black et all? I should think so… it was pretty edgy, but then again the Met Gala tends to be a bit more adventurous.  red-carpet-met-gala-2013-madonnaLet’s get our hands dirty dolls and start taking sides and cutting into fashion’s fresh ‘meat’. Who owned it? Who was desperately seeking attention? Who was OK? And who are we still debating over?

Best Dressed – 2013 MET GALA Red Carpet

Quite a few ladies nailed it this year with my favorites being: Blake Lively in that beautiful powdered blue & dramatic black dress. The exact image of how a hint of punk can be added to a perfectly classy dress. Amber Heard in Emilio Pucci – simply stunning! Loved her hair and makeup too, actually I’m in love with this hairstyle that’s been going on for a while now: side swept/half shaved/side braided hair. Amanda totally rocked it. I guess a bit of Johnny Depp never hurt anyone ;) Jennifer Lopez looked fabulous in her tight fitted uber sexual kinda gown, with an edgy iguana print and badass hair style. Sienna Miller went for rock’n roll as well in her white innocent classy gown topped by a grunge leather jacket and some punk’ish hair & ear accessories. Though they might have been a little too over the top I actually loved Nicole Richie‘s white dress & hair (thought it was wicked) & Coco Rocha‘s funky cool dress. Not for everyone, but she did pull it off brilliantly. Cara Delevingne was just her cool old self in that gorgeous Burberry punk black studded gown. (sigh). The queen of fashionistas Sarah Jessica Parker went all the way and gave us all a ‘this is how you do it bitch’ lesson. If anyone could nail a crazy Phillip Treacy hat and over-the-top Giles Deacon dress at such an event, it has got to be SJP. Watch and weep. Amanda Seyfried looked amazing in her dramatic feminine busy printed dress, and Emmy Rossum (one of my faves) really mastered the decadent innocent look in that white crispy dress perfectly matched with dramatic earrings and heavy makeup. Stunning combo. Same vibe I got from Mara Rooney in her white frilled punk zippers dress. Other 2 ladies I loved were: Minka Kelly (fabulous and dramatic) and Jennifer Lawrence (simply classic with a bit of retro punk to it). And then there were the classic black & white dresses that you can never go wrong with on the red carpet. red-carpet-met-gala-2013-blake-lively-hair-makeupred-carpet-met-gala-2013-blake-livelyred-carpet-met-gala-2013-amber-heard-makeup-hair"PUNK: Chaos To Couture" Costume Institute Galared-carpet-met-gala-2013-Jennifer-Lopez-makeup-hair"PUNK: Chaos To Couture" Costume Institute Galared-carpet-met-gala-2013-sienna-millerred-carpet-met-gala-2013-nicole-richiered-carpet-met-gala-2013-coco-rochared-carpet-met-gala-2013-cara-delevingnered-carpet-met-gala-2013-Sarah-Jessica-Parker"PUNK: Chaos To Couture" Costume Institute Galared-carpet-met-gala-2013-emmy-rossum-beautyemmy-rossum-red-carpet-met-gala-2013rooney-mara-red-carpet-met-gala-2013red-carpet-met-gala-2013-rooney-maraminka-kelly-red-carpet-met-gala-2013-beautyred-carpet-met-gala-2013-minkakellyred-carpet-met-gala-2013-jennier-lawrence-beautyred-carpet-met-gala-2013-jennifer-lawrence"PUNK: Chaos To Couture" Costume Institute Gala"PUNK: Chaos To Couture" Costume Institute Gala"PUNK: Chaos To Couture" Costume Institute Gala"PUNK: Chaos To Couture" Costume Institute Galared-carpet-met-gala-2013-emily-blunt"PUNK: Chaos To Couture" Costume Institute Galared-carpet-met-gala-2013-jennifer-morrisonUS-FASHION-MET-COSTUME-GALAred-carpet-met-gala-2013-kirsten-dunstred-carpet-met-gala-2013-taylor-swiftOK Dresses – 2013 MET GALA 2013 Red Carpet

These ones I basically just liked. Was not impressed but cannot hold them for bad either. Well maybe except for Katie Holmes side boob situation. Ha! Joking. I loved the dress, but the side boob thing was not very posh. Emma Roberts dress was kinda great, but not best worthy, and Gisele Bundchen… mini dress? Really? We know you got a knock out body but could you please do that red dress look from the past Met Galas one more time? Just saying. Then there’s the cut out trend that Nicky Minaj is doing. And you know what? It’s not that bad. Oh, and Solange Knowles is confused yet again over what she should wear: shorts, dress, long, short? So she (again) did them all in one. red-carpet-met-gala-2013-katie-holmesred-carpet-met-gala-2013-emma-robertsGisele-Bundchen-red-carpet-met-gala-2013red-carpet-met-gala-2013-gisele-bundchenred-carpet-met-gala-2013-kylie-minogueUS-FASHION-MET-COSTUME-GALA"PUNK: Chaos To Couture" Costume Institute GalaStill Debating Dresses – 2013 MET GALA 2013 Red Carpet

And the winner of making us a tad confused and still debating over the dress, goes to… (drums please): Beyonce in her Givenchy dress. She was edgy and opulent all right, but I really don’t know if I like it or not. She’s wearing that type of dress that just makes you feel borderline crazy, one minute I hate it and one minute I’m totally digging it. Not too sure about the hair maybe (too wild and busy at the top) and the gloves. I mean I get the boots add that glam punk razzmatazz but the gloves just kill the whole idea by crowding it. What do you think? red-carpet-met-gala-2013-beyonceBeyonceThen there’s Anne Hathaway‘s look. Wait. Is that her or Miley Cyrus? I swear that’s what I was like at first glimpse. And then I saw the boobs. Girl have you been doing some pumping? I get the same mood from her dress as from Beyonce’s… and now I’m in the I love it stage. So why not? The Miley hair? I love. And speaking of Miley… what do you think? Too much, trying too hard or just the right age and edginess in that Marc Jacobs dress? I kinda like it… Let’s see the others too and comment away.  anne-hathaway-bleach-blonde-hairred-carpet-met-gala-2013-anne-hathawayred-carpet-met-gala-2013-miley-cyrus-beauty-look"PUNK: Chaos To Couture" Costume Institute Galadonatella-versace-red-carpet-met-gala-2013julianne-hough-red-carpet-met-gala-2013"PUNK: Chaos To Couture" Costume Institute Galared-carpet-met-gala-2013-emma-watsonred-carpet-met-gala-2013-katy-perryred-carpet-met-gala-2013-kristen-stewartred-carpet-met-gala-2013-uma-thurmanWorst Dresses – 2013 MET GALA Red Carpet

I’ll be honest with you on this one… I can hardly contain my laughter. Well OK smirk. Anna Wintour managed to not pull it off this time.  Karma? Is that you? She probably thought she’ll do the table cloth look this year and fooled Kim Kardashian into doing the sofa look so they’d both look like psychedelic besties on a night out. I actually feel sorry for Kim, just because the press will not give her a tiny break on this one. red-carpet-met-gala-2013-anna-wintourred-carpet-met-gala-2013-kim-kardashian-kanye-westTwo ladies – Kate Beckinsdale & Cristina Ricci – tried doing the punk prom dress thing, but it looked a bit off key with the whole red carpet thing and age maybe. Don’t get me started on Gwyneth Paltrow though… really Gwyn? Throw-up pink is your new thing?  I know pink is pretty punk in that decadent sort of way but that look and that shade on her are just wrong. red-carpet-met-gala-2013-kate-beckinsale"PUNK: Chaos To Couture" Costume Institute Galared-carpet-met-gala-2013-gwyneth-paltrowchloe-sevigny-in-proenza-schouler-red-carpet-met-gala-2013WTF Dresses – 2013 MET GALA Red Carpet

And then there were those dresses that go beyond bad while making you do the double stare. One of the Olsens leads the way. Well that’s a big shocker (not). Then comes the matronly Ashley Greene who came dressed as a posh square, and Elle Fanning… WTF is that Elle? No. You will not get the age excuse on this one. And last (yeah I get embarrassed for her just by looking at it) is Cameron Diaz who did a Stella McCartney all-the-way on this one. The dress is great… but what the fuck is up with that hair color and beauty look. It’s absolutely sick. Is that cheap blonde look on purpose or what? I don’t get it.  "PUNK: Chaos To Couture" Costume Institute Galaashley-greene-red-carpet-met-gala-2013red-carpet-met-gala-2013elle-fanningred-carpet-met-gala-2013-Cameron-DiazAnyway… this was fun. Who was your fave or least fave?

5871-anne-hathawayPromise this is the last red carpet post for a long time now. Not that I hate them or anything (I loved covering the Oscars 2013)… but enough already! The red carpet season may be a bliss for celebs & the entertainment business… but it’s time consuming, and at the end of the day it’s pretty much been there done that. Or at least it starts to feel that way. Anyway… as I said in my yesterday’s post (click here for more) the 2013 Oscars Red Carpet was by far the best ever! If I were to label it (though I HATE labeling) I’d say it was all about Understated Glamour & Elegance. sandra-bullock-oscars-2013-hair-pieceBiggest Red Carpet Trend at the 2013 Oscars? Well… that’s easy (apart from Anne Hathaway’s nipple spectacle lol) – The Backwards Necklaces! The 2 winner ladies of the night Jennifer Lawrence & Anne Hathaway used the neck jewelries to embellish their back. So I guess it’s fine for us ladies to start treating everyone else form now own with our backs. Actually with our bejeweled backs. Nicole Kidman did it in a Chanel add, but it seems to not have caught up at all, so instead a few years later these 2 talented beauties or their stylists gave it a second shot. And it was a winner this time. It’s classy yet different and I love it. Is it YES or No to the backwards necklace trend? US-OSCARS-ARRIVALS85th Annual Academy Awards - ArrivalsWe’ve all seen the main theme of the 2013 Oscars – Old Hollywood Musical & Style, yet do not think for a minute it resumed to the actual ceremony. The Red Carpet was invaded with stars channeling their glamorous simple personas. So the makeup was natural: dark eyelashes, hint of blush, eye-shadow & glitter to a minimum and a bit of lipstick, that seemed to have been used as a color accessory rather than makeup attire. Best example? Jessica Chastain. Not only did she have one of the best dresses but the hair & makeup (Jessica Rabbit style) were pure perfection. Natural side parted waves, red lips for pop of color and simple seductive eyes. Charlize Theron, Amy Adams, Jennifer Lawrence, Anne Hathaway, Nicole Kidman (well, basically all except for Salma Hayek & Maria Menounos, both overdoing it a bit) opted for the same natural glow.

Well, not really. The rest focused on earrings. One one hand there was The Statement Earrings Trend embraced by stars like: Catherine Zeta Jones, Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Rowland, Zoey Saldana, Miranda Kerr at the afterparty, Nicole Kidman, Halle Berry. They all wore long, colored, sparkling, chandelier earrings…

Brilliant! Fantastic! Loved them! Jennifer Lawrence’s set was my favorite by far. Charlize Theron‘s simple diamond studs were the definition of understated glamour and elegance. Same goes for Naomi Watts & Amy Adams (diamond drops) or for Amanda Seyfried interesting sparkling earrings.

Love the diamond drop earrings (yes JLaw’s are definititely ones to ”steal”) and why not come clean… I actually really really like the Backwards Necklace! My question is… what will you be stealing? :) xoxo
