Mirror Mirror On The Wall – Which Style Is The Most Elegant Of Them All?
Article by Ghintare Survilaite
If you want to talk about sophistication, excess and luxury in terms of fashion, talk about baroque style. Born around 1600 in Rome, Italy and spread shortly around Europe, baroque style is all about emotion and drama. So if you are looking for an elegant evening gown, a black one with golden embroideries will make you look like a million dollars.
Spiraling details, golden colors, lace and velvet prints sometimes combined with leopard and flower prints are features of this fashion style, a style to be adopted by those who are not afraid to be noticed.
If it’s elegant, it doesn’t mean it has to be boring, take a look at these wonderful colors in the pictures below, you can almost see Michelangelo adding a sophisticated touch to their clothes.
This season’s designers to be inspired by baroque style and create an absolutely wonderful fall/winter 2012/2012 collections are Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. Dolce & Gabbana designed not only a remarkable clothing line, but also accessories, the ones to die for are the Sicilian Baroque inspired sunglasses, we’ll have a topic on that too. The spring/summer 2013 collection is also baroque inspired.
Baroque style is the height of elegance in terms of evening dresses. Golden embroideries on a black backdrop decorated with pearls…can you even imagine something more elegant than this?
As you already know you can mix styles, prints and clothing items to match your mood, your style or simply to try looking good day by day or for certain occasions. Here you have a modern baroque style: lace dresses that show a lot of skin paired with leather trousers….yes! we’re still talking about baroque; golden embroideries on short leather pants or…even baroque elements embellishing a casual outfit: sweaters decorated with spiraling details or baroque bomber jackets. Nowadays in fashion everything is possible :) .
Baroque is also about flower prints and colors, as I already pointed out, and you’ll see a lot of it this summer because this style inspired the high-fashion designers, but low-end brands are up-to-date as well, so you won’t have to sell your car in order to buy a baroque style inspired clothing item ;)
