Ladies 2012 is the year of The Pleated Skirts! Short, maxi, tea length, nude, colored, printed – with flats, boots or heels they make any woman look feminine & chic. Oh… and a bit retro. And we love it! Last autumn the designers’ collections had their share of pleats, and I thought what a cool trend for the cold days. Feminine and sexy in the middle of the cold blizzard. But the pleats were such a huge hit that the trend stuck with us throughout the four seasons and here we are in 2012 Summer still choosing the maxi or short pleated skirt for those hot days in the sun.
Silky & flowy, sweeping the floor or just hiding our bum the pleated skirt is turning into a wardrobe staple. Celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Ashley Tisdale, Rihanna, Diana Agron, Diane Kruger, Kate Bosworth rock this look on the red carpet or in every day life feeling feminine and sophisticated. Top designers like Prada, Gucci, Jason Wu, Jill Stuart, Nanette Lepore lure all of us women into the retro modern world of beauty and style – with the pleats.
All throughout this year the streets were packed with pleats. Women were exploring and taking this trend to the next level. Whoever said pleats are only appropriate for the 5 o’clock tea party was so wrong. Long or short the pleated skirts can be worn with heels, sneakers, boots. You name it. For chilly days add a jumper, scarf, thick coloured tights & jacket while keeping the skirt silky and summery. Be adventurous and mix & match all textures, styles and items into anything you feel. Throw in a vibrant nail polish, chunky jewellery and sunglasses for a rich sophisticated look.
I love to pair the pleated maxi, knee & over the knee length skirt with a belt, , leather jacket, T-shirt, jumper & funky shoes! Here are some of my favourite street & runway looks and celebs rocking this trend!

gon try this
The worst part about this whole thing are people trying to imitate celebs and be something they are not. What ever happened to being an individual and designing your own style. Seriously. As a guy I am not at all attracted to any woman who follows trends she sees on TV as it means that person has been stripped of their personality and cannot think for themselves beyond what people on TV dictate to them.
i’m not confident enough to wear skirts. I don’t know why! But looking at these photos make me want to buy at least one.
I never used to like pleats, but now i love them, ever since last autumn! so yeah… tastes change. I guess we just need to be opened about exploring all fashion trends! thanks for stopping by:) Take care xx
