Street Luxe. True Fashion Lies In Details

Have you noticed what always seems to catch your eye in an outfit or a person you see passing by on the street? It’s her bag. Her ring. Her bracelet. Nail polish. Necklace. Lipstick. Shoes. It’s always the details that make us turn heads. Or turn our heads. And why not, ’cause in the end no matter what you wear, regardless of brand or price tag when you add just the right piece – it makes all the difference. Sure we add our little, cost efficient items (but still so amazing) – while celebs and VIPs relish on (sometimes inappropriate) opulence and luxury. Anyway affording it or not I do love to peek and give a critique look at some… perhaps too spicy priced items lavishly hanging in celebs hands. I guess we’ve all got our guilty pleasures haven’t we? A while ago I came…

2012 Summer Shoes. Step In Style

What can make and break an outfit? Shoes that’s for sure! In 2012 Summer you’ll keep your head down, not for shame or shyness – but for spotting the feet fashion on the streets. From flats to sky high heels, from glitter to wood & canvas, from nudes to brights, mules to mary janes – it’s all out there. Just go on now… get your pick and run the streets like Carrie Bradshaw in her Jimmy Choos or Manolo Blahniks. What I love about this summer’s shoes is that there’s lots of color and texture. And floral prints are not just for the clothes – designers such as Christian Louboutin & Burberry adorned their 2012 Summer Shoes Collections in prints and colors that just make me crave for those shoes as if I’ve never seen a prettier sight. I love that wedges and platforms are…

Mad Men Craze Starts New Fashion Trend. The 60’s Are Back!

Hollywood TV series ‘Mad Men’ had the whole media go mad this week as the new season begun. It all seems to point in the same direction: a new trend and fashion inspired look is right around the corner this year – The 60’s! Yes ladies and gentlemen The Retro Look is The New Look. Not that retro was ever too retro to be forgotten, if I come to think of it, was it? Anyway… whatever those fab, conservative, sexy ‘cats’ (women) on Mad Men wear is a reference point to us all. Designers’ collections predicted this 60’s Retro craze, if you only think of Mulberry, Preen, Temperley London, Christian Dior. Or just have a look at Banana Republic launching an entire Mad Men Inspired Line and you’ll start to see the whole pic. Ah… I can almost see it – ‘The streets will be…

From The Catwalks To Celebrities & Then Straight To The Streets. 2012 Floral Print Trousers SpringTrend

I’m sure you all remember your moms in the the ’80’s wearing floral print trousers. My mom looked fabulous in them. In the ’90’s I hated all our fashion legacy. Floral prints? How cheesy and kitsch. But you know what? Now 20 years later they are leading the runways and the streets… and I love them! As I always say there is nothing new to fashion, just reinvented, nipped and tucked… As if that’s so wrong! 2012 Spring Fashion Weeks all plunged into a garden of Eden and delivered us explosions of floral prints. Dolce & Gabbana’s show still remains my fave with sexy, floral Sophia Loren’s look-a-likes invading the runway. Salvatore Ferragamo’s floral print silky jumpsuit can turn any fashion ignorant into a real fashionista. And the list goes on with Cavalli, Thakoon, Mary Katranzou, Osman, Isabel Marant, J. Krew or Alaexander Wang. They…

The Trench Coat. Our 1st and Only True Love

When Renee Zellwegger wore a red trench coat for a dress on the red carpet in 2011 America’s fashion critiques were at a loss: praise or blast her. A reaction that must have resembled society after WWII, because it must have been more than their practicality that had all the post war ladies steal these smart and effortlessly chic looking coats from their husbands. The trench coat designed somewhere between 1850 and 1901 by Burberry and Aquascutum was to become the world’s most sought after, trendy, classic piece. Since then designers have tried to reinvent it, nip it and tuck it on every runway show for the past 60 years. Yet its inventors still dominate the trench coat style a century later. To our relief, with insignificant exceptions sometimes irritating (true!), the world still goes for the classic chic look. Double breasted, tan, shoulder strapped…
