Major Crush: LONG SLEEVE Dresses & Why They’re The Best?
If I look outside my window right now I’d say it was fucking November, however if I look inside myself it’s so sunny, and warm, and happy I’d say it’s bloody July. Ugh… how cheesy. I too just threw up in my mouth right now.
Be that as it may, I’m still a ray of fucking sunshine y’all and THAT is the problem. I feel like a unicorn drunk on candy, and happiness, and flowers, and sun, and all the pretty bullshit out there (and a bit of Jack on the side, why not?!), but everything around me (aka the weather) is so gloomy you’d say it’s depressed beyond saving. So I’m left in a haze and sartorial dilemma.
Should I wear summer like my heart says, or should I do autumn like Mother Nature suggests?
Or better yet, is there something that screams both sans being gloomy, but not too happy-hot-weather-in-your-face either? You know, like a sartorial compromise that feels like a blessing?
I know, I know. A leather jacket with a glass of wine? No. Okay, a… trench coat with a shot of whiskey? No. A chunky sweater with shorts and a fucking bottle of champagne, okay? No. And what is it with you and the drinks?
(the chats in my mind btw)
People. My dear beautiful, gorgeous, sexy beasts I am of course talking about LONG SLEEVE DRESSES.
Now y’all don’t gotta act so disappointed, you just gotta think about it. It’s the best love affair in the world. It really satisfies every involved party, it’s a win-win situation for everyone, it looks amazing, it feels insanely gorgeous and it has so many faces and looks to it it can be and please whichever persona you wanna un-cage one day.
Long sleeve dresses have become somewhat of an obsession and crush pour moi for the past year or so. They really embody everything that’s effortless but also sexy and also professional and also chic or sophisticated or casual in a trend. They are the epitome of everything that stylists keep going on about: do something comfy but make sure it’s sophisticated. Wear something that says you barely bothered but that might also land you on the Sartorialist’s Instagram you know. That sort of ‘compromise’.
Well ladies, this is it.
It’s all the above, and the brilliance is it can be so much more. With the midi dresses on the rise and their big refusal to go anywhere, long sleeves are backing up this trend too. Those casual-chic midi dresses with long sleeves are everywhere these days, from weekends to office wear, from posh to super cool and laid back outfits.
Then there’s the maxi dress, which is kinda losing ground, but if you give it long dramatic sleeves, well… who’s the queen of street style then huh? Think flowy chiffon fabric and if the weather’s too cold, add a jacket over it. Brilliant.
And then there’s the midi length A-line, flowy, printed long sleeve dress aka 70s Goddess dress. Shut the front door.
And last but not least the mini dress with long sleeves. It’s so perfect I’m surprised it’s not a going-out uniform. Oh wait.
That’s my stand on long sleeve dresses and I’m sticking with it. My fave picks for you below.

Long sleeve dresses scream summer with a dash of drama, a bit of 70s, a bit of va-va-voom, a bit of relaxed and laid back woman, but they can go for miles and miles of trends and looks and moods. I adore long sleeve dresses.
And now it’s your turn.
Have a fab weekend! xoxo
