Headpieces Trend Alert For 2012 – 2013 Autumn/Winter! Would You Wear Them?

If you’re going to San Francisco / Make sure to wear some flowers in your head” – well… this season you can go anywhere and wear anything in your head.  The bejeweled heads are taking over everywhere, from Fashion Weeks to parties, to school, to dates or even work. Whether it’s too much or just fun you gotta give this trend what it deserves: it looks fabulous! OK so it may be too over the top for some of us, at least to don in bright daylight (I’d probably feel as if everyone was staring and laughing their butts off) but headpieces come in tens of styles and designs as to fit and accessorize any and every occasion and look: jewelry, crystal, beads hairpieces, flower hairbands, textured, butterflies etc.

And as the rule has it, there’s always someone to blame for this fashion craze. My finger glamorously points to the beautiful Nicole Richie who, bless her heart, has tried to resuscitate this style from the 1970’s for quite sometime. Yay… you finally did it Nicole! I mean with her always trendy looks and style icon label it was a matter of time before this trend settled in. Never one to shy away from fashion experimentation Nicole has said that everyone should try wearing headpieces, proving they not only look amazing, but give edge & coolness to a look. With jeans, loose patterned coloured tops and beach waves hairstyle – a headpiece puts the bohemian feel into an outfit. A sultry glamorous sparkling look & sexy stilettos can be complimented bystatement jeweled headpiece over a pulled back sleek hairdo. Headpieces made out of crystals, gold, beads, or any chic jewellery and embellishments look amazing with silk blouses and trousers or jeans, or with cutoff denims, tights, jumpers or blazers. It can add a bit of naughty school-girl touch to any look, or a bit of sophistication and glam to a casual street style outfit. For all you adventurous ladies, a headpiece can put some razzmatazz into any look and you can rock your way through the town’s busy crowd in style. Just think of it as the cherry on top of any style or outfit you choose: coat & boots for winter; dress and heels for evening; shorts and T-shirt for casual. The sky’s the limit. Remember Blair Waldorf in Gossip Girl? She made all her fren-enemies steal her cute, sweet & naughty headbands style. And before we knew it, every posh 20 year old girl was a Gossip Girl in headbands or hairpieces that adorned her head in any occasion or season. Oh and let’s not forget the nostalgic Americana Dream girlLana Del Rey. She sure brought back those hipster romantic flower headpieces, and not too long ago we’ve spotted Alexa Chung & Pixie Lot rocking them at carpet events.

For 2012-2013 Autumn/Winter designers didn’t shy away from the heavy adorned heads trend and what better and more glamorous example could we ask for than Dolce & Gabbana? With Alta Moda collection the extremely talented Italians are telling us to go wild on accessories and decorate our heads with the most exquisite headbands & pieces, while keeping on the huge earrings and heavily embroidered textures and seductive clothes. It’s a heaven of too much, only that it looks ravishing and fabulous. And if the catwalks are doing it than what the hell! It means we got a free pass to extravagances and style statements. Though it has been around for a while now… the headpieces trend stays, and though it may not always be in the very spotlight, it’s right there next to all the big trends putting the exclamation point in any look. Too much? Too fun or too childish? Hmmm… a lot could be said, but the truth is that flower headbands & jewelry headpieces look fantastic. The question is would you wear them? And which ones are your style?
