How To Nail It This Spring? Best Nail Trends For The Hot Season!
As we leave behind all the red carpet season with its repetitive blog posts and take a tiny break from fashion week, I’m so excited to write and share with you this post on 2013 Spring Trends! OK, so Spring might not be here yet (got my cold to remind me), but who says we can’t begin to look into and start doing a bit of Spring in the cold season? Especially that March is literally just around the corner! We might still have to stick to thick fabrics, coats, beanies, scarves, boots… but we can, nonetheless add some spring’ish feel to our boring outfits, and I know just the right & safe way to do this: Nails! 2013 Spring Nails Trend is all about having fun. According to designers the hot season is set on 2 extremes, nail wise: Dark & Black Nails on one hand and Nude Light Nails on the other. Somewhere in between, for the more adventurous, edgy ones, there are the: Metallic Nails, Print & Graphic Nails and Two Toned Nails. In the past year, nails have gained quite a lot of territory in fashion and style and I think they are the New It Accessory, just because of the infinite ways you can play around with colors, prints, textures, shapes… and add a tiny detail to your look that will make all the difference. Celebs like Rihanna are a huge source of inspiration for long super trendy nails: graphic, bold prints or colored. While others like Kim Kardashian love the dark short nails. Regardless of your style and nail love, one thing is certain- 2013 Spring is focused on details. There’s just something so feminine and polished about a woman with a sleek manicure that it makes you jump right in the middle of this trend and get the best of it. OK, so we’re all guilty as charged of the chipped nail polish or not getting a proper manicure, but ladies it’s time to stop our ignorance! Polished great nails betray a sort of maintenance and how we take care of ourselves. I mean we don’t go around with our hair unwashed, do we? Neutral nails are perfect for a feminine look, they go with anything, they’re simple, elegant and timeless. Dark nails are more posh, trendy and quite versatile. For a grunge look wear them with rock inspired outfits, and for a more polished classy styles wear them with super luxurious feminine clothes. What’s your favorite style? Or your go-to nail polish color? Nude Light Nails: feminine, simple, go with everything. Lots of designers opted for this look in their 2013/2014 Spring collections: Dolce & Gabbana, Marc Jacobs, Chanel, Gucci etc.
Black Dark Nails: classy, edgy, versatile, polished, luxurious, rich, grunge. Dark short nails are huge this season and we’ve seen it with Jason Wu, Rag & Bone, Vera Wang, Marchesa… Metallic Nails: metallic trend is quite big this year, but if wearing metal clothes is too much for you, then nail it! Though the trend is not metallic nails per se (just a hint of it actually) I say to hell with it. While you’re at it, go all the way and metal up your nails in silver, gold or both. Graphic & Printed Nails: they may not be a big trend this spring but I love them. Never quite wore them (not too late) but Spring is about having fun, exploring colors, prints & wild fun graphics. On nails? Yep… best and easiest statement. I agree it may be a bit too much for those of us who are no longer teens, or for the office, but we can still have fun with them in a more toned down style: delicate colors, keep it to one funky nail… Two Tone Nails: Big Big trend in 2013 Spring. It’s sort of a combination of the above in such a way that you get the style you want: edgy, funky, simple, feminine. Glaming up your nails and playing around with colors & prints is the easiest way to make a style statement: easy, subtle, yet making all the difference. This cold season I’ve wore my nails short and dark (switching to colors every now and then) but I’m thinking of exploring all the above and… trying out (again) one of the most timeless trends in nails ever: Red Long Oval Nails. I think they’re having a huge comeback, and it’s no surprise cause they’re classy, feminine and empowering. Plus they go with absolutely anything!
One more thing before I wrap this up… the shape of nails? Short, long, oval, square? Which ones do you think are the best? Also are you a fan of gels, acrylic or just nail polish? :) xoxo
