How does one nail the continuous navigation between style and comfort every morning from march till june? Well with the sartorial aid of spring jackets o course! And the amazing, beautiful, stylish spring jackets of 2026 do not disappoint.
2026 Spring Jackets: What to buy and what ro wear?
It feels like ages (perhaps 3 seasons) since I’ve bought a proper (read trendy) spring jacket, so at this point I am living in last season’s hits, some staples, some dated looks, and I am very keen on keeping them all because 1) fashion comes back and 2) I’m set on making them all work because I haven’t worn them properly and cause I’m always up for a style challenge.
Plus I secretly wanna become fashion viral on Instagram and I always think if I posted more outfits and clothes I might… so with this wish in mind I have slowly become a hoarder.
So which are the hottest jackets of spring 2026? What should we buy and how should we wear them?
1.Cinged waist
With the 80’s influence on fashion still going on pretty strong there is no wonder that the cinged waist and exaggerated silhouette is still such a strong statement look for spring 2026. Whether it’s cinged with a belt or just part of the jacket’s cut the very tiny waist design is a very feminine take on the otherwise more architectural, and masculine, or slouchy silhouettes that have dominated the runways and even high street retails for a while now.
Cinged waists look more modern but they still hold onto the retro of of 80s and even 50’s. If you wear it with something fitted from head to toe, such as leggings and fitted top kinda-outfit and boots it will look retro for sure. Be careful cause as hot and modern as this outfit might seem you have to nail the details so good and in such a casual and effortless way that it looks more laid back rather than polished. To avoid looking tacky.
BUT a cinged jacket paired with jeans (loose, boot cut, flared, wide legged) is a great look. An office dress or dressy pants look great with it as well.
2. Leather jackets
Leather jackets of all colours are having a comeback, especially in brown, worn out leather, waist length, very grungy 90s inspired, also 80’s silhouettes are in for leather jackets. Think solid pieces, slightly oversized, but with a very classic good old cut, not the flimsy tiny circa 2006 styles.
As per the novelty of this staple – 2026 gives us the funnel neck in all jackets almost, hence the leather jacket too.
On how to style them it’s easy but the 2026 consensus is minimalist with a touch of polished grunge. Denim, white top and leather jacket, or all black, or monochromatic layered with a leather jacket.
3. The barn jacket
This has been around for a year or so, and while it’s not the star of this spring it still holds a little bit of space in the 2026 spring trends area.
It gives a more masculine touch to usually a very basic but otherwise cool outfit, it takes the edge off a trendy outfit by toning it down in a very 90s effortless way. The barn jacket can look either worn out but also very clean, architectural even, when paired with structured pieces, and it’s also a very great add on for office attire. It looks clean, fits free and due to its fashion ubiquity at the moment – it’s trendy too, especially for sartorial connoisseurs.
4. The bomber jacket.
When Balmain and Versace sent bomber jackets down the runway for SS 2026 a piece of me died of cringe thinking how their younger version circa 2016 was back. Well they are back, the cut, the shape, the name but it’s so beautifully re-designed and reinvented that I think it could be a SS 2026 fave. Today’s bomber jacket gives off a rich vibe off carelessness and off duty luxe style, whether mixed with a polished outfit (dressy pants or skirts) OR leggings and sporty attire.
It’s very updated and accessorised with zippers and pockets and the funnel neck – so it’s more maximalist and sophisticated.
5. The cropped trench coat
It took a while for me personally to give this jacket even a slight thought, let alone buy one and wear it. BUT as Alexa Chung used to say “never say never in fashion, cause you’ll be wearing never in 5 years time”. It took me less than 5 years, but I like it. It’s a neutral, a basic that mixes so well into any closet, and it’s lightweight.
Designers are playing fun with accessorising it as well: cuffs, zippers, pockets, belts… making this basic classic piece into something else. Something more modern with a touch of 80’s structure.
6.The suede jacket
Forever a classic and always so sophisticated suede is the one fabric that can go in spring with no fear of ruin. Anything from floor length, to cropped, from funnel necks to collars, from belted cinged waists to oversized looks, blazers, trench coats, jackets – everything is in and the style goes either rich office sophisticated OR bohemian laid back.
For the first time in ages I am really happy and excited at the prospects or a chilly slightly warm spring, instead of jumping straight into summer. And I credit that too the beautiful jackets of spring 2026!
