2012 MTV Movie Awards. Best & Worst Dresses
Another red carpet event… another craze among all fashion bloggers… Though I’m not a huge fan of covering red carpet stories it’s just something that comes with the territory and besides it does come in handy sometimes to have a reference of evening/cocktail looks. Who knows what events we might be invited or have to go to & some inspiration might be quite helpful.
Though it’s not the Oscars or the Cannes, MTV Movie Awards brings some edge, looseness and cool on the red carpet. It’s more of cocktail looks rather than red carpet. Shorter hemlines, lots of make up, bangles, wild hair, unconventional dresses, statement shoes, easy going looks or over the top outfits. It’s all permitted. And why not? After all it is a teenage event, it is more laid back. It is about being young, different etc.
But with all the loose limits & fashion non-existing boundaries we still get the occasional faux pas or worst dressed. Could it be a matter of taste, bad stylist? Or could the guilty celeb have been in an non-bothered mood? How hard can it be to choose simplicity when you have no idea what to wear…
Well who knows, but until we figure that one out – here’s a close look at 2012 MTV Movie Awards dresses.
2012 MTV Movie Awards – Best Dressed
To be honest with you I did like quite a few of them and thought celebs such as Charlize Theron, Kristen Stewart, Emma Stone – really nailed it this year. Brilliant dresses & amazing looks all together. Nicki Reed was on my best dressed list as well, with a very ’20s inspired glamed look. Loved it. Ellie Kemper was a young hottie in summer. She looked coloured, fresh & quite event appropriate. Not too bad. Leighton Meester though much labled by other blogs or publications as worst dressed, was one of my fave. I loved her summer relaxed sexy feel with the touch of red lips. Christina Ricci & Elizabeth Banks were not bad but not my top of the list either. Eva Amurri was quite serious but not at all bad, Jenna Dewan was sexy and that’s it & Mila Kunis can look hot in a sack. Loved her mini dress.
2012 MTV Movie Awards – Worst Dressed
The Worst Dressed list might not be long but it somehow finds the same faces on it… Ciara was looking hot – no question about that, but was she not trying too much? Quiet a tacky cheap look in my book. She must have picked her outfit with Brooke Hogan. Does that qualify for a dress? What are you trying to tell us Brooke? And the Hiltons. They are not bad but somehow they manage to look a bit funny like weird Hollywood caricatures. Well not Nicky (I do think she knows her fashion bits) but Paris is always ruining it with the too much mistake: too much glitter, too much make up, too much tan, too much blonde, too much pose. The dresses are actually great, just don’t like the look overall. Juliane Hough was… well… not on her best day/event look. Again too much: short, cut out, glitter, blonde, tan. Ladies try to be different from the crowd… in a good way! And poor Jessica Biel… what was she thinking? Oh wait… nothing. Or maybe Justin? You know Jess – being an almost married woman does not mean not having to care about how you show up at events. If you can’t be bothered just don’t attend anymore. Or simply ditch the granny look. And Emma Watson was OK, but nothing spectacular.
Well that’s it for my red carpet cover. Have a look and see who’s your best & worst.
