3 Tips for Staying Warm And Stylish This Winter
You’ll have a hard time finding someone whose favorite season for fashion is winter. Many people usually use the season to hide out under multiple layers. It also doesn’t help that fashion designers seem to treat winter as an off-season. Winter fashion can still be fun, but you have to prioritize warmth and comfort. This is especially true if you live somewhere with extreme cold and strong winds. Let’s take a look at a few tips you can follow to stay warm and stylish this winter.
Get a Good Winter Jacket
Look for a quality winter jacket. Where you live and the type of condition you have to deal with will make a huge difference here.
If where you live gets bitterly cold, then you need to look for a jacket that blocks strong winds and has good insulation. Natural down is considered the best, but it’s not the most ethical insulation material. If you don’t want to use animal products, you could go with something that uses polyester synthetics like Thinsulate, PrimaLoft, or FullRange instead.
If you live somewhere where the weather is a bit milder, then something like a wool Tribal Jacket could work. Depending on how cold it gets, you could go for a long wool jacket to cover your legs, a sleeveless puffer jacket, or even a jeans jacket. It all depends on your style and the type of conditions you have to deal with.
Learn How to Layer Properly
Learning the art of layering is extremely important if you want to be as warm as possible. Air is one of the best insulators in the world, and the more layers you have, the more air pockets you create underneath your coat.
You need to start with a solid base layer under everything. A thermal base layer will keep you warm no matter the condition if you have a good top layer to protect you. This will also limit the number of layers you’ll have to wear so you won’t look puffy. You could even get away with wearing nothing but the base layer when the weather is mild or when doing physical activity like jogging.
On top of this layer, you can add whatever you want, whether it’s a wool sweater, a turtle neck, or anything else you wanted to wear. You should also have a nice scarf for additional protection and to protect your face from strong gusts of wind.
Don’t be afraid to wear additional bottom layers as well. You can wear long johns under jeans and leggings under dresses. The thighs are one of the most vulnerable body parts in winter, so keep them warm, even if it means putting on jogging pants under your regular pants.
Keep Your Feet Warm and Dry
One of the worst things that could happen to you in the winter is to get your feet wet at low temperatures. Always try to look for waterproof boots. If your boots don’t have water protection, wear multiple sock layers and seal the outside using petroleum jelly. You can also use tricks like putting your feet in disposable shower caps or even plastic bags before putting your boots on.
These are all things you’ll need to do if you want to stay warm and look great this winter. Always check the temperature and be ready for anything the weather throws at you before you go out.
xoxo.
