rihanna-cropped-top Seems like Rihanna’s constant tummy display finally paid off and kicked in into one of the biggest trends of 2013. Yes dolls we gotta start working out BIG TIME to show off our mid riffs this season. And no… it’s not because of Riri’s mid riff obsession, although I suppose as a style icon she’s got a little input in there, but the Cropped Tops fad is quite an eclectic mix of circumstances that have led to it becoming a huge trend: a ’90’s reiteration of the cropped top, a retro take on the look (think Dolce & Gabbana), a classic vibe to it (think CHANEL tweed and boucle cropped jackets), an urban-glam twist to it, celebrity inspiration, sporty-chic style. All these are in. And it’s safe to say that when it comes to your own style and take on this trend the sky is the limit, and that’s 2013’s biggest asset: freedom to experiment, to get creative, to mix and match all of it with just one rule in mind – feeling & looking good! So eff those fashion restrictions and give in to: DIY cropped tops projects, bustiers, cropped funky jackets, cropped shirts, cropped sweaters… you know the drill. cropped-tops-designers-2013 chanel-tweed-croppedjacket cropped-bustiers cropped-t-shirt-cut-offs When discussing the Cropped Tops Trend it’s crucial to stretch out the fact that all is in: from the basic tank tops & t-shirts, to the retro bustiers and the classic-with-a-twist cropped jackets that are a fashion blessing for this time of the year all the way into late autumn. Isn’t it great when fashion has that comfy utilitarian side to it as well? Though let’s be honest here, if it didn’t, would anyone give a crap? Yeah… I thought so too. There’s nothing like suffering for the sake of looking great. Aha! We’ve all got those feet blisters and would rather freeze to death than not don a cropped top when it’s so fashionably required. :) So let’s take sides here then! croppedtop-classic-edgy The Classic Cropped Look has got 2 major styles: The Cropped Jackets & The Cropped Sweaters. The trend comes in handy for the more office/work appropriate attire and can be stretched to pretty much any age (well at least the cropped jackets) as you can wear a longer shirt underneath it and play with shape and lengths, which will add quite a sophisticated note to the look. Besides the cropped jacket is pretty much a staple and works with ANYTHING: jeans, heels, boots, sandals, t-shirts, posh tops, clutches, bags, printed trousers, skirts, dresses, maxi & mini skirts… It looks chic, glam luxe and effortless. Which is what most of us are going for when dressing for work or important meetings. To get the classic take on cropped jackets have a look at Jennifer Lopez collection at Kohls (click here). Kohls-Jennifer Lopez-cropped-jacket Kohls-Jennifer-Lopez-cropped-top If you can’t yet part ways with your trench coat, denim or leather jacket, but you are dying to rock this trend ASAP… do not lose hope! Still how can you? Not with those crispy mornings you so hate. Stick to your longer jackets then and don a cool comfy and classic cropped sweater. YOON (click here for more) has got some amazing classic-meets-retro pieces that would look fantastic with high waisted skirts and trousers. And it would leave just a tiny bit of bare mid riff. Enough to get the look going. :) yoon-cropped-sweater yoon-cropped-top For some fashion inspiration check out these brilliant street style looks that I swear are just the right push we might need to get us started on this Cropped Jacket Trend. cropped-black-jacket Cropped-Boucle-Jacket cropped-jacket cropped-jacket-dress-look (2) cropped-jacket-dress-look cropped-jacket-street-style cropped-jacket-style cropped-jacket-trend leather-cropped-jacket street-style-cropped-jacket street-style-cropped-jacket-jeans-heels street-style-cropped-shirt streetstyle-cropped-top trend-cropped-top The Glam-Grunge Cropped Look is for those loving a bit of fashion edge (guilty as charged) & for those free weekends, for parties, for those days when you feel so fashion adventurous and want to break the style monotony. This is all about flipping the finger to fashion rules and giving in to the looking and feeling good temptations. Cropped tank-tops & t-shirts (that you might have chopped off yourself) are so rock’n roll with cut-offs, jeans and hot heels. Ah… think classic funky printed, crazy neon colored pumps! Statement necklaces or even better, body jewellery. That’s it! I’m hitting the shops this weekend! For laid back days don flat sandals, sneakers (you’ll be nailing the urban/sporty-chic style with these) and a sporty hat. For fashion inspo you do know who you have to check out, right? Rihanna. She’s the queen of urban-glam-boy-girl-posh-gangsta style. I know I’m bombarding you with her too often. Sorry. flower-print-style ‘If you’re going to San Francisco (read anywhere actually) be sure to wear some flowers”… on your clothes. In prints that is. YES the Floral Print Trend is back for 2013 Spring & Summer, but that is no big surprise, I really don’t think it was, or ever will be gone. As you can’t have fall without the dark hues and thick fabrics, you certainly can’t have a hot season without (1) Floral Prints, (2) Light & white colors and fabrics. What is different though in 2013 Spring is the retro feeling and Sicilian vibe I get from all those flower printed clothes & accessories. And that’s another great new thing, flowers are invading not just the same cliche items (tops and bottoms) but bags, shoes, headwraps, earrings, tiny fashion bits that you never even imagined could carry an array of nicely scented roses & buds. Ah… a very romantic, boho-chic & retro style. Think Dolce & Gabbana and that should sum it up. floral-print-dress To avoid any fashion predicament you might think you’re in, and the frenzy that comes with figuring out what type of flowers are in, or what size should they be, I say breathe. Let’s just enjoy fashion and have loads of fun with it. Sure nobody wants to don a, what they think is a cool floral vintage bag that actually looks dull and dated… but honestly who gives a damn about the strict fashion lines. I don’t even think we’re suppose to. Not unless we wish to be labeled as fashion victims. And at the end of the day fashion is about getting creative… But just to have an idea that you can put at the back of your mind for that ”just in case” moment, according to designers the Floral Prints this season are either super big and not crowded OR tiny and understated. Pick your type and roll with it, although… let’s get real here… if you love clashing floral prints and wearing a crowded garden on your outfit (I know I do), nothing wrong with it, right? floral-top floral-trend floral-print-trousers On what to wear those Florals this season? Floral Printed Trousers are huge. They’ve got that retro feeling to them of  that uber cool Americana look (think 1950’s women dancing on Lana del Rey songs). Colors: ice-cream shades, dusted little flowers or bright big roses are all in. For an understated very classy yet retro look Jennifer Lopez’s collection at Kohls has got some pretty impossible to resist pieces: tiny floral printed trousers, floral printed blouse & dress. Which brings me to the other items florals are landing on this spring, but not before I let you check out JLo’s clothes at Kohls. :)

pop-of-color-neon1 In all this sea of trends that just seem to invade all blogs, magazines and retail, today I felt like sharing with you a bit of my all time style or fashion obsessions: the pop of color in a somewhat boring or basic outfit. One of my friends has always told me I’ve literally got a fixation to just throw in any random hint of color every time I feel I look too proper or too boring: colored bag, shoes, bracelets, necklaces, lipstick (as of lately only), nails et all. Now that I think about it, I’ve kinda cooled down on this color pop thing, but I tell you I was obsessed with it. I’m far from what they call a trendsetter, but just this last Fashion Week the pop of color on catwalks was huge. So yeah, I guess it has all got to do a bit with trends. Though not for this season but for Fall 2013/2014. Anyway, finally the big fashion gurus have taken some notes from my part. Lol. color-pop-bags1 Picture an all black outfit, or a grey top and some jeans. Or a simple day dress. Don’t all these cute looks just scream color us please. Now that’s exactly what I thought. Splash a bit of red on your lips, a crazy nail art, some neon bag or shoes (just because neon is huge this season, click here for more) and you’ve completely changed the whole style. It’s fun. Besides, this season color is so rudely dismissed that if you just feel like slightly breaking a few rules, wearing a crazy hue will be enough of a fashion statement. 2013 Summer is all about black & white, and the 60s MOD fashion inspiration, which in itself may be about crazy prints and colors, but the shops, as far as I’ve seen last weekend are packed with this basic trend, that I can work with. But no colors, really? In summer? So let’s compromise a little bit, and to hell with the trends on this one: color pop is fun and adds just the right amount of razzmatazz to a look. color-pop-style2  Best colors to get a perfect effect or statement? I’ve always thought RED does it. It’s just powerful, goes with anything and looks fabulous on absolutely any outfit. Another hue might be the NEONS this season: green, yellow, pinks… So let’s see how it’s done and take a few inspiration cups from these street style photos. colored-shoes-street-style color-pop-skirt-street-style color-pop-street-style (2) color-pop-street-style (3) color-pop-street-style green-bag-color-pop neon-pink-clutch neon-pop-of-color orange-bag-style-color-pop orange-pop--of-color pink-blazer-color-pop-street-style pop-of-color-clutch pop-of-neon-street-style red-bag-color-pop red-clutch-color-pop-street-style red-coat-color-pop-streets-tyle red-color-pops red-hat-color-pop-steet-style red-heels-color-pop-street-style street-style-color-pop

girls-in-man-suit I have to say I think there’s just something so SEXY about a woman dressed in a man’s clothes, that it’s irresistible. The sex identity game behind it, the idea of her stealing her man’s fashion attire or simply a well mastered ‘can’t be bothered attitude‘ from her part, might make a girl appear sexier in a tuxedo than in an evening dress. Now all you girls who have never dressed in, or stole your BF’s clothes for a laid back afternoon, put your hands up. My point exactly. And since we’re all charged with the same crime, I have to ask: ‘‘What is it about dressing in a man’s clothes that we simply can’t say no to?” Could it be the feeling of empowerment? Masculine sexuality? Whatever the case… one thing is certain. You can put a woman in a cotton sack and she’ll pull it off brilliantly with hot heels on! Have you noticed that no matter what we choose to wear, if we have heels on we can make it look like a million bucks? Man trousers (which btw are really hard to pull off) slightly rolled up, man shirt (super loose) AND heels? AMAZING. Ballet pumps or sneakers? Errr… did anyone say homeless? So probably we’ve got the heels card to play, and the red lips, but honestly now… nothing beats confidence and cool sexy attitude. And a man’s suit can truly give you that. suit-style-fashion-street suit-look-streets-tyle Manning up fashion wise is slightly different than androgynous fashion. Or maybe it seems so to me. It’s not about channeling your inner masculinity, au contraire it’s playing up your powerful feminine side. You keep up the same girly attire: bold lips, makeup, heels, jewellery and basically just slip into a tailor made man suit. Sure you can don your man’s clothes per se… just look at Leandra from TMR. Dayum girl. She rocked that look way better than her husband. OR you can slip into an infinite number of man inspired suits/shirts/trousers that fit you like a glove. If the A-listers did it on the red carpet (Anne Hathaway presented the Oscars in a tuxedo, right?) I suppose it’s a confidence boost for us mortals :) And no. Let’s not give them the clap for originality. It’s been done before. Powerful women (read Catherine Deneuve, Marlene Dietrich) were famous for donning the dapper look. When it comes to uber hotness, class, sophistication & strength you can’t beat that. Though I have to say there’s one girl who for me… represents how we all feel and look (let me be oblivious to my looks please) when in a man’s tuxedo/suit: Jourdan Dunn. Have you seen her fashion editorial? OMG. jourdan-dunn-tuxedo catherine-deneuve-in-suit MarleneDietrich-man-suit YSL-Le-smoking-look Though I’m such a girly girl this man inspired style has really got to me, I mean since I started preparing thipost I keep dreaming of myself in a black tuxedo (think Sarah Jessica Parker in SATC or Emma Stone in a super gorgeous tuxedo she wore on Chelsea Lately). The tuxedo look may be a fantastic alternative to a cocktail dress for a posh event, but in everyday style if you want to jazz it up you can always choose a man inspired suit. Or a crispy shirt with a tie or bow-tie. The options are limitless: oversized, fitted, with or without a vest, classic British look (plaid, thick fabric), feminine twist (silky, white, bold colors), heels & lipstick (because by clashing the feminine with the masculine you get that pure sophistication). Ah… I am telling you, it’s a huge shock for me too, but I am loving this style. all-denim-look Back in the day draping yourself in denim was a fashion faux-pas, but as fashion is by definition a multitude of uncertainties (in a good way) and constant changes, today, Denim On Denim has turned into a massive trend. For the past two years I think this Duo Denim Trend is trying to make a way and settle in as that uber cool look any respectable fashionista can don without looking like a fashion victim. And since practice makes perfect, its hard work paid off, and Denim On Denim or Denim Head To Toe Trend are suppose to be huge in 2013 Spring and Summer. Not a new invention in the least, still feels good though to know it’s perfectly fine to keep on rocking the denim top with any type of bottoms, given they are denim too. What’s the catch? No catch. Though it used to be ”don’t do same color denim on denim” but eff that, you know. Don’t let anyone tell you to not wear something when it looks amazing and you’re just having fun with it. So how to wear denim on denim? However you like it, but just for the sake of the fashion game let’s play along :) all-denim-style Let the games begin! Colors: all is in. From the most dark wash to the most light, denim has never looked so cool and never been quite in the fashion spotlight as this season. I suppose since the hot season is right around the corner (yeah still waiting on that one) we’ve got tons of freedom color wise and light wash ripped denim jeans look fabulous with heels (for a fancy get-together) and with loafers or gladiator sandals for a casual comfy stroll. Dark wash denim may be just the right choice for a smarter look, a bit more classy and sophisticated. Think work. Tops vs Bottoms: jeans, shorts & skirts AND shirts, jackets or T-shirt (haven’t found any, but just think how cool they’d look… denim T-shirt) are all in.

Light Wash Denim denim-on-denim denim-trend street-stye-denim-on-denim Dark Wash Denim dark-wash-light-wash-denim denim-love trend-denim Denim on the catwalk in 2013 S/S collection (1st: Jean Paul Gaultier; 2nd: Miu Miu) jean-paul-gaultier-denim-ss-2013 miu-miu-denim What I love most about this year in terms of fashion is that, it seems to me that so many trends and styles are in, sort of like a clashing and a meeting of old VS new. For instance when talking DENIM as a 2013 Trend one might assume a certain type of cut, design and color are in, but no… it’s a heaven I tell you. So if shopping is not on your list, you can still look uber cool with what I’m sure you can find in your closet, from those 90’s. Yeah this too is a 90’s comeback, slightly more polished and girly but we’ve all done it back in the day. What’s it like today?

  • Denim jeans: skinny, bell bottom, flared, dark to super light wash, ripped or proper, high waisted or low waisted, boot cut, boyfriend jeans.
  • Denim shorts: cutoffs, dark to light wash, uber short or right above the knee, tight or large.
  • Denim tops: slouchy or tight shirt, light wash, dark wash, vintage inspired or posh, patched, tucked in or not, rolled up sleeves.
  • Denim skirts: pencil skirts, skater skirts, long skirts, ripped, light/dark wash et all.

Remember Rihanna’s outfit a few days ago? With nude pumps? I. Am. In. Love. With. This. Look. rihanna-denim-on-denim There’s just something so laid back, refreshing and yet vintage classy about the denim on denim look that I find it irresistible.  It’s sophisticated and chic, easily dressed up & down, and a pair of heels and some jewellery can do wonders to an all-denim outfit! It’s got that urban-boho woman vibe  meets geek-classy-sassy girl to it, and I love it!

t-shirt-blazer What’s that item that everyone’s got in their closet (tones of them actually) but which never makes the fashion cut as often as it should? Ding Ding! Yes you guessed it. Why it’s the T-shirt of course. For the past year or so plain T-shirts, like super basic white & black have been making quite the true understated statement. Courtesy of the Olsens perhaps? They’ve sure got a knack for pairing the most plain white t-shirt with some ripped jeans or posh trousers, making it look uber trendy, effortless and chic. Throw in some hot heels and damn girl you’ll be crossing the streets on your way to work like those cool models in between fashion shows! I really do think this T-shirt mania is turning into quite the trend and I love it. As of lately though, the plain Jane of fashion clothes has umped up its game, and with a helping hand of those grunge 90s, we’re all donning in despair the IT top of the moment: the Vintage Inspired T-shirt. Should it have remained stuck in the grunge era or not? By the likes of it, I’m quite inclined to say hell no, it’s the most amazing comeback! I can’t believe it’s cool again to wear silly text t-shirts & my fave band or musician’s face all over the once plain fabric. I’d sure like to see some posh business woman heading to work in her Kings of Leon T-shirt and a black suit. :) t-shirt-trend olsen-tshirt picture-t-shirt Though it was never gone from retail, catwalks or the streets, the T-shirt does seem to get more attention these days. We’re all probably sick of silky tops and leather jackets so we’re rocking the edgy style differently: bad-ass Tee and business blazer. What I love about the T-shirt look is the chicness and the feeling I get from the one wearing them: relaxed, doesn’t take themselves too seriously yet manages to make a style statement. It looks amazing and put together paired with trousers and a blazer. It’s edgy and rock’sih with a leather jacket. Super fun and sexy with cutoffs (depends if your wearing boots or pumps) and extremely fashion forward tucked in a funky skirt. It allows us to clash styles brilliantly.

It’s OK now to wear t-shirt elsewhere than the gym. Actually it’s a sign of sophistication (thus betraying your inner fashionista) to don plain t-shirts & vintage inspired ones any given time of day & night, from the most conservative office to the most posh working environment.  AND pull it through all the way into the cocktail drinks and dinner after work meetings / parties. Not to mention: on weekends the choices are limitless (read cutoffs and t-shirt; jeans and slouchy tee; skirt and that vintage Guns’n Roses t-shirt). Oh and one more thing (OMG almost forgot the best part)… if you’re running out of cool t-shirts, or you get those days when your packed closet actually looks empty… this T Trend flashes the free card to your naughty side. Stealing. (did you think of something else or what?) :) Get your hands on your boyfriend’s T-shirts. For a cool look make sure you roll up the sleeves and slightly tuck them in. Pile on jewellery, amazing nails & red lips for an urban feminine style.

chiara-ferragni-peplum Lately I’ve been bombarded by people (who do not have a clue nor an interest in fashion, so I really do not see where their curiosity is coming from) with the ever-classic (read cliche) question “What should we wear this spring, what’s trendy?” So my job may be to blame for this, as everyone thinks whoever works in fashion is well dressed, just because to them that’s what fashion is all about: being super trendy, posh and put together. I see it completely different: fashion is a way of expressing yourself, beyond and regardless of any boundaries whatsoever. And at the end of the day style is what matters. And that’s what true fashion is.

But anyway, I smile back containing my urge to roll my eyes and spill all the beans on trends. YES trends are a part of fashion. And a big one mind you, but it’s how you mix them and wear them that betray your style. Not to mention I probably come across like a wacko for most of these people, fashion wise. Like ripped jeans and pumps? Talk to the hand girlfriend. Or my boyfriend’s t shirt and some super posh necklace. What the fuck? Thank God I love stirring up a bit of controversy and watching elbows bumping by and hardly ever contained smiles or raised eyebrows. We’ve all got those know-it-all Miss Goody Two Shoes aunts or whatev who think if they’re wearing a black top they look edgy and have got it all nailed down. Fair enough, I do not judge and couldn’t care less what anyone is donning as long as they’re happy with it. Ah… had to get all this off my chest :)

Back to today’s topic: Trends & Peplums. Yeah, peplums have been around for quite some time now and it seems to me it’s a trend that’s refusing to die. Should we all scream enough already or be ecstatic it’s still on for 2013 Spring & Summer? (and NO they had no idea what I was talking about when I told them peplum is still in. HA! Was a mean bitch at that one, but I was only trying to make a point to the lot, which again they’ve been oblivious to.) :) FASHION Peplums 1 peplum-diane-von-firstenberg peplum-look-diave-von-furstenberg To be honest with you I was a bit surprised last FW when so many designers were showing loads of peplums for their 2013 S/S collections, and not because I hate it, just because I admit I had an impulse of AGAIN?! But why fix it if it ain’t broken, right? From 1800s peplums did a great job for women of all ages and silhouettes. It had a huge comeback in the 1940’s due to Chrsitian Dior‘s fabulous peplum jackets as part of les deux pieces and since last year… we can’t seem to get enough of this fad. Now is there a rule as to which peplum fits what body type? I have no idea. Never wore one (I’ve got it down on my list though) but I assume it’s a case of everyone’s happy with it, because peplums do justice to both skinny & curvy figures, making each type look good. Take Kim Kardashian for instance. This woman loves peplums. And with a few exceptions she rocks them, just because they accentuate her waist and play up her curves. Why hide it if it’s there. Flaunt it. For the less blessed curvy ones? It adds magic where’s there’s less.

From left to right PEPLUM by: Alexander McQueen, Dries Van Noten, Balenciagapeplum-tops1 Kim Kardashian Shops At Christian Louboutin In Tight Jeans And A Leather Peplum Top kim-kardashian-peplum-look From the uber extravagant ones that look like huge folded circles around your waist & hips to the more simple designs – peplums are in and still causing a frenzy. Or not. I mean they look great… but it’s starting to look like those S/S trends that never die: florals, navy, prints… Just saying. Observations aside peplum has got that understated elegance and classic vibe to it, while some designs can look super avantgarde and edgy. So you see. It is a case of everyone’s happy. peplum-trend But when it comes to actually wearing one you need to choose: Peplum TOPS vs Peplum BOTTOMS? I suppose tops are easier to pull off and mix with an infinite number of outfits, tied to so many looks: maxi skirts, mini skirts, tight, A-line, trousers, shorts, cut-offs. Peplum tops have got a bit more versatility to them and if you choose a super statement one – like a leather peplum top (this one’s on my list) you’ll be wearing the crap out of it, just cause it goes with absolutely anything for any time of the day & night.

Now that’s a different story. Or Not. They’ve got a bit more razzmatazz to them and even a slight edge. Picture a mini peplum skirt with a tucked in shirt, t-shirt of tank top. And hot heels. Yeah I know, pretty hard to say no to such a look.

A proper well designed peplum will give you a free card to eat all you want at a dinner party and hide it away! GENIUS! Don’t know about you, but I’m sold. What the hell was I waiting for all this time? :)

d52b9db0ac9382f0ec92e585a17c7bb5 I swear to God sometimes fashion is like a confused bitch (pardon my French), I mean one minute it’s cool to wear say brights, and the next they’re already dated. Yesterday we were all hipsters for trying (and succeeding thank you) in mixing and matching prints, textures, colors et all, today they’re so last Tuesday. Yes you heard me. Just when I finally got the hang (and master) of piling on all the crazy things into one cool eclectic look. Ah… talk about wasting my time, Fashion! :) Jesus if only we’d known it was a challenge doomed form the very start we might have taken style notes from our grannies. Well with the Matchy Matchy Trend invading the retail chains and the streets, this just seems like the next best thing to do in order nail this new trend. To put it in a nutshell: it’s granny & retro turned hipster. That’s what it’s all about when it comes to Matchy Matchy Trendflower-prints-matchy-matchy matchy-matchy-street-style (3) Matching tops to bottoms can seriously sound (and sometimes appear) so boring, safe and way too color coordinated, but it’s an art that takes time mastering. Nobody wants to look retro old or like a super young grandma caught in between centuries, right? So… how to keep it posh and trendy? The key is accessorizing and choosing modern cuts, fitted and tailored. Sexy shoes and gorgeous bags or clutches make matchy matchy outfits look modern and sophisticated. Big earring (they are quite coveted this season) give a touch of chic richness to a super coordinated look. And then I guess it’s rather easy, and that’s the best part about this trend (less of  how-to-wear-it-type of headaches), just match your skirt to a cute top, a pair of sophisticated trousers with a cropped top for instance. You know, very Dolce & Gabanna Sicilian take on fashion. Ah… Another matchy matchy fave look for me is the shorts & blazer. I found it young, fun, effortless and super chic. shorts-suit-matchy-matchy 924ee0fb9293d85b8ee6dbb75d790d4a ana-beatriz-barros-matchy-matchy dole-and-gabanna-outfit-street-style trend-matchy-matchy Which brings me to the catwalks. Everyone did it. The runways were packed at Stella McCartney, Celine, Hermes, JW Anderson with matchy matchy looks. Who thought women were gonna go to their fave retail shop and literally buy the matching bottoms with tops? Hmm. Next time some credit please! :) Dolce-Gabbana-Spring-2013-matchy-matchy DKNy-matchy-matchy print-matchy-designer-look runway-look-matchy-matchy Matchy Matchy with prints please!

Matchy Matchy may be rather predictable and bleah… BUT I suppose we can still have fun with it, right? My favorite matchy matchy looks are any bottoms (skirts, shorts, trousers) paired with a cropped top or even better, a bustier. A look that sort of reminds me of 1950s French Riviera & Sophia Loren. For a more business/office, smart look it’s now OK to pair printed trousers with the same print shirt,  OR even worse better with a blazer. Now this, I’m not really feeling… though I know that the deux-pieces concept is supposedly gaining terrain right now… I don’t know. Yet. Here are a few street style looks that seriously make me reconsider this trend:  flower-print-matchy-matchy head-to-toe-prints-matchy-matchy matchy-matchy matchy-matchy-look-street-style beyonce-matchy-matchy-look matchy-matchy-style matchymatchy-suit matchy-matchy-suit matchy-matchy-suit-street-style matchy-matchy-tops-bottoms matchy-matchy-trend solange-knowles-matchy-matchy-deux-pieces spring-trend-matchy-matchy (2) spring-trend-matchy-matchy Matchy Matchy monochrome!

This one color head-to-toe was a big thing last spring as well, and to be honest with you I don’t even know what the big difference is between the monochromatic trend & the matchy machy one in one color… Anyway the idea is to match your bottoms with any type of tops: blazers, shirts, bustires, blouses et ell. Get creative… we so need to with this super coordinated trend.  matchy-matchy-street-style-one-color matchy-matchy-street-style monochromatic-matchy-matchy one-color-matchy-matchy shorts-blazer-matchy-matchy And now your turn lovelies… what do your think? YES or NO to the matchy matchy trend?

creepers OK so when it comes to creepers I have a love & hate relationship with the thick-sole-shoes. And tons of headaches. Just because I literally do not know whether I like them or not, OR I get those days when I absolutely love them, but it all ends in a rather blunt manner when I decide to wear them. Yeah, I know, I’m such a chicken when it comes to taking some fashion risque. It’s just that to me creepers come with an age group affinity: think teens and early 20s, and if there’s one thing I get panicked about, is looking ridiculous.  But I too once was a teenager and back in the 90s, when the creepers had yet another fashion revival I wore them. Hell I loved them. My tiny reticence back then was due to my ”too-tall” self-consciousness, but my love for the creepers won and I wore them pretty much all the time. They were dark blue with thick black soles… and looked amazing with flared jeans! At least I thought so… red-creepers-street-style teddy-boys-creepers So all this spotlight fashion game played by the creepers had me asking questions like why? What’s is up with these shoes that we always get these rush crushes over them, I mean they’re not that great looking nor flattering. Sure they can easily add height, but so can heels. Then it hits me: COMFORT. With an edge. The Brothel Creepers first saw daylight in WWII, on soldiers’ feet and then, upon their return to England they pretty much invaded the streets and won over the hearts of those Teddy boys. In the 70s creepers had their glory days as Malcom McLaren & Vivienne Westwood were selling them on King’s Road in London. Yep it was the punk era! Ever since, they’ve pretty much remained in fashion (not in the spotlight though) as part of the punk look & culture and it was in the 90s they became mainstream again. What did you expect with the Spice Girls wearing them all over the place? And… here we are today. Have creepers changed over the years? I should hope so… Although fashion is all about going back and stealing other decades’ trends it also stands for reinterpretation, and if there’s anything the 2000s are great at, than that’s reinventing fashion/styles, making the most niche things lovable and wearable for the big masses. Teddy Boy spice-girls-creepers-2 With millions of designs and styles, the creepers are not looking that bad (at least not today. God I need to make up my mind!) and they do tend to give a certain artsy & bohemian vibe to an outfit, OR a grunge & punk twist to a look. Though seemingly quite niche I tend to think they can be quite versatile too, especially today with so many designs, colors & prints right under our noses, that I think there’s a thick sole for everyone. Black, colored, glittery, studded, sky-high, lace et all – at the end of the day it’s all about what best works for you. I love how some people are wearing them in the most fabulous way, like Susie Bubble for instance – she looks perfect in creepers. Not a hint of masculinity, not a hint of ridiculousness. All is sweet, cute and very trendy! pink-creepers

susie-bubble-creepers susie-lau-creepers The Colored Creepers be it one color altogether or just crazy colored soles – look great with cut-offs, skirts & jeans giving that fun, Tom-boyish meets girly vibe to it all. I love the brogues/oxford creepers, personally I think they look amazing and would be pretty much the only ones I could don with total confidence. Though they may appear tricky to wear I do think creepers (with a modest sole) can be styled and tied to almost any look. They’ve got that androgynous smart thing about them and tend to look rather classic with a twist. Here are a few street style photos for inspo.

Colored Creepers – fun shoes for any looks azealia-banks-pink-creepers creepers-dress-street-style creepers-hot-pants street-style-creepers-leather-pants The black sky-high sole creepers (studs, spikes, patent, glitter) are more for the teens, and for grunge looks, which though I adore on a regular basis… I do not fancy that much in creepers. Might be the too boy’ish look, too dark, too teen-appropriate… but I will give you this: they look fantastic with leather trousers/leggings and black coat. And I would wear a black creepers pair with an all black trousers outfit and a cool bag. I suppose it all comes down to donning it with confidence and whatever looks good and makes you’re inner fashionista glow – it works, right? Here are a few Punk /Grunge inspired creepers looks that might make you reconsider any creepers aversion, if any.

However they will not replace my addiction to heels. Comfort anyone? That’s what sneakers and ballet fla s are for, at least in my case, and with summer around the corner, the gladiator flat sandals are fantastic. So while I’m not jumping with joy over this trend… I will however not dismiss it that quickly!

When a fashion meets business event takes place and one is invited to partake, my mind races off to clothes, styles, looks. Yeah, pretty much a case of fashion obsession, which in all honesty is quite normal. Are we not fashion bloggers who love a great style? Exactly. Just a few days ago I got invited to such an event in my home country Romania in Oradea and I am so very excited to go next week, take the pulse of the fashion scene and have an excuse for some traveling. That being said, I confess in all predictability that besides my work at this event (which, it goes without saying, is always under control (hopefully): camera, laptop, networking, interviews, writing, et all) I am stressing (in a good way) over what to wear. I am attending the fashion show & wine tasting, but it’s all part of this huge business gathering… so I would assume keeping it classic is the key. But you know me… I have got to be a bit edgy or put a slight twist to any classic or too smart/elegant outfit. To me they are boring, or just not my exact cup of tea, hence my need to jazz it up a bit. Still I do not wish to stand out on ridiculousness. God forbid everyone is wearing black and I turn up in a fantasy pink gown. Lol. Joking. Being a daytime happening with a touch of fashion I will try to keep it classic with a twist. Think Olivia Palermo style. What I do not know yet… and would love a little help out is to go for trousers or skirt? street-style street-style-dress (3) Before the battle of the bottoms begins note that I will not make any business nor weather compromise and will not part with my bright pink-red’ish heels (my classic pumps) & my statement necklace. AND I will give red lips a go :) That being said, on one hand I am considering wearing statement trousers: floral print, graphic, black & white, with side pockets, fitted (not quite skinny), think tailored suit-style. Regarding the top I may go for a silky blouse or shirt, OR I would love to don a black leather top, an uber fun sweatshirt or plain t-shirt that would look so fantastic with the statement necklace & the red lips, right? Blazer, cool bag, bracelets, rings & great nails to pull it all together. Some street style photos for inspiration :)

My favorites are pencil skirts with sweatshirts  – which is another great option, or a mismatched printed skirt & top. Maxi dresses or skirts may just be too much, but I adore them. Ah… So yes I shall be hitting the mall over the weekend and see if anything fantastic catches my eye. I mean these women in the photos look fabulous but to get some of these looks one might just have to break the bank. I always say style is not about the price/designer tags but about owning it! It’s not what you wear it’s HOW you wear it, right?

Have a great weekend & bank holidays lovelies & Happy Easter! xoxo
