2024 Skirts Trend: Are MAXI SKIRTS the new pants?

Talk about the 90’s still having their moment in fashion… If summer 2024 taught us anything it’s that choosing classic over trendy and 90’s inspired over anything else is a win win situation. Mixing these 2 tips gives us a few must-have and equally nailed looks in fashion at the moment: the maxi skirt, the leopard print (pants), the low waist, all white outfits, summer classics, old money styles…

So yes the skirt is back in fashion as a hit IT piece to have and wear no matter your style or occasion. There’s about a million options to choose from and I guess it’s a going back to our feminine era type of situation mixed with an effortless, 90’s inspired style that everyone seems to want to copy these days.

What skirts do we wear in 2024?

The star of the season is the maxi skirt, the long column one, with a low or medium waist, in silk or crochet. Sure there’s about a thousand other versions of this style, everything works, and everything looks amazing if you ask me. It truly is sending me back to my 90s era when I had a cargo type of a maxi skirt that hung so low on my hips I adored it. Can’t believe 20 years ahead I’m still considering this trend execute this time I’m wearing more luxe versions of the same style: silk, linen, crochet.

The mid skirt in either A line, or pleated is another great option to wear. Again it has so many style, cuts, colours and prints that you can pick one to go from office to the beach if you want.

Then there’s the maxi flowy skirt, which I’m currently obsessed with, though I’ve never worn one in my life, but it’s giving summer-cowboy-latina-sexy-effortless-vibes and I wanna give it a try.

How to style the skirt in 2024?

Mules, sandals, flats, kitten heels are all very trendy yet classy options. Sneakers are losing ground and so are high heels when styling the skirt, YET I think once fall season comes we’ll see a lot of these skirts worn with high heel boots.

Top wise – simple classic tank tops and corsets are having their moment right now.

Classic button downs or off the shoulder summer tops can also look great with a skirt.

For chilly days choose an oversized blazer on top.
