What Trends To Steal From The Oscars?
Promise this is the last red carpet post for a long time now. Not that I hate them or anything (I loved covering the Oscars 2013)… but enough already! The red carpet season may be a bliss for celebs & the entertainment business… but it’s time consuming, and at the end of the day it’s pretty much been there done that. Or at least it starts to feel that way. Anyway… as I said in my yesterday’s post (click here for more) the 2013 Oscars Red Carpet was by far the best ever! If I were to label it (though I HATE labeling) I’d say it was all about Understated Glamour & Elegance.
Biggest Red Carpet Trend at the 2013 Oscars? Well… that’s easy (apart from Anne Hathaway’s nipple spectacle lol) – The Backwards Necklaces! The 2 winner ladies of the night Jennifer Lawrence & Anne Hathaway used the neck jewelries to embellish their back. So I guess it’s fine for us ladies to start treating everyone else form now own with our backs. Actually with our bejeweled backs. Nicole Kidman did it in a Chanel add, but it seems to not have caught up at all, so instead a few years later these 2 talented beauties or their stylists gave it a second shot. And it was a winner this time. It’s classy yet different and I love it. Is it YES or No to the backwards necklace trend?
We’ve all seen the main theme of the 2013 Oscars – Old Hollywood Musical & Style, yet do not think for a minute it resumed to the actual ceremony. The Red Carpet was invaded with stars channeling their glamorous simple personas. So the makeup was natural: dark eyelashes, hint of blush, eye-shadow & glitter to a minimum and a bit of lipstick, that seemed to have been used as a color accessory rather than makeup attire. Best example? Jessica Chastain. Not only did she have one of the best dresses but the hair & makeup (Jessica Rabbit style) were pure perfection. Natural side parted waves, red lips for pop of color and simple seductive eyes. Charlize Theron, Amy Adams, Jennifer Lawrence, Anne Hathaway, Nicole Kidman (well, basically all except for Salma Hayek & Maria Menounos, both overdoing it a bit) opted for the same natural glow.
If some wore the necklaces backwards you might be tempted to assume that the rest wore them normally. Well, not really. The rest focused on earrings. One one hand there was The Statement Earrings Trend embraced by stars like: Catherine Zeta Jones, Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Rowland, Zoey Saldana, Miranda Kerr at the afterparty, Nicole Kidman, Halle Berry. They all wore long, colored, sparkling, chandelier earrings…
Statement Earrings @2013 Oscars On the other hand, still as an Earring Trend there were the Diamond Studs & Drops. Brilliant! Fantastic! Loved them! Jennifer Lawrence’s set was my favorite by far. Charlize Theron‘s simple diamond studs were the definition of understated glamour and elegance. Same goes for Naomi Watts & Amy Adams (diamond drops) or for Amanda Seyfried interesting sparkling earrings.
Stud & Drop Diamond Earrings So girls, seems like we’ve got plenty of stuff to steal for parties or events we might attend in the near future. Love the diamond drop earrings (yes JLaw’s are definititely ones to ”steal”) and why not come clean… I actually really really like the Backwards Necklace! My question is… what will you be stealing? :) xoxo
