SAG Awards 2013 Red Carpet! Best & Worst Dresses!

Actor Bradley Cooper and actress Jessica Chastain arrive at the 19th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los AngelesIn case you’ve got a case of ”I lost track of time” or amnesia due to your busy schedule, then all these red carpet events should be just the right kind of reminder. It’s January!!!! And we’re invaded by blog posts, articles, news, fashion police shows on all sorts of unoriginal subjects all based on the same money making theme: Red Carpet this, Red Carpet that – Best & Worst Looks/Dresses. Well you got the idea. Told you there’s something so selfishly appealing about playing the fashion cops that we just can’t help ourselves. To cut a long story short and not beat around the bush for too long… here it is: Last night Hollywood celebrated and partied at yet another award event – The SAG Awards 2013. And guess who won? Argo (eat your hear out Oscars), Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Lawrence, Jessica Chastain… same people basically. And good for them. Watched most of the films and have to say hats down to them all!Anne HathawayThe best dressed of the SAG 2013 Red Carpet were by far a few ladies that stood out, looked effortlessly beautiful and had a bit of glamour meets understated elegance: Amanda Seyfried in a blue Zac Posen mermaid dress & Jessica Chastain who looked fabulous in a red Alexander McQueen red mermaid gown. I also loved Jennifer Garner in her gold sequined strapless fitted Oscar de la Renta dress. I swear this woman looks more beautiful by the day. And she seems to not try at all… hmm. There’s your secret. Lea Michele was pretty fab in Valentino. I’m not a big fan of pink dresses (although Nina Dobrev too picked a pink Elie Saab and was gorgeous in it, so… guess it’s a matter of taste) but she pulled it off. My Latina crush was a stunner as always, loved Sofia Vergara in that white Donna Karan gown. Same mermaid silhouette though a bit reinvented (thank God, I was beginning to get bored with her wearing the exact same design every time). It was flowy, fluid, more simple… Fantastic look! Tina Fey & Amy Poehler went for classic elegance in black gowns and looked perfect. Simple Oscar de la Renta & Zuhair Murad dresses that just proved you can never go wrong with black. Helen Hunt was all glamed up but rather simple in her Romona Keveza grey sequined gown and Julianne Moore took the plunge in Chanel and stunned in a sweet, elegant and beautiful dress. The brides of the SAG 2013 were, alongside Vergara, Kerry Washington in a white Rodarte gown & Naomi Watts in a white sequined Marchesa. Other ladies who stunned on the red carpet were Naya Rivera in a black hot mermaid dress, Nicole Kidman in Vivienne Westwood who pulled it off this time (though I thought the dress could have been slightly longer) & Viola Davis who rocked her exotic turquoise Monique Lhuillier fluid dress. amanda-seyfried-beauty-look-sag-2013amanda-seyfried-red-carpet-sag-zac-posenjessica-chastain-sag-2013-makeupjessica-chastain-al-mcqueen-sag-red-carpetamy-poehler-zuhair-muradhelen-hunt-sag-red-carpet-romona-kevezajennifer-garner-red-carpet-sag-2013-oscar-de-la-rentajulianne-moore-beauty-sag-2013julianne-moore-sag-red-carpet-chanelkerry-washington-rodarte-sag-awards-2013-red-carpetlea-michele-beauty-look-sag-awards-2013lea-michele-valentino-sag-red-carpetnaomi-watts-sag-red-carpet-2013-marchesanaya-rivera-beautynaya-rivera-donna-karannicole-kidman-sag-awards-2013-red-carpet-viv-westwoodnina-dobrev-sag-awards-red-carpet-2013-elie-saabsofia-vergara-donna-karan-ateliertina-fey-beauty-sag-2013tina-fey-oscar-rentaviola-davis-monique-lhuillierUnlike other red carpet events, when the worst dressed list was never-ending  this time at the SAG all the beauties managed to pull it off. Though they may not be on a so called SAG worst dressed… the following ladies were not my faves. Or lets just say they were just OK. Well apart from January Jones… what was she thinking? Errr trying to channel a posh waitress on the red carpet? Or Claire Danes in Givenchy? I will not even got there. Wasn’t too keen on Freida Pinto‘s pink gown either, or Marion Cotillard‘s. It looked as if the French beauty just pulled all the fabric under her belt. Julianna Marguiles‘s beauty look was stunning but her dress… OMG. Forget about it. Not too keen on Michelle Dockery‘s black side boob dress either, nor Jennifer Lawrence in Dior. I honestly do not know why I’m never feeling Miss Lawrence’s carpet looks… I swear I try, but there’s just something wrong about some of those gowns. It’s like they don’t do her justice. And though this Dior one was alright… I was (yet again) just a tiny bit disappointed. As for Anne Hathaway… she looked beautiful, from her ankles up. I don’t generally like ankle length red carpet dresses, there I said it. Ah… well, but what do I know. Enough rambling. I’ll just let you decide for yourselves and please feel free to tell me your faves! Enjoy:) anne-hathaway-beauty-sag-2013anna-hathaway-sag-2013-red-carpet-giambatista-valliclaire-danes-bauty-look-sag-awards-2013claire-danes-givenchyfreida-pinto-sag-red-carpet-roland-mouretjanuary-jones-beauty-look-sag-awards-2013january-jones-sag-awards-2013-prabal-gurungjennifer-lawrence-beauty-sagjennifer-lawrence-sag-awards-2013-ch-dior-couturejulianna-margulies-bauty-look-sag-2013julianna-marguiles-chado-ralph-rucci-sag-awards-2013marion-cotillard-sag-red-carpet-ch-diormichelle-dockery-chado-ralph-ruciiphotos via People.com & Vogue

Golden Globes 2013 Red Carpet Dresses & Makeup! Who Was Best & Worst?

O.K. so finally the Golden Globes 2013 happened and it was all as we expected, actually better if I may I say so, fashion wise. With more best looks and dresses than worst, the 2013 Golden Globes Red Carpet was a truly fabulous one. Sure there were some small fashion horrors. Alyssa Milano I’m talking to you. What the hell was that all about? A gorgeous woman in a wrong dress & makeup. And of course your regular Helena Bonham-Carter, who’s starting to seem funny with time rather than bad. Oh… wait. No. Not really. Anyway, Hollywood’s posh people were just that: beautiful & glam. And of course talented. After all it was an award show, so we were bound to have some winners. Ben Affleck (sigh again), Jennifer Lawrence, Daniel Day Lewis, Hugh Jackman, Jessica Chastain, Anne HathawayGolden-Globes-Hosts-Tina-and-Amy-2013-eventThis year it seemed as if a bridal convention was happening at the Golden Globes, I mean have you seen the number of white/nude dresses? Are all the single ladies literally throwing hints or the already married ones poking our eyes? Ha! To be honest with you I’m not complaining  quite the opposite, I’m taking notes. After all I am getting married this summer so I’m constantly on the look out for my wedding dress and my bridesmaids ones. The ‘brides’ looked absolutely stunning, as most went for quite simple styles with a bit of glam and sparkles. Of course Jennifer Lopez would not be true to herself if she didn’t over do it. We’re all familiar with your Latina curves JLo. Hello! Now seriously, all comments aside, she was stunning! Megan Fox, Francesca Eastwood, Amanda Seyfried, Hayden Panattiere, Isla Fisher, Julianne Hough (although the lower part of her dress was quite the turn off, too puffy, too much, too princessy), Kelly Osbourne (not quite white, but close enough), Michelle Dockery (now I know everyone was in awe with her, but I thought she looked like a bird. The dress was amazing, just too bold at the shoulders for her already shoulder strong frame. Just saying.), Lea Michelle, Kerry Washington & Anne Hathaway – they were all in their wedding meets Golden Globes mood and most of them pulled off this look. Makeup & beauty wise I loved the simple, natural trend: simple makeup, less coloured lips, loose up-dos, waves, silky manes. The one thing they were all amazingly obsessed about with this Red Carpet event were the coloured glam statement earrings. They just put the glam in any look & perfectly complete a style giving it an ultimate class & richness. golden-globes-sparkly-beige-neutrals 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards - Arrivals

Some beauties or stylists out there need to thank Angelina Jolie’s leg for this. Were they all channeling that leggy look or what? Truth be told this style (cut) is an old favorite of mine, and I love how it looks on flowy textures & super long gowns. Now if you have a body like Miranda Kerr‘s… you’d be a fool not to do this look at least once. She looked fabulous in her uber high slit, plunging V-neck, dark red dress. Statement earrings – checked. Natural hair – checked, glowing natural makeup – checked. Eva Longoria went for black, backless super hot super high slit and looked fab! Updo and her classic makeup in place. Best part about her dress? Loved the 2 textures: lace upper part  (a classic with these events) and the flowy, sensual lower part. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley went for this look as well (not too surprised there) & Halle Berry who perhaps should have gone for a more simple look, just to avoid the fashion controversy with her dress this year. What I truly didn’t like about her dress, was the cutout part at the hip. And maybe the print. Besides it was a bit too summery, wasn’t it? 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards - Arrivals70th Annual Golden Globe Awards - Arrivals70th Annual Golden Globe Awards - Arrivals70th Annual Golden Globe Awards - ArrivalsKatherine-McPhee-2013-Golden_globes-dressMiranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom arrive at 70th Annual Golden Globe Awardsrosie-huntington-whiteley-jason-statham-golden-globes-2013-dressrosie-huntington-whiteley-jason-statham-golden-globes-2013-makeupMermaid silhouettes & princess shaped dresses (almost all in white) were the stars’ favorites this year, with Jessica Alba looking gorgeous, one of my faves fashion & makeup both, and Taylor Swift finally doing something different (no red lips, no curls, no red dress). She did look beautiful. Sofia Vergara, Kate Hudson, Nicole Kidman (not feeling her dress at all), Sarah Hyland (horrible hair & too made-up look & style for her), Naomi Watts, Amy Adams – went for slim, mermaid dresses. On the more romantic side we had: Jennifer Lawrence (red princess dress that was just OK), Zooey Deschanel, Julia Louis-Dreyfus & Lucy Liu (too fairy-tale).  And then there was the classic black & red with all ladies looking beautiful. Just comes to show that when in doubt stick with the classics and you’ll be fine. Jennifer Garner was simply beautiful & effortless in her red sparkling dress, natural hair & makeup. Marion Cotillard… was… I’m not even gonna go there.  For this kind of event I would have gone for a long gown. She probably could not make up her mind: long, short, long, short? It’s both. Same thinking had Rachel Weisz. Pretty bad if you ask me. But the ladies are super hot & talented so who are we to judge. I would have thought with these Golden Globes we’d be seeing loads of bright colors, and even neon shades. Yet as you can see most went for white, black & shades of red, with a few ladies who opted for pastels and pulled off the toned down shade: Nicole Richie, Rosario Dawson, Jessica Chastain or Sienna Miller. And then we had the long tube dresses (Julianna Marguiles, Emily Blunt, Julianne Moore, Kerry Washington), one tea-length (Tina Fey rocked it), a suit (Amy Poehler broke the fashion rules with it and made it look good) and a mini dress (Thandie Newton. Hmm!). Well… all in all it was great, it gave bloggers, journalists, media & entertainment people an excuse to gossip, criticize, and wear the fashion police cap for a few hours. And now as it ended we keep in mind a few things: mermaid dresses in white are a huge hit and beauty wise it’s all about the side swept hair, natural waves, clean natural makeup. All glamed up with the coloured statement earrings. Best & Worst Dressed At Critics Choice Awards! Red Carpet Closeup!

amy adamsHere comes another one… FashionTag is yet again covering a red carpet event. Said I’d slow down with them, but what the hell! So last night Hollywood’s most talented and beautiful people gathered and partied at the Critics Choice Awards. Sort of like an Oscars preview? Hmmm yes & no, I mean with Ben Afflek  (sigh. He’s so hot) being snubbed by an Oscar nomination, I doubt it. But for him, last night was the night, as he won Best Picture & Best Director with Argo (kudos to the man). Other winners (quite predictable to be honest with you) were: Jennifer Lawrence, Anne Hathaway & Daniel Day LewisCritics-Choice-Awards-2013I know it’s a night for the movies, but we rarely watch these shows without the nasty or great fashion comments, because why not call it like it is, it’s a fashion police raid out there and we’re all about to ramble on best & worst dressed. Plus… for those of us who have to attend events, cocktail parties or weddings… well… red carpet best & worst are the best. Bit of a style & fashion inspiration that comes in handy! Who were my faves: Emily Blunt. Simple, chic, beautiful & effortless in her white tea-length dress! Amazing. Perfect hair & makeup too. Emmy Rossum looked gorgeous as well in a princess like blue sequined dress and Eva Longoria gave glam & sexy a true meaning. Helen Hunt stunned in that pink’ish-red-orange-peach dress and Jamie King was a hot vixen in her black sequined thigh high slit dress. Naomi Watts was simple in black, Marion Cotillard was well… a bit too much in touch with her girly prairie side, but other than that alright. Sally Field – kind of boring but not bad. And Anne Hathaway quite sexy & simple. She made that pretty boring dress look good with her pixie cut, if you ask me.

On the less fab side we find: Elle Fanning (whatever, I know she’s just a kid, but it was a red carpet event. And those shoes. Oh my God). Jennifer Lawrence ditched the grandma look (from People’s Choice Awards) for a more sophisticated one, or so she thought. Love her… but her red carpet style is far from fab. Jessica Chastain looked… well kind of square. We’ll give her a pass just because she looked stunning at all the other events and it’s only human to miss a few times fashion wise. Plus she must be really tired, and who can blame her. Leslie Mann was a big pink candy & Amanda Seyfried so bad. The upper part of her dress was pretty gorgeous, but she totally blew it off with the lower side. That’s it for this red carpet event. Which one was your least and most fave?

Red Carpet At People’s Choice Awards! Who Looked Fab & Bad?

The red carpet season with its glitz & glam, winners & losers & the never ending lists of best & worst dressed is upon us. With a few days to go until the Golden Globes (this Sunday) & the Oscar nominees just announced, my email, FB and Twitter are already bombarded with columns and gossips of latest red carpet this & red carpet that. So we’ve got the Globes, the National Board of Review Awards (NYC), People’s Choice Awards. Oh my! I swear to God by the time it’s the Oscars we might just get bored with so many looks, styles and gowns. Right? To tell you the truth I don’t know how celebs do it (rolling my eyes). I mean awards every night? Plus imagine if you’re a really talented face out there, it’s a new speech, new heels, jewellery, gowns, hair & makeup every other day… Back to reality now.

Basically what these events do is acknowledge talent, are great excuses for parties, and pay loads of jobs (TV, entertainment  fashion, stylists, journalists etc). Plus they’re so much fun, right? January & February are the 2 months in a year when so many fashion red carpet critics are born overnight and every blogger will have long lists and posts on their our best and worst dressed. Though I’ve always been quite against copycat subject posts… I do confess I let a few slip by. Ooopsy. But it’s such a guilty pleasure! And to be honest with you loving or hating (while constructively criticizing) the VIPs’ fashions every now and then does give us a certain (fake) feeling of grandness (Oh look at me bitch kind), as if with but a look or a typed word we could make them superstars shine or fade away. As if. Anyway…  as you might have guessed in this post I’m rambling about one of these red carpets events out there. And one of the latest was People’s Choice Awards. Oh the pretty faces & amazing gowns that have graced this event…. No, seriously now (no irony intended) it was quite a well put together red carpet event (fashion wise), with a few exceptions (sorry Emma Watson, Jennifer Lawrence & Chloe Moretz). But regarding them I guess you could play the ‘different taste’ card.

So… they came, won, put on a show and now here we are doing the aftermath. Let’s see… Jennifer Aniston looked so cute & hot in yet another black leather short dress. I swear this woman has an obsession with black on the red carpet (but look who’s talking, more than half of my clothes are black). Truth be told, she does look amazing in black and her leather Christian Dior dress was fabulous. Jennifer won Favorite Comedic Actress and gave her prize some TLC. Trying to make your new hubby jealous J? Sandra Bullock was a true beauty in her Vera Wang dress & Jimmy Choos while accepting her award, Fave Humanitarian. Naomi Watts was all glam & glitter in Alexander McQueen (it’s not the Oscars just yet Naomi. Just sayin’). Katy Perry was all normal & sweet looking in Valentino as she snitched quite a few awards (Fave Music Video, Female Artist, Pop Artist, Fan Followers). Aaaand Taylor Swift (still not a fan of her) looked (gulp) ravishing! Yes she did. That white plunging Ralph Lauren dress and those turquoise earrings were fabulous. So well done girl. And her speech was pretty hilarious too as she was almost Kanye’d again, but this time by Oliva Munn (wearing a quite unflattering Carolina Herrera dress) who had a hard time letting go of the prize. LOL. Talk about a curse. Ha! Moving on, Heidi Klum was hot as always in Julien Macdonald dress and Louboutin heels. Morena Baccarin from Homeland stunned in Donna Karan and Julianne Hough looked effortlessly sexy in Tony Ward Couture dress. Oh… and just remembered Lea Michelle who was all sweet & sexy kitten in Ellie Saab pink mini sparkling champagne dress while grabbing Fave Comedic TV Actress.

And that leaves my least faves of the night/day: Jennifer Lawrence who always looks so pretty, hot and perfect in her movies yet something happens on the red carpet… she’s always in between best and worst. In need of a stylist J? Same ‘not quite there‘ vibe had her Valentino dress. Oh yeah, and BTW was she not Dior’s face? I’d have thought she was supposed to wear the brand. (just guessing there). Chloe Moretz… well she’s just a kid so I guess that ‘it hurts my eyes neon’ Simone Rocha dress can be overlooked (aha). And Emma Watson… let us not go there. I’ve never pretended to like her, but seriously now? You do not know how to do ‘edgy’ girl, so drop it. I’ve seen this dress one too many times on her and never really liked it. What is she trying to do… channel KStew? Ha… that’s it. Talking in rhymes is the point where you know you gotta go… Enjoy 🙂

I guess we’re all quite familiar with the chaos just before a party or event: makeup, clothes, hair. Let me tell you it’s the same for the very famous faces of Hollywood. Yep… humans just like us, they go through the same rituals before hitting the red carpet. Sure they’ve got an army of stylists, makeup artists and PAs to pamper them and spoil them at all times – but if you take that out… they’re not too different from you & I. Right?

And while we’re fishing out for details and peeking into closeups – we might as well discuss the beauty looks at The 2012 Emmys Awards. How was the makeup? Or the hair? This year there seems to have been no specific trend. So if some beauties went for heavy eyes (January Jones), strong lips (Kat Dennings), retro look (Ginnifer Goodwin) or all the way natural (Julianna Marguilles), others stuck to their beauty red carpet routine (Sofia Vergara).

2012 Emmy Awards – See The Best Red Carpet Dresses!

Another year another red carpet glitz and glam – this time one to celebrate & award best TV shows & actors/actresses. Yes…  last evening The 2012 Emmy Awards too k place in Los Angeles and it was a night of fun, fashion & glamour. For the 1st time in a long time it looked classy but laid back, with most of the looks easily taking home the best dressed award. Claire Danes (Lanvin gown) & Julie Bowen (Monique Lhuillier gown) took home more than best actresses, as both looked stunning in bright yellows.

On a more fierce note, some ladies went for the classic hot red shade and looked gorgeous in different shades of the passionate hue. Ginnifer Goodwin went for a Monique Lhuillier heavily embroidered gown, that wasn’t too bad. In fact it was rather classy and safe. Not one to go for safety, regarding a wardrobe malfunction,  Kat Dennings looked so effortlessly hot in her classic deep red J. Mendel strapless dress. Also a fashion winner was Victoria Justice’s bright red classic dress and Padma Lakhsmi‘s orange shade one. Kuddos to the girls going for red on the red carpet!

On the winning team in both awards and fashion wise, Sofia Vergara looked stunning. But that’s no news, right? With a turquoise mermaid sparkling open back Zuhair Murad dress she continues to amaze us. Sure the line and silhouette was the same as always (she does like showing off those curves) but why fix it if it ain’t broken right? I’m curious to see her in something else. Please Sofia… Lots of other Hollywood beauties went for the blue last night. Heidi Klum opted for a blue powdered high slit, flowy dress by Alexander Vauthier (trying to show the ex how hot you are there, Heidi?), Zoey Deschanel thought she was going to the prom in her princess-y Reen Acra blue dress. Jane Levy was absolutely stunning in a darker shade of blue – cobalt. So was Hayden Panattiere in her gold-green-blue-Marchesa dress, and Julianne Hough in Georges Hebeika.  Can’t say the same about Julianna Margiulles or Nicole Kidman (Antonio Berardi dress). What is up with these two, especially Kidman – they always seem to end up on worst dressed list? Better luck next time ladies…

And of course you can’t get a red carpet event without the black and white gowns, or the variations of these absence of colors. Christina Hendriks, always a beauty and stunner at such events looked the part in her Christian Siriano dress, though in some photos it looked a bit too tight… I am looking at one that does her a lot of justice. Now about Giuliana Rancic what can I say except 2 things: amazing dress but perhaps a bit too skinny figure. January Jones was OK, though a bit too much makeup. And structured dresses were never my cup of tea… so I can say I’ve seen better. Jessica Pane on the other hand looked flawless in her simple white gown and black details. Lucy Liu went for an amazing all-over-sparkling metallic dress and looked stunning and Kelly Osbourne... well the dress was ok, but I’m not too keen on the hair. And besides it’s a been there done that look for Kelly.

2012 MTV Movie Awards. Best & Worst Dresses

Another red carpet event… another craze among all fashion bloggers… Though I’m not a huge fan of covering red carpet stories it’s just something that comes with the territory and besides it does come in handy sometimes to have a reference of evening/cocktail looks. Who knows what events we might be invited or have to go to & some inspiration might be quite helpful.

Though it’s not the Oscars or the CannesMTV Movie Awards brings some edge, looseness and cool on the red carpet. It’s more of cocktail looks rather than red carpet. Shorter hemlines, lots of make up, bangles, wild hair, unconventional dresses, statement shoes, easy going looks or over the top outfits. It’s all permitted. And why not? After all it is a teenage event, it is more laid back. It is about being young, different etc.

But with all the loose limits & fashion non-existing boundaries we still get the occasional faux pas or worst dressed. Could it be a matter of taste, bad stylist? Or could the guilty celeb have been in an non-bothered mood? How hard can it be to choose simplicity when you have no idea what to wear…

Well who knows, but until we figure that one out – here’s a close look at 2012 MTV Movie Awards dresses.

2012 MTV Movie Awards – Best Dressed

To be honest with you I did like quite a few of them and thought celebs such as Charlize Theron, Kristen Stewart, Emma Stone – really nailed it this year. Brilliant dresses & amazing looks all together. Nicki Reed was on my best dressed list as well, with  a very ’20s inspired glamed look. Loved it. Ellie Kemper was a young hottie in summer. She looked coloured, fresh & quite event appropriate. Not too bad. Leighton Meester though much labled by other blogs or publications as worst dressed, was one of my fave. I loved her summer relaxed sexy feel with the touch of red lips. Christina Ricci & Elizabeth Banks were not bad but not my top of the list either. Eva Amurri was quite serious but not at all bad, Jenna Dewan was sexy and that’s it & Mila Kunis can look hot in a sack. Loved her mini dress.

2012 MTV Movie Awards – Worst Dressed

The Worst Dressed list might not be long but it somehow finds the same faces on it… Ciara was looking hot – no question about that, but was she not trying too much? Quiet a tacky cheap look in my book. She must have picked her outfit with Brooke Hogan. Does that qualify for a dress? What are you trying to tell us Brooke? And the Hiltons. They are not bad but somehow they manage to look a bit funny like weird Hollywood caricatures. Well not Nicky (I do think she knows her fashion bits) but Paris is always ruining it with the too much mistake: too much glitter, too much make up, too much tan, too much blonde, too much pose. The dresses are actually great, just don’t like the look overall. Juliane Hough was… well… not on her best day/event look. Again too much: short, cut out, glitter, blonde, tan. Ladies try to be different from the crowd… in a good way! And poor Jessica Biel… what was she thinking? Oh wait… nothing. Or maybe Justin? You know Jess – being an almost married woman does not mean not having to care about how you show up at events. If you can’t be bothered just don’t attend anymore. Or simply ditch the granny look. And Emma Watson was OK, but nothing spectacular.

Well that’s it for my red carpet cover. Have a look and see who’s your best & worst.

2012 Met Gala Red Carpet. Best & Worst Dresses

All the fashion blogs are following the same trend at the moment: blogging about The 2012 Met Gala Red Carpet! With all the voluntary & involuntary research & reading I’ve been doing lately on this event I thought of blogging myself about it. Guilty as charged. I have always thought of The Met Gala Event as one of the fanciest and most glamorous red carpet events of the year. Amazing gowns. Famous people. Designers. An event where simplicty was left aside and it was OK to go over the top as long as it was with taste and elegance.

But of course… things cannot stay the same for too long, and 2012 Met Gala, as extravagant and glamed up as it may have been – left me quite disappointed to be honest. Too much trying – Beyonce, we know you had a baby, don’t need to strip to show off your post baby body! We know you are hot regardless of the very few natural pounds that come and go. Karolina Kurkova, Gwyneth Paltrow or Florence (and the machine) now that’s a different story altogether. What were they thinking anyway? And while we’re on the topic, Christina Ricci, Mary Kate Olsen and Kristen Stewart can join them! Anna Wintour came with her Snow White/Cinderella persona. Oh and don’t even get me started on Kirsten Dunst.

OK…OK, I will see the good side of it… as the event did have lots of elegant, sexy, simple, glamorous and beautiful dresses. My favorite were: Diane Kruger, Ashley Greene, Emily Blunt, Camilla Belle, Jessica Alba, Kate Bosworth, Cameron Diaz, Solange Knowels, January Jones.

Then there were those I expected more of: Rihanna (hated the hair), Sofia Vergara (1st she’s starting to loose her curves and 2nd I’d love to see her wear something different for a change. Also that dress… nice but not my style), Eva Mendes (ladies too big of a peplum!), Kate Blanchet (nice, but is that an animal she’s wearing?).

All in all it was a red carpet event so the best looks come with the worst as well. It’s a matter of taste, preferences, stylists, mood, etc. At the end of they day they all do make their best and put on a show whether they feel like it or not, so you gotta give them that, right?
