Leather Takes Over Autumn Winter 2012-2013! S&M Trend?
Have we all gone mad with the Fifty Shades Of Grey bestseller? Or do designers long for those grunge looks of the past? Whatever the case one thing is certain. In 2012-2013 Autumn & Winter we are all plunging into a Gothic glamour and elegance and giving in to obsessive looks of Bad Girls. Collections from the most classic designers took this S&M road, with leather trousers, jackets, straps, belts, gloves. But to make it more actual and fun we’re not just sticking to the all time black. No ladies, it’s colored leather all the way, from the deepest to the most electric tones of red, orange, calm nudes, greens or purples. If you fancy the retro look – DSquared nailed their 2012-2013 Fall/Winter collection with amazing colorful looks that make eyes pop.
All silhouettes are a bit more oversized and if one might think that baggy leather trousers are a No No, well think again. When the fashion press slammed down Kim Kardashian for wearing those super baggy black leather trousers, they should have known better, right?
From the classic Valentino to the edgy & punk’ish Jean Paul Gaultier all the designers have a little leather something for us. Givenchy‘s collection for Fall Winter 2012-2013 was absolutely stunning. Then there were the glamorous Gucci, Loewe, Fendi with pieces that had the semi-bondage vibe written all over it. But in a more fun colorful palette and experimentation. Why stick to the classic leather trousers or jacket, which by now is a staple in most wardrobes? Go for full skirts, coats, tops, gloves, big belts, hats, suits, dresses. And if black may be a little to harsh for you… explore all colors. Red is intense and nudes give an understated elegance.
It’s sophistication all the way. And the common people know it best, as we didn’t have to wait for Blake Lively to don her amazing orange leather dress on the red carpet, nor for the other VIPs who strut their strut in leather pieces all the time! No way! The streets never gave up on this trend. From the leather jackets to the skirts and tops, fashion capitals all over the world are packed with women feeling empowered and sexy in leather. Glossy or matte, rich or grunge, black or nude, neon or deep, tight or oversized – leather pieces are here to stay and make us all look like nonchalant bad-ass rock-stars!
Paired with knits, jeans or business-like attire any leather piece can pull it through at any given time of the day or night. Being a leather junkie I feel blessed with this new craze in town, and will experiment with all the styles this trend can carry!
