What’s Your Hat Style This Winter?
I wonder whether or not the ubiquity of a trend makes it less appealing to the fashion forward sartorial lot, OR are we (please notice my self-inclusion in the aforementioned category), upon this reality, forced to be more experimental & innovative style wise?
I’d like to assume the latter, and bring to the table the simple example of this season’s greatest trend: HATS of all sorts.
They. Are. Everywhere this season. From floppy, wide brimmed, and fedoras, all the way to beanies, veiled beanies, cat-ears beanies, fur hats, fur beanies, baseball caps (still) the little thingies covering our masterminds are fabulous to say the least.
For hats lovers or cold-temperature-challenged people this trend is a blessing. It’s like eating tones of cake and not getting fat..
Yeah. As if.
What are the HOTTEST HATS of 2015 WINTER?
BEANIES. Aww the sweet little knitted (or not) classic head cover is having its spotlight for quite sometime. You can either go for simple styles in basic colors, or have fun with the infinite number of designs, colors, beads/faux fur/sequins/studs appliques.
Styling tips: 1) a classic black beanie can hide a bad hair day + pull together a cozy winter outfit. 2) A statement beanie (think veiled style, neon/bright colors, or cat-ears beanies can instantly make an outfit more fun, quirky, edgy, cool, without you actually putting an effort into it. ;)
HATS. The obsession in town right now is for wide brimmed hats, that somehow resemble witches’ hats, OR are a combo of the fedora + floppy style ones.
They instantly make an outfit more sophisticated and give that celebrity/star vibe to a look.
The styles are infinite here and you can play whatever character you wish, from posh socialite, model, actress, to grungy teen, chic mom, effortless Parisian gal…
FAUX-FUR HATS. Think rich woman going for a skiing weekend somewhere, beautiful Russian on her everyday business, or model off duty who’s gotta stay warm in winter in between shows.
BUCKET HATS. Rihanna tried to bring it back in fashion for a little bit last summer. Did she succeed?
Well… I wouldn’t say no to wearing one, just to break the ice, but it is quite a tricky hat style that’s famous with the kids, or that in the past was worn by those middle aged men on some beach somewhere, trying to blend in with the cool kids. Don’t know what was worse, the sight of them looking like fried chickens with a bucket on their heads, or them actually thinking they looked great?
Anyway… today you don’t wear the bucket hat unless you’ve got enough swag that you actually need to tone it down a bit. Hence the bucket hat.
BASEBALL HATS. Anytime. Anywhere. They can pretty much make anyone look trendy in a very effortless sort of way. And the fashion rules of wearing one only when you’re dressed sporty/gym is so last Tuesday. It’s all about experimenting. More here.
And now more pics.
Personally I love them all, BUT a beanie I choose to wear cause, guess what, age is kicking in and I’m feeling a bit chilly sometimes. A HAT I love on others, but on me not so much. At my 5”10 that’s what I’m missing a hat on my head to stand out of the crowd even more. Yeah. At the end of the day I must confess… I’m not a very hat/beanie kinda gal. YET…
Have a lovely weekend y’all! xoxo
