Beauty Trends Spring/Summer 2012 – by Glory Anwanwan (iamglor.com)

From Valentino to Chanel, when you look at the highlights from spring / summer 2012 collection, you can’t help but notice all the beautiful, bold bright colors from pastel nails to red lips to floral dresses.

This year, less is more when it comes to beauty trend—from pastel nails to the simple slicked back hair to natural makeup that goes from night to day. I love following beauty trends to see how I can incorporate a few into my regular routine. I found a few trends with nails, hair and makeup that I would like to share with you.

Nails—

Well-manicured nails in Pastel colors are so in this spring—from bright blues to greens and purples—you cannot go wrong!  Some popular nail trends on the runways this season:

  •   Pastel colors
  •   Bright neon colors
  •   Metallic
  •   The classics: pinks, reds, neutrals
  •   Blues and sparkly colors

Shop from my picks:
Sparkly nail polish; $6 – jacob.ca
Christian Dior nail lacquer; $23 – nordstrom.com
Essie nail polish; $13 – glam-net.com
Revlon Minted Nail Enamel Polish 85 mint green pastel – bonanza.com
NEW Nicole by OPI Kardashian Kolors Collection for Spring 2012; $7 – Target.com

Hairstyles—

In my opinion, sexy wavy hair never really goes out of style. It is so easy to do yourself and it takes little time + effort. Some popular hairstyles on the runways this season:

  •  the slicked back (aka the wet) look
  •   Hair wraps
  •  Gym hair, yes, I said it—gym hair is big this season
  •  Wavy hair because you can never go wrong with sexy waves, so effortless
  •  Simple ponytails and up ‘dos
  •   A lot of styles with center parts;  same with side parts
  •   Candy-colored locks from fiery reds to bright pinks to orange + blue
  •   Retro-inspired up dos and styles

Sarah Jessica Parker is one of my favorite style icons and she’s always rocking the wavy look!

Makeup—

The simple rule of thumb when it comes to makeup this season is keeping it natural. Long are the days when you have to apply tons of foundation + powder. Spice up your flawless, natural makeup this season with the hottest make up trend like sexy cat eyes, red lipstick, and bold brows. Some popular makeup trends on the runways this season:

  • Red lips
  • Cat eyes
  • Slicked back hair, it’s called “the wet look” was all the rave this season
  • Full brows
  • Glittered lips and eye shadows in gold and pewter was also very popular
