Trend report: 7 ways to wear SILK SCARVES in 2025 summer

how to wear silk scarves

It’s been a while since a fashion accessory made a huge statement let alone became a trend on its own. In full summer season mind you when the fashion scene is packed with the bestest bits of style and 1 million things to chose from. Well in this sea of styles SILK SCARVES have made the trend cut. All of a sudden every girl is obsessed with owning 234 scarves and tying them for wear in just about 345 ways: on your head, wrists, waists, bags, necks… I mean they are everywhere. And the best thing is they truly add fashion character to an otherwise basic (not bad) or boring outfit.

There’s only two downsides to it all…

(1) they must be pretty so make sure you choose a nice print and colour silk scarf otherwise I think the most coveted style will turn into some dated dusty old sartorial gimmick.

and

(2) the actual tying and styling of the scarf – I’m afraid to say: you either have it or you don’t. Just like style. You must know what you are doing with it, you must be a natural otherwise it will all look too styled, too studied, and prepped, which is the exact opposite of the effortlessness and chicness of this accessory trend and the way girls are wearing it this summer.

So… that’s a bummer for some people, myself included I think… I have only worn a silk scarf maybe 3 times in my life so my practice with them is nonexistent which I guess makes me the worst candidate for trying out this style, YET I shall not surrender to fashion ignorance and I will give this silk scarf trend a try, or more, until I may get the hang of it. Who knows.

I do adore the looks and aesthetic silk scarves create in 2025 summer. It’s very chic and feminine in both a grownup as well as girly kind of way. Weirdly.

How do we wear silk scarves in 2025 summer?

  1. The retro tie, under the chin.

Yes my grandma used to wear her scarf like this but so does Kendall Jenner so there you have it… It’s all about the IT style factor. Grandma had it for those times I’m sure, and girls these days… man they are wizards of fashion. The chicness of wearing a headscarf in such an old and retro way of course, takes balls and tons of in-born good aesthetics. The utility of it is to keep your hair in place while in a convertible or on a bike… but nobody wears an accessory for utility so… we wear head scarves in a retro way by pairing it with big earrings, bold lips, cool eyewear, leather jackets, blazers or dresses. It’s a more sophisticated and elegant look.

Season wise this goes in summer and autumn too… and my take on it is a big YES especially for colder days.

      2. The chic head scarf

I call it the French head scarf tie,  it’s been all over the runways staring with Prada. It’s a less invasive look. There scarf is in a triangle and tied at the back, simple, peasant, chic. Mixed with clashing accessories or outfits it can look very sophisticated. Or you can keep it simple, minimalist and wear it with a simple linen dress and flip flops. Bermuda shorts and skirts also complete such a look. It’s a more summer’ish style. Laid back meets peasant but equally old money a la Provence.

3. The cool head scarf

This one is more boho meets rocknroll, urban, cool, and looks great with the same style as the above scarves. I give it a big YES. It’a a look done right by those very trendy and cool girls living in the city and going to all sorts of events, festivals, places… fearless and effortless, but curated nonetheless.

4. The wear-it-like-a-top scarf

You take a massive silk scarf and tie it around yourself in just about any way you like it. There’re so many tutorials on this style trick it’s crazy… My personal take on this is ‘Why?’ For the love of God I don’t understand why you’d wear your scarf as a top… Cause the print is nicer? Why not wear a normal top and then the scarf else-wear… Really I’m a square head on this, but I’ll be honest: who nails this trick looks FAB! And also don’t take my NO on this style as a reference cause I might be wearing NO next week. Who tf knows… It’s fashion and I like it.

5. The wrist scarf

Easy peasy. It’s another trick that leaves me pretty indifferent for some reason. I have no opinion on this style. I. Just. Don’t. Get. It. Plus it’s very 2010.

6. The waist scarf

Now this is something I’m seeing a LOT of lately and I’m wondering why? Again. Please enlighten me.

It adds volume where we don’t want volume, it looks crazy… I am waiting for some very strong Evrika fashion moment to strike me anytime on this one.

7. The neck scarf.

It used to called the flight attendant look and I kinda like it. It looks cute, preppy, chic, girly, and ads a bit of style to an otherwise simple outfit.

I might have been style resistant to a few of these… but I gotta give it to fashion: it did its thing and created a buzz around a very classy and timeless accessory. And I salute that in every way.
