Once the cold season is settled in there’s a fashion invasion of… shorts! Yes you read that right. Us girls are hopelessly in love with one of the most common, urban, trendy, cool and comfy looks – Cutoffs & Black Tights!

London is obsessed with this trend and it’s a matter of time until most European cities are packed with rebel looking girls that refuse to ditch their summer attire, because instead found an uber chic way of rocking denim shorts in blizzard cold.

Cutoffs & tights are the fashion must have of 2013 winter.

How & where to wear the rock/punk look is but a matter of taste and of feeling somewhat fashion adventurous. From a lazy walk on Sundays, to having drinks with your friends, to work (if permitted of course) to dates, to parties, shopping, traveling etc… cutoffs & tights are easily adaptable and can be dressed up & down for the occasion.

A better question might have been where not to wear denim cutoffs? So once the sun waves us farewell ladies, hold on to your cutoffs and while you’re at it, throw in a pair of black tights (matte or sheer), boots (heeled or not), tennis shoes, blouses, cardigans, jumpers, sweaters, T-shirts, jackets, parkas, coats, blazers. They go with everything and depending on the look you’re going for you can experiment and play around a lot with layers, colors & accessories.

For a girly look opt for sexy heels (keep them thick for day wear), a silky top or T-shirt and a leather jacket or blazer. Replace the jacket for a coat in winter and don’t forget your black tights, a scarf and a cool bag. If you’re aiming for you’re rock-star persona to shine through go for studded ripped cutoffs and keep the rest black for a glam grunge vibe. For a rich look wear stylish accessories, and invest in a great bag.

And the best part about the cutoffs & tights trend?

You can make these shorts yourself! Sure you can buy from any high-street brand, brand new cutoffs that look worn out, ripped, used, washed out, but if you’re aiming for a more personal touch, or just don’t want to part from your favorite pair of jeans just yet, cut them into shorts! We’ve all done it and will keep on doing it every time that one pair of jeans just looks too good on our bum to part ways, right? Two Cutoffs & Tights Looks will always get you out of trouble.

The grunge edgy look: cutoffs, tights (mock suspender ones are really fantastic) boots and slouchy top. Loads of accessories, a very feminine bag and a coat or leather jacket over. Or on a softer note the rebel feminine look : cutoffs, ankle boots or ballet pumps, jumper/blouse/blazer. Are Cutoffs & Tights too grunge for you? Or are they your go to outfit once autumn is settled in?

It’s funny I’ve always liked this trend (not on everyone and it has to be done right) but I remember wearing similar things when I was in grade 9…. That pains me just a little…..
