Some of the new celebs out there seem to just have it all. Beauty, fame, money. And style. And Whitney Port is no exception. After starring in two of the most watched TV reality shows at that time: The Hills & The City, she scored every-girls-dream-jobs: at Teen Vogue, in fashion PR, at top designer Diane Von Furstenberg, only to later design and launch her own fashion line ‘Whitney Eve’ . A feminine, sophisticated, cocktail dress meets rock chick line. Exactly like Whitney if you ask me. And not bad at all!
Her eclectic style – as she likes to describe it – is in tune with her moods, so it comes to no surprise that we sometimes spot her in the most boy’ish outfits, sporting trainers, old shorts, large dusted T-shirts, only to – next day – find her in the coolest mini flirty dresses or classic black suit. What she never ditches is her chunky jewellery & centre parted hair. And for confidence boost she resorts to heels! But I do think it’s not the case ’cause even her worst day outfit or mood still ooze sophistication and edginess. A bit too laid back, perhaps… but that’s what makes Whitney Port so cool. She’s never stuck in one look. She’s never fashion close minded. She explores. She lets moods make a mess or a bless out of it. Courageous & sexy. Laid back & urban, she knows what to put on without the slightest effort. And this applies whether she’s out on the streets of NYC on business sipping out of her Starbucks coffee looking trendy and smart, or whether she’s out chilling in LA, layering in London, vacationing who knows where or glowing on the red carpet.
When asked about her wardrobe staples she confesses she remains faithful to the same 3 items: leather jacket, short printed dresses and funky heels! Her fashion influences come from the cities she’s travelled to or lived in. If in Los Angles you can spend your life in washed out-cropped jeans & a plain T-shirt, New York invites you to be sophisticated & urban, whereas London dictates cool & edgy.
Whitney Port manages to embody all those looks and easily sides from one to the other while keeping her own spin on it. Her style is a million looks, moods and outfits – yet always one. Always recognizable. Fresh, sexy, laid back & urban. Feminine & sophisticated. Could she be a true style icon of her generation (and those to come) or is she merely a celebrity into fashion? Well… I guess we’ll have to keep an eye on her, won’t we…
