How About This Massive Trend: THICK BIG BOLD Eyebrows?

thick-eyebrows (3)If the 90’s marked you in a few ways, then clearly you too plucked the shit out of your eyebrows in the hope of channeling Gwen Stefani or Kate Moss, when in fact we looked like crap. Surprised all the time. Older. And not prettier.

Little did we know then how wise and crystal clear our vision would turn a few years later. FACT: thick eyebrows make a face look younger. That’s just how plain silly simple this eyebrow business is. The less you pluck and the more natural in size and shape you keep them, chances are they’ll frame your face better than any stylist or your own mastering eye slash hand could. I guess we had to 1st give the clown look a go only to realize that Brooke Shields was right all along. kate-moss-eyebrowscelebs-eyebrows-before-and-jlo-thin-thick-eyebrowsGlamour Women Of The Year Awards 2013keira-knightly-thick-eyebrowslilly-colins-thick-eyebrows (2)Sad part is though, fast forward a few years and if you’re not Brooke, Cara Delevingne or Lily Collins – chances are our eyebrows are still struggling to grow while we have to come to terms with those Marlene Dietrich’ish thin lines. I mean eyebrows. Everyday. But listen, it could be worse. You could have had them shaved off and tattooed. Hope not though. Oh God, really hope not.

Never ever follow fashion and trends verbatum. Especially when it’s your face and the chances of things going back to square one are 50-50.

Anyway… in case you followed the over-plucking trend, today, you, like myself might be struggling with growing them out.

(I’m almost there, but then again, it was always around this time I gave up and felt they looked messy rather than fashion-bushy. I’ve been trying to grow them out for more than a year, but I always fell off the wagon around this time. this is the longest I took without plucking them. 3 weeks. Ah… hope to make it to one month. Mine were really dark (still are actually) compared to my hair and very very thick. Yeah I kick myself all the time for the over plucking but it could have been worse. They do grow out, I’ve noticed, by their own rules, it just takes time getting used to the messy style before they can turn into thick and slightly groomed.)

If one thing’s great, it’s that finally there’s something from the 90s we don’t do anymore. We actually hate. And for the right reasons. celebs-thin-eyebrowsSo when and how come this bushy trend started? Was it because of this Cara Delevinge. Or Lilly Colins. Or Keira Knightely? Or is it just fashion at the end of the day: it’s new for us, hell we’ll take it, thank you very much.

“‘Having bad eyebrows is worse than being fat.”

”Eyebrow game? It’s complimenting someone’s eyebrows. For a lot of girls having really thick, strong and “fierce” eyebrows is pretty in right now.”

… and high-tops, cutoffs and cropped tops, may I add. Pink hair as well. It’s like we’re all trying to be kids again. It’s fun yeah, but is it healthy? Or maybe we’re all realizing au natural is so much better. I’ll go with this version, cause it is true (the natural part). Oh and I’m too old for the rest of that shit.

Serious talk aside and perhaps lingered upon in another post, truth is BIG BOLD EYEBROWS are amazing! They do take years off a face, make you look fresh, young and very bold. But not all is clear and pink in paradise. The question is:

Is there a line between great thick eyebrows and unkept eyebrows? Or is the bushy unkept style the new-cool? cara-look-thick-eyebrowsCara Delevingne Closes 'Charlotte Tilbury's House of Rock n'Kohl' at Selfridgeslilly-colins-thick-eyebrowsMILAN-Street-Style-Diego-Zukomodels-new-look-thick-eyebrowsMulberry-Lo-bbt-S14-011-mainstreet-style-thick-eyebrowsthick-eyebrows (2)thick-eyebrows (4)thick-eyebrows (5)thick-eyebrows (6)thick-eyebrowsthick-eyebrows-lookthick-eyebrows-trendthick-eyebrows-trend-2014thick-eyebrows-trend-2014-spring-summerI think it’s all a matter of taste here. Some may like totally natural eyebrows, bushy, big and wild and may be able to pull it off, while some may like them a little bit styled and groomed. Plucked a bit but maintaining the same shape and thick size. Personally I say let them wild and free and enjoy this fuss-free-plucking trend while it lasts. Later… pluck them if you wish but within reason.thick-eyebrows-look (2)Whatever the beauty trends, natural will always be cooler then anything and make us look younger and fresher. On the eyebrows busy topic now… what do you think?
