2025 Fall Trend: SUEDE

It’s lush, it’s plush, retro, classic, sophisticated, easy to style and looks AMAZING in fall. Suede in 2025 is everything everybody who loves fashion wants to wear this season. The best part about suede as a trend in 2025 is that it comes on everything from bags to boots to loafers, jackets and coats, trousers and sets. Even skirts or dresses.

So what is it about this soft fabric that’s got all the fashion people going crazy in love in 2025 fall?

Somewhere between retro nostalgia, and lack of imagination, alongside a good soft classic fabric, that the suede basically is… lies the answer. Truth is – SUEDE is more a staple than a fabric but in a world of (re)cycling trends I’ll take what I can.

I have always LOVED suede, although in my commitment to not shop anymore I still haven’t bought any new side piece. Luckily I am so old that I actually own a few pieces from back in the day, and I happen to also love vintage shopping so there is a few bits I can wear to check this 2025 trend off the list so to speak.

But the question is – how do we wear suede in 2025 fall? And IF we wear it differently than the 70’s, or the 80’s or the grungy 90’s – do we actually need some IT pieces to nail today’s ‘trend’? And if so… what are those pieces?

Funny you should ask… cause the suede IT pieces of 2025 fall are:

the suede boots

The thing about all these is that while they all look amazing I cannot but be bugged by the fact that, due to instagram outfit reels it feels like everyone looks the same. It’s a fall uniform (a gorgeous one yes, but a uniform nonetheless) in suede that aligns those who wear it to a certain aesthetic, type of fashion purchases, generic style over personal style.

But that’s what a trend is right?

It depends whether or not the trend is a coveted look OR if it’s piece.

In suede’s case I think it’s both. Frankly as someone who’s been writing about fashion for a long time I would like trends to be more of items done in a billion fantastic original personal ways rather than the other way around… but it is what it is.

So yes everything in suede is in, but some pieces are key in fall 2025, and the look is relaxed, slightly oversized, baggy pants, flats, or kitten heels, dark muted colours, camel, browns, mixed with knits.

There’s 2 sides of the ‘suede look’:

(1) either refined elegance, when a suede jacket or trench coat is mixed with heel boots, knits and silk fabrics, a trouser set, or a polished skirt.

(2) OR it can me a more relaxed sophisticated look in baggy style jeans, loafers, a men inspired 90’s jacket in suede, mixed with a chunky sweater underneath or an all denim look. The latter style is more reminiscent of cowboy meets 90’s grungy cool person, meets 70s boho queen. Somewhere in between lies the sophistication of fall 2025.

Whatever you do this fall, whether or not you buy or you bought that suede Zara jacket (which I adore for what it looks like but hate for what it stands for)… wear the suede and I dare you to do it with a dash of boldness or cheekiness that should come from originality rather than the coveted styles on instagram.

I hate to be a style BITCH but tbh deep down inside I’m equality happy about it.
